HELLO! SORRY GUYS FOR THE MISTAKES! AHH I FEEL SO STUPID! SOoooooo...This is chapter 2 of the rewrite, and I'd like to say thank you for the continued support from everyone that reviewed and stuck with this story even though I had abandoned it for a very long time.
Disclaimer: I don't own Merlin, because if I did, it would still be on.
A/N: WARNING! There are bullying and violent scenes ahead, and quite crude language.
Chapter 2:
Life- as merlin knew it to be- was never easy. If it was supposed to be, then Merlin got severely cheated. So, when a floaty angel man told hm he was dead (DEAD! goodness gracious, what in the living hell was he supposed to do?!) and going to become a guardian angel for his number one bully, he shouldn't have been surprised.
Although that never stopped Merlin from feeling that very same emotion (as well as anxiety, and severe shock) when the news finally settled in. So, Merlin, like every other teenager of his time, did the only thing he could think of in this situation: curse.
"Oh you have to be f*cking kidding me!" Merlin yelled out, his body already feeling the anger and shock getting comfortable inside him. He couldn't deal with this! What was he supposed to do!? Hell! He was even see-through right now! Holy sh*t! Merlin was see-through! why had he not noticed before?! He couldn't deal with this...not now...he really needed to breathe. Merlin began to rock, back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, expressing clearly his sign of distress.
Poof!
Merlin snapped out of his dazed rocking to see a small orb of bright white light. It floated, shining brightly like a tiny sun, giving a sense of innocence about it.
"Oh hello there, what are you?" Merlin asked softly, (clearly all the shock was getting to Merlin's vulnerable head) reaching forward. And even though the light was only just that, Merlin could feel it calling out to him, gesturing him to reach for it. His fingers passed right through the floating light, and for a moment Merlin figured that was all; then the light swallowed him.
Like a monster eating its prey, gulping merlin's see-through body in one go.
Merlin let a cry out of fear, as the light consumed him , the large orb slowly fitting to Merlin's body until all that remained was a glowing figure, although two points were sprouting from his back in an alarming rate.
Suddenly the light shattered! Like glass!
A quick explosion, revealing Merlin, solid again, and two giant white wings on his back.
And then Merlin fell backwards...
Merlin smacked against the ground, for the second time today, and groaned as his new sensitive wings were crushed. Wings were heavier than Merlin expected. The raven haired teen tried to get back up but, to his dismay, he couldn't! Again! Wow! back to square one.
Merlin attempted to roll onto his stomach, finally after 4 attempts he successfully was able to get onto his stomach, and slowly pushed himself upwards. It felt as someone had tied an anchor to his back. Merlin staggered upward, hunching forward, carful not to fall, again. As Merlin was finally able to steady himself his eyes landed on the 'other him'. His body was pale and broken, and just plain bloody. Merlin could see the bruises and the cuts, but the most disturbing thing to Merlin was the fact his spine was jutting out from his back, leaving a gaping, bloody, hole in his back.
"Diabhal é!(1)" Merlin looked at his body, feeling an odd emotion he couldn't really name, although it made him feel empty inside.
"What am I supposed to do with you?" Merlin asked the dead body across from him, as if it would respond. Merlin knew what he had to do, but that didn't necessarily mean that he wanted to.
But if he left it here someone would find it, and how could Merlin explain that? No, guys thats not a dead body, just a exact replica mannequin, that's all, yes because that would blow over well. Only five people could know what he was, meaning Merlin would have to hide his body. and for the second time today Merlin felt as if life cheated him, why couldn't he have a simple happy life?
The black haired teen took in a deep breath, puffing out his cheeks. Then slowly, as he released his breath, he picked up his body and dragged it accrues the bloody mud, and placed it near the gravel pile on the side.
Merlin then proceeded to bury his own body.
How sad...this morning Merlin had been woken up hoping he had gotten an A on his history test, and at sunset he was digging his own grave. That pit of nameless emotion that left Merlin feeling empty crashed into him full throttle as he continued to dig the hole for himself.
Merlin wondered what would happen if he didn't keep the rules? Because he sure as hell wasn't going to save that bully! Hell if anyone wanted to kill him, Merlin would gladly help! Arthur caused this whole mess!
It was Arthur's fault he was dead!
