Chapter 2

The next day, Amy woke up feeling refreshed. She took a shower and changed into faded blue denim shorts, a black t-shirt and pink slippers then she went downstairs. No one was up yet so she began making breakfast. Emmeline soon came downstairs.

"Morning Lyn." said Amy.

"Hey… Had a good night?" asked Emmeline looking at her with concern.

"Yeah. No nightmares at all."

"Great." said Lyn with a smile. "Any plans for today?" asked Emmeline helping her make breakfast.

"I'm going to see Jen and the Weasleys then maybe stop by Hermione's place." Lyn nodded. "Do you need anything?"

"No. I am good." said Amy.

As she sat down, Amy took the daily prophet which was laid on the table. "Anything of interest in there?" said Sirius coming into the kitchen.

Amy looked up and smiled. "Nope. Just the usual death eater identifications. Smithsten (a rockie death eater) was caught with a band of rookie death eaters hiding out at Smithsten's house. Umbridge was discovered as a death eater."

"Shocker." said Sirius dryly having known what the woman was up to.

"Tell me about it." Amy wasn't at all surprised given how the woman acted.

Some death eaters like Belatrix, Dolohov and Nott had been killed in the battle but those that had survived were in lock up awaiting trial and Amy was very happy to see Malfoy's name there. this time, he would not slither out of it.

As she had breakfast, 2 regal looking owls came in. One landed in front of Amy and another in front of Sirius. Amy was perplexed and she opened it.

Dear Miss Potter

You are invited to the memorial of all the lives lost during the first and last war on the 15th of July. we would also want to thank you formally for the service you did for the British magical world for getting rid of Tom Riddle known as Lord Voldemort. You will be awarded an Order of Merlin first class. You are also asked to give a speech.

Amy was stunned. An order of Merlin?" she said in awe.

"You deserve it." said Sirius and Amy just nodded still stunned. She was even more worried about the speech.

"You will be the youngest ever to receive an order of Merlin."

After breakfast, Amy went to her room to get dressed. She wore a pink tight t-shirt, black denim dungaree shorts reaching her mid thigh and sandals. She tied her hair in 2 ponies each on either side of her neck.

"Bye Lyn!" Amy called out before she flooed to the Burrow. When she got out of the fireplace, she was surprised to see… "Fleur?"

It was Fleur Delacour, former Tri-wizard champion looking beautiful with her silvery blonde hair, blue eyes, delicate pale skin and willowy 5'8 frame. Amy hugged her warmly. "Not that I am not happy to see you but what are you doing here?"

"I moved here last year. I am interning with Gringotts. Bill and I are engaged." said Fleur excited. Her English had improved greatly though she still had an accent, it wasn't as heavy.

"Oh my God! I am so happy for you!" said Amy grinning as she looked at the ring. It was modest but still beautiful.

"Really?" said Fleur unsure making Amy wonder why.

"Of course. You make a great match."

Amy chatted to Fleur before she went to find Ginny and Jen. He found them in the back yard. They had the gnome duty. "Hey guys!" she called out to them. Both girls brightened as soon as they saw her and they hugged.

The 3 girls began talking. She found out why Fleur seemed uncertain when she congratulated her. It turns out Mrs. Weasley and Ginny didn't like her.

"She calls her Pleghm." said Jen looking accusingly at her sister.

"Ginny!" said Amy chastising her.

"What!" said Ginny shrugging.

"Give her a chance. She is a really nice girl."

Ginny scoffed but relented when both Amy and Jen glared at her.

Turns out the Weasleys had got summons to the ball too and Jen was getting order of Merlin second class as well as Ginny and those who went with her. Mrs. Weasley was floating in happiness and Jen couldn't stop talking about it.

Then Jen told her Percy had come home and apologized to his parents. Amy was happy he had made an effort. Mrs. Weasley had been so distraught when Percy was being a jerk. It was a good thing Percy was sacked with Crouch or he would have had a bigger head… at least now he would be wise enough not to be a blind follower.

Amy hadso much fun talking to Jen and Ginny in Jen's room. She only left the burrow after lunch to go and see Hermione.

She found her sitting outside reading a book.

"I thought we finished our OWLs Hermione. Lay off the reading will you." She teased.

"Amy!" said Hermione happily.

"Easy. Don't want you to fall on me." said Amy hugging her best had been hurt badly at the ministry and was still healing.

"I am so glad to see you."

"Same here. How are you feeling?"

"Am better now. well rested. You?"

"Same here. So you home alone?"

"Not really. Mum is here with me while dad is at work. They decided to exchange shifts so that one of them is with me all the time. they are really worried."

Amy nodded. Hermione's parents truly cared for her a lot. "Um, how did they take what happened?" asked Amy nervously.

"They were proud that i stood up and fought alongside my best friend. they are not mad at you." said Hermione and Amy breathed a sighed. "The understand. No need to worry."

Amy grinned at that. "So...congratulations on the order of Merlin." said Amy nonchalantly and Hermione smiled practically bouncing.

"I am so honored! Do you know I am the first muggle born to get that award? Mum and dad are so proud and wished they could be there. I promised her lots of pictures." Said Hermione and Amy grinned.

"They could be there."

"But muggles arent allowed in the ministry."

"You are forgetting who you are talking to, Amaryllis, destroyer of evil..." said Amy with a smirk and Hermione laughed.

As they sat there she suddenly felt like she was being watched. Her senses were on high alert. She suddenly got up her wand out pointing at some bushes.

"Amy?"

Amy looked at the bushes then a squirrel jumped out. She heaved a sigh of relief.

"Oh don't tell me the big bad Amaryllis, destroyer of the darkest wizard is scared of a squirell?" said Hermione mirth in her voice and Amy rolled her eyes.

"Shut up will you." said Amy and could hear Hermione's peals of laughter.

"Lets go inside. I want to meet your mum." said Amy and they went to the house.

Amy stayed till dinner time, explained and told the Grangers everything that had happened and then returned home after dinner promising to come back.
