Chapter 2

Disclaimer: I do not own the Vampire Academy world and its character. This is what I would think happen if Rose somehow found her self in amongst Pirates.

As I step on board my ship I reach up ripping the bow tie off and holler. "Men, make way to open waters." As I walk to my cabin.

After finishing the dance with the handsome stranger and sharing the most perfect kiss I have ever had. I notice the time was near midnight, if my plan was to work I had to be out of the house at midnight.

I turned and left the man quickly, only stopping when I heard him call 'Wait' I turned to look at him as he said, 'What's your name'. Yes I could of told him my name, but what for, after tonight I would never see him or my family again so it didn't matter that the stranger knew who I was or not. I shook my head no sadly and left swiftly before he could try and stop me. I hurried through the huge doors into the main hall and up the servants stairs to my room.

Once inside I ran to the closet and grab my duffel bag and threw it onto the bed. I went about gathering clothes, suddenly I stop. I couldn't pack anything that a girl would wear. Because pretending to be a boy was my only way to get out of here without being caught then I was going to have to put thought into what I brought with me.

I look around the room taking in everything, looks like it'll be light packing. I remember I had some boy clothes for when I would sneak out to go to the stables and clean the stalls and play with my horses, so I went and retrieve them. Hmm four pair of pants that button at the knees and four smock shirts, 2 vests along with a pair of knee high boots and a couple of bandanas. Oh well at let least the bag would be light.

I change out of my dress and wash the makeup off my face. As I gaze into the mirror the strangers face appeared before me. How handsome he look and the feeling I felt when he touch me and oh the kiss...oh the kiss was perfect It almost felt like a princess in the fairy tale story, except she got the prince that I dance with tonight. All I was going to get was either a 'drunk womanizer' or a 'nobody' no one knew anything about. Life it really wasn't fair, why couldn't the man I married be like the mysterious stranger I dance with.

I finally finish removing the makeup and brushing my hair. Since in Turkey men seldom cut their hair, me having long hair would not be that big of a problem, so I braided it into four braids and tied a bandana around my head, slip on my knee length pants, button them at the knee. As I look at my reflexion I had to do something about my chest. God had surely bless me with large breasts and as a girl I was thankful, but now trying to be a boy this became an obstetrical I had to over come. My mind running wild trying to come up with what to do, 'Think Rose Think' I yelled at myself. Then I remember reading a book about oriental girls who's family wanted them to have small feet they would bind their feet by wrapping cloth around their feet to prevent the feet from growing.

Well...my boobs had already grown and filled out, but why wouldn't it work anyways same principle just different part of the body.

I look around the room and found, that I had no strips of cloth that would work so I grab the sheet from the bed and fetch my dagger out of the chest and cut strips of cloth from the sheet.

After being satisfied I had enough. I then started wrapping the strips around my upper body making sure to pull the cloth tight in order to literally smash my boobs flat. Once I was appease by my appearance I slip the smock shirt over my head and tucking it into my pants. Then putting the belt on that held the scabbard for my sword. Adjusting it until it felt comfortable where it hung. I pack the extra strips of cloth in the duffel bag.

I had the local blacksmith make my sword for me as I was not as strong as some men the metal for my sword had to be lighter but just as strong as regular sword metal. The hilt had been a special design to fit my small hand, I also had several guards put on the sword to protect my hand, knuckles, and fingers against being cut by an others sword.

On the outside of the guards were rolls of teeth like features that stop one from pulling the swords away from me if they tried their hand would be rip by the teeth. It could also could be used if you hit your opponent in the face using the guard.

The blade was elongated tapering to a point, it also was a double edge sword which meant the blade was sharp on both sides. Crafted out of metal and polish to a blinding shine.

The grip was carved out of bone and into it, finger groves were cut preventing the sword from slipping out of my grasp. Then strips of leather were wound tight around the carved bone wet-ted and left to shrink dry to the handle. As I was finished with my dressing detail and pleased with the look.

I turn once more to look around the room, I spotted the mask I wore to the ball and pick it up, I returned it to it's wooden box and close the fastener locking up the beautiful mask forever holding the one special night that I would never experience again. I started to put it away in my dresser drawer, but then decided I would take it with me as a remembrance of the mysterious stranger.

I went to the top dresser and took out three bags, this having the money I had save from this and that, over the past few months. It was a considerable amount, but since I didn't know where or how long I would be gone it would be necessary to have it. I place some money into each pants pocket and the rest I place in the bag. I also retrieved my papers for me in case I would need to prove who I really was and wrap them in cloth and then place them in an oil coated bag to weather proof them as much as possible.

I started to my window to leave when a knock on my door, cause my heart to pound in fear of being caught.

I walk to the side of the door. "Who is it?" I asked in a little voice.

"It's me Rose open up." I let out the breath I was holding it was only Lissa.

I open the door allowing enough room for her to pass then closing the door behind her locking it.

"What are you doing here?" I asked her. With a shock expression on her face seeing me dress as a boy.

"Looking for you. You were dancing one minute and then gone the next...Why...Why are you dress like that...Where is you ball gown...What are you doing?" Lissa asked looking around the room with a very confused look as she return her stared to what I was wearing.

"Lissa please you have to understand . I can't stay here and marry some stranger . I can't I would rather die than do that. So I am leaving." I said pleading with her to understand why.

"But Rose running away won't solve anything, when you come back you still have to marry one of them." Lissa said, with hurt in her voice.

"Maybe I would have to married them and maybe not depending on how long I am gone." I said looking back towards the window, I needed to be leaving.

"Please Rose don't do this you know it is not safe out there, I can't lose you to." Lissa said as she started to sob.