IT WAS ALL HIS FAULT!
anger quickly replaced Merlin's pangs of emptiness. He looked down at his work, a deep enough hole, Merlin then rolled his body into the grave. With a sickening crunch and squish Merlin began to submerge his body in dirt. After a few shovel fulls of dirt Merlin's body appeared to be invisible to anyone who walked by. Merlin wiped his hands on his pants, streaks of muddy blood slid over his skinny jeans. Sh*t! First his shirt; with two giant holes ripped in the back, and now his pants; muddy blood painted across the legs. Wonderful!
Merlin sighed, he'd have to ignore it for now and later throw out these pants, there was bigger problems to deal with, like his wings...
Merlin turned his head, straining his neck to see his white appendages, finally being able to straighten up and not falling backwards. They were skinny but still big, (although like new baby legs they lay limp) and sensitive. Merlin could feel every little breath of air that passed through the feathers.
How was he going to hide them? He couldn't just wander around with them. Merlin crossed his arms as a scowl moved across his face. Wait! what had the angel man said?
number two: you get special abilities
That was it! That was his answer! So he could use these abilities to hide his wings...right?
Merlin began to pace, his wings not even strong enough to support themselves softly brushed the floor. Merlin strained his neck to see his white wings again, which shifted softly (more like a twitch really) as if to show their uncomfort. Which fully made sense due to the fact Merlin felt every little tingle from them, and the brushing against the dirt was not helping to calm his nerves.
"Go away." Merlin spoke firmly to his wings, nothing, why did he think this would work?
"disappear!" Merlin shouted, stomping his foot for good measure, still nothing.
"Come one please." Merlin whined out, once again nothing.
"IMÍONN!(2)" Merlin shouted out in frustration, watching in amazement as his white fluffy wings shuddered in response and suddenly vanished. Merlin couldn't help but smile triumphantly.
Now time to go home.
Merlin started to crawl out of the ditch he was unconventionally thrown in. As Merlin finally got out, and wiped the dirt off he realized a major problem: he couldn't walk around dressed like this. Ripped shirt and jacket, blood stained pants. No go. Maybe Merlin's abilities could make these disappear as well.
"athrú(3)." and to Merlin joy his clothes morphed into their previous form. Now this was cool.
That's when Merlin's lungs decided to fail him. Merlin couldn't breathe! Merlin tried to take in a deep breath but nothing helped, the gasping continued.
Wait! if he was dead, didn't that mean he didn't have to breathe, like at all? Merlin took in another deep breath and hold it. The pressure slowly built up at his throat until he let it out; gasping frantically. Merlin could slightly breathe now and that was all that mattered, starting to head home Merlin tried to think positive about this situation.
As Merlin passed the people near him, something was different. Merlin always knew he could see things others couldn't. He had always been able to see auras The colors always meant something different, what they were feeling and such, but with his new abilities everything seemed...enhanced. The colors seemed brighter and more vivid, instead of just seeing the colors he could tell what they were feeling, what they had been through, and what was coming. He could tell who had found love, and who's soul was full of hatred. Merlin's eyes were opened to the new possibilities, and this scared Merlin, it was too much to take in all at once.
The whole lives of millions was displayed right before his eyes. Their dreams, their hopes, their pain, their love, their regrets, their achievements, everything.
Merlin blushed slightly, he could see everything about everyone, closing his eyes tightly he walked off trying to avoid everyone. It hurt his head.
That's when it happened, the thoughts. People's thoughts bubbling inside his head and Merlin didn't want to hear it, he could see and hear everything and Merlin decided that these abilities were more of a curse then a blessing.
'oh does this shirt make me look flattering? It better or else I so am not going to get this job! That nasty pervert will have to take m-'
Merlin shook his head, he had to get these unwanted thoughts out!
"hey...look at her over there, nice arse.'
"stop please stop." Merlin mumbled as he started to run. He couldn't take the pressure of the thoughts and expressions of others. He didn't need this. His head felt weighted, almost ready to burst like something was trying to escape from within his brain.
This was all his fault! That stupid Prat! If he hadn't sent those stupid thugs out after him, he wouldn't have to deal with all this.
'stupid Pendragon, he takes my business, I'll take his son!'
WAIT! Hold on a minute there buddy! Those weren't Merlin's thoughts. Merlin snapped around to see a man with a hat on his head. He looked somewhat old but, all in all, still young. Merlin watched as he walked up to a car with conviction and got in. He could see as Uther Pendragon, the father of one royal Prat, bought out a company, he watched as the man before him fell into depression. Losing all hope, losing his money, becoming homeless. And without warning he watched as red flashed over his being, the hatred that bubbled within him, under his skin burning and eating him within. Merlin snapped out of his daze watching as the man drove off.
Merlin took off after him.
Merlin's erratic breathing started back up again full throttle. It was already starting to slow him down, but Merlin pushed on, watching the black car as it rode down the street and through traffic. Merlin watched as the man turned a corner. Merlin flying by people with his speed, hearing the snippets of thoughts flashing by within his mind. The blue eyed teen tried to stay with the car and started running down alleys, trying to reach the pathetic prat before the man could.

Arthur started to laugh with the guys, they were in their car laughing at the thought of the idiot dork Merlin at the bottom of a ditch. Arthur hadn't seen it himself but by how the guys described it, Arthur could picture the baby crying his eyes out. Arthur looked out his window smiling.
He couldn't wait to see Merlin tomorrow, he could imagine the boy looking at him with hurt eyes and starting to cry, that idiot. everything about Merlin just pissed Arthur off.
A black speeding car caught the blond teen's attention. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion as it became a red light for it and yet it sped on through.
THEY WERE GOING TO HIT!
"Cendred! Look out!" Arthur shouted out, grabbing over him and trying to grab the steering wheel to swerve out of the way. But with a flash of blue Arthur watched as a boy was hit by the car. He watched, in horror as the boy flew away from the windshield and slid to the ground, blood splattering across the floor.
"oh sh*t!" he could hear more curses behind him but he didn't pay attention, all he could see was the small raven haired teen as he slowly stood up. Sky blue eyes met sapphire blue, and suddenly the boy took off running. The blood trailing behind him.
No one else seemed to notice. Their attention now on the driver who had smashed his head into the dashboard.
Arthur got out of the car slowly, still feeling shocked by what he had just witnessed. He began to look for the bleeding boy that had looked so familiar, and yet he was gone. Arthur stared off in the distance wondering who it was, and why he felt such a pang inside his heart.

Merlin ran into an alley and hid behind the trash cans. He had been so stupid, completely stupid, when that car had started to speed off towards Arthur all Merlin could think was to stop it.
So that was what Merlin did! He jumped in front of the car, his brain not thinking fast enough for another solution. And if he wasn't dead already he was pretty sure he would have died.
How stupid he was! He actually jumped in front of the car. He was an idiot! There was witnesses! His wings hurt painfully against his back. They were no longer invisible and limp, they wrapped themselves around Merlin, into a white feathery cocoon.
He needed to get home. If he didn't hurry Gauis would notice and get suspicious, and that was the last thing Merlin needed right now. He needed to stay low, no more car accidents. Although his wings brought a sense of comfort, Merlin still felt lost. Just a few seconds ago, he had been fine with that monster dying, and now...when the time came to it Merlin had jumped in front of a car for him.
Why? Why did he have to care? Why the hell did hid heart have to beat so fast!
Slowly he got up, his wings dragging behind him, and finally start to sneak through the alleyways to get home. Dodging around trashcans and dumpsters to avoid unwanted spectators. All he wanted now was to sleep.
When he had finally gotten home Gauis wasn't. You see, Merlin's elderly uncle, Gauis, worked at the hospital, a surgeon, and a very popular one at that, he was constantly being called in for emergencies. Causing Merlin to be home alone...a lot. Which was perfect for right now, but Merlin still found himself lonely at times.
The sapphire eyed teen couldn't tell if he was lucky or not, having Gauis gone meant he didn't have to to explain his newly gained appendages on his back, and yet he really wanted to confide his secret with someone. The loneliness was already starting to eat at his spirit. He couldn't handle this all alone, he would tell Gauis- and there went his frantic breathing again. It was as if he was having asthma attacks. He couldn't Bloody breath!
He fell down on the couch and closed his eyes, his wings wrapping around him like a blanket, ever so slowly, with his gasping, he could see black spots in his vision. He fell into a deep slumber (or simply passed out), exhausted from all the excitement that the day had brought him. Hoping with all his might that tomorrow would be better than this hellish one.
"MERLIN! WHAT THE BLOODY HELL IS THIS!"