"Shh, Lissa you are not going to lose me, besides that you know I am perfectly capable of defending myself. And maybe it won't be for very long and I will try to write to you at your home." I said trying to assure her in a way to calm her down.

"But Rose..." she started to say.

"Lissa I have to go now or else I have done all this for nothing." I said picking up my pack and starting for the window once more.

"Here then take this." Lissa said as she took off her bracelet which had her family crest on it and handed it to me.

"I can't take, this Lissa it belong to your family." I said trying to hand it back to her.

"Your my only family Rose take it and when you return you can give it back to me." Lissa grab my hand and fasten the bracelet to my wrist.

I pulled her into a bone crushing hug. "I going to miss you Lissa and please don't tell anyone about me leaving." I said letting her go.

"I won't but does anyone know where you are going, besides me?" Lissa asked looking sad.

"Yes I am going to be sailing with Mason on the merchant ship he works on. So he will know where I am, when he returns I will have him get a hold of you and let you know where I am. But you still can't tell anyone." I said asking for her promise to keep my secret.

"OK I promise and you tell Mason he better come straight to me when he arrives back here or I will kill him myself." Lissa said this causing me to laugh at the fact there was no way she could hurt a fly let alone Mason.

"I will indeed pass the word to Mason, bye Lissa my friend." I said as I crawl out the window and started my climb down the wall.

I made my way to the harbor staying to the shadows limiting any one from seeing me. As I got closer to the docks I look out across the waters and notice a ship making way to the open sea.

The ship I notice was big, it's hull setting high in the water meaning it was not heavy laden with cargo. I watch as her main sail came up reminding me of an elegant lady with her beautiful white gown being blown by the wind around her body. Then the aft sail started up, follow by the bow sail and you could tell that the ship was a fast, cause in a matter of a few minutes she was out of sight. Strange I felt a longing a sadness, not being able to understand why a ship would cause this feeling with in my heart.

Turning my attention back to the dock I made my way to Mason ship the Magellan, not a fancy ship but a modest one. She could carry a cargo capacity up to 500 tons with a crew of 45, or correction 46 now.

She makes way up to 80 miles a day and the around trip to Dublin Ireland would take 6-8 months depending on weather and winds.

The Captain of the Magellan was Stan Alto a rude and boisterous, demanding man. His First Mate was a man name Jesse who Mason said was an ass from the get go. Then there was Mason who was the Quartermaster in charge of the cargo and some of the crew duties on deck.

He had talk to the captain and told him of a friend who needed passage and would work for his way. The captain had agree and that I would be staying in Mason's cabin, who informed me he had his own bath and privy, so I wouldn't have to worry about any of the men catching me. My name would be Marty, where he had come up with that name who knows.

Mason cabin was located just under the wheel house this allowed for top deck entry to his cabin, instead of going below.

Mason said he had beautiful views of the moon on the water at night this way and no one else had wanted it saying that the boat movement was rougher up top, he said he couldn't tell if it was or not.

I look up at the ship I saw a silhouette of a man by the outline I knew it was Mason.

"Permission to come aboard mate.' I called lowering my voice to sound more male.

"Permission granted sailor." Mason replied back. As I walk up the gang plank nearing the top I could see Mason smiling at me.

"I almost thought you had change your mind, when you didn't show up at the time you said." Mason said eying my appearance.

"Was caught in the middle of my escape by none other than Lissa and had to explain to her." I said chuckling and shaking my head. "Oh and upon your return you are to immediately go to her and tell her where you put me aground, or else she will kill you." I said cocking my head to the side and laughing.

"Indeed, Hm a death by nagging or a death by pleasure?" he asked grinning.

"That one me boy tis between ye and the princess." I said laughing.

"Oh so you have learn some of the talk already, good for you it will help." Mason smiled again. "Come lets store your gear and get you settle. We sail at morning light." Mason added turning to lead the way to his cabin. I followed taking one more look out across the water where I had saw the ship wondering again why I had experience the range of emotion watching as it left.

"Well here we are welcome to my humble home." Mason said as he entered the room not to big, then again it wasn't small either.

"I got you a cot and set it up over there." he pointed to the corner.

"The privy is here and this is how it works." he said and I followed him into a smaller room he showed me a seat that had a hole in it.

"You do your job and... Ahh... then take this bucket of water and rise out, the hole goes out into the ocean so no mess if you rinse each time or else it can start stinking." he added making a face I guess he had experience this first hand before. I just chuckle at his expression.

I just could not stop myself from saying what came out of my mouth next.

"Mason." I said smiling devilish at him.

"Yea." he said back looking like OK what now.

"Every get a turd crosswise?" I ask, but then I couldn't help but bust out laughing. This causing him to laugh to.

"Never change do you?" he asked shaking his head.

"Never and besides if I change you wouldn't like me any more." I said looking confident in what I was saying.

"I doubt that, but we should get some sleep tomorrow will be here before you know it." Mason said turning to head back to the bedroom. He took out a sleep shirt and handed it to me and took one for him.

"I didn't think you would have one of these so I'll leaned you one of mine." he said and heading back into the bathroom to change.

I put the shirt on over my clothes and then began to take off my smock and then the belt that held my scabbard then and boots follow by pants. As I was finishing up Mason came out averting his away from me. He leaned over and blew out the candle inside the the hurricane lamp.

"Night Marty." Mason said sliding under the covers.

"Night Mason see you in the morning." I said turning over and falling to sleep.

Soon I drifted off into a dream, dancing and laughing with the mysterious stranger. Enjoying his accent as he coo love words into my ear. Feeling the warmth of his touch on my skin. Just as the stranger was removing his mask to reveal who he was the dream disappear. I turned over groaning rubbing my hands across my face to try to rid myself of the feelings I was having and slowly went back to a dreamless sleep.

Review and let me know what you think. Debbie
