Section 1: 100-Mile Wilderness: One year later…
A bright light cascaded around them as Dean and Gianna were thrust into another forest. Since he was holding her he managed to take most of the force of the fall but it still jostled her painfully. They were both bruised, dirty and covered in blood. Deans was a mixture of the monsters, himself and mostly Gias now since of the injury in her chest. Her entire chest was soaked, and now blood was squirting through the wound. She was gasping for breath but she still had her color which was a good sign for Dean.
Dean gently put her down and applied pressure to it, she whimpered in pain. "Stay with me, Gia. It had to of worked." His eyes raked the scenery, "It's- it's different here."
"Dean…" She coughed, causing more blood to splatter all over Dean's face, "I… can't breathe." She wheezed out as she clutched his tattered clothing
Determination and desperation flooded him in an instant, "We're going to get you to a hospital. Just stay with me."
Picking her up again he began running until he came upon a camping site. A scared man came out of the tent looking around with a flashlight, "Hello? Hello?" He turned back to the woman, "It was a deer."
Dean put her down again and looked into her now hooded eyes, "I'll be right back." Before she could protest he was gone
To say she wasn't terrified of being left alone right now was an understatement. Her entire chest was burning with pain, her vision getting blurry and she couldn't catch her breath. The Leviathan nailed her so good in those final moments she thought she was going to die in Purgatory. At least if she dies here she'd have a chance of going somewhere else.
The woman gulped as she looked at her boyfriend, "I don't know."
"It was like - it was a deer or some- Oh!" the man yelled in fear once his light shined on an angry disheveled looking Dean
"Where am I?" Dean growled out
"What? W-" He backed up with terror in his eyes when Dean pulled a gun on them, "Hey, hey."
"Where's the road?" Dean demanded
The man pointed, "12 miles that way!"
Dean nodded, slowly bent over and stole their pack, then took off back for Gia. He was able to get her to a hospital within the hour on premise of an animal attack in the woods. They both had similar wounds to that so the authorities weren't very suspicious. Shed slept an entire day and night after her surgery, but the doctors feared she'd become comatose because of the extent of the injury. In the middle of the night though Dean heard her wake up.
Grabbing her hand he watched her intently and relief flooded through him when her grey icy blue eyes met his deep green ones, "Shit. Shit." he was taken aback by the feelings flooding through him at her looking up at him alive and healing
"Dean?" She croaked out, then grimaced at the intense pain she still felt
"Shhh baby." He kissed her full lips and smoothed her hair back, "You need to get rest."
She shook her head at him, "Dean… why are you still here?"
His heart nearly shattered, "What do you mean? I'm not leaving you alone."
"You need to find Sam." her eyes scanned and memorized every feature on his face, not sure when she would see it again, her hand weekly traced his glowing arm, "And release Benny."
"Not until i know you're okay." he shook his head
"I'm fine. Im breathing. Im alive." She smiled adoringly, "Because of you. I'll be here when you get them. I promise."
He didn't want to but he knew she was right. Every inch of his body was screaming to stay with her, screaming that as soon as he left something was going to happen, but he didn't listen. And as soon as he left the hospital she slipped into a coma.
Clayton, Louisiana
Dean found himself hitching a ride to Benny's old town four days later on his search. He thanked the trucker that helped him out and went on his way. He trekked through another damn forest all day, into the night, clutching his forearm from the pain Benny was causing.
Once he found the grave he took the designated amount of steps Benny told him and glared at the dirt, "This better be you, you son of a bitch." after hitting the bones dean crawled out of the hole grunting from the pain in his arm and the exertion, "Hold on, you bastard. Hold on!" Taking out his knife he sliced his forearm enough for the soul to leak out and began the incantation, "Anima corpori fuerit corpus totem resurgent!" gasping Dean looked around impressed, "Wow." sensing someone behind him he swung around to find Benny, in one piece, staring at him, "Wow. That was fast."
"No thanks to you." The vampire scoffed back, "The hell took you so long?"
Dean scowled, "You're welcome."
Benny looked around for his old friend then turned to Dean brow raised, "Where's Sayorra?"
"Safe." Dean dismissed, he did like Benny but he didn't trust anyone, especially anyone from Purgatory, with Gianna, he's worked his ass of and hers to get her safely back here and almost failed so he wasn't about to put her in danger again
"That mean alive?" Benny asked eyeing him, the history Sayorra and him had was to extensive to even think about hurting her, it didn't matter if he was vampire or not, "Because she was pretty worse for wear when we were leaving."
"Yes that means alive." Dean cleared his throat when Benny cracked his neck, "Everything working?"
"Good enough." Benny answered by flashing his teeth, "So, what now?"
"Like we talked about, I guess."
"Then this is goodbye."
"Keep your nose clean, Benny." Dean commanded as they walked towards each other, "You hear me?"
"I got it. We made it, brother." Benny slammed him into a hug, both of them smiling, "I can't believe it."
"You and me both." Dean shook his head
"Go ahead and give your girl a hug for me, you here? Let her know how grateful i am." Dean nodded at him and stayed put until the Vamp walked one way and Dean the other
Once he was back to civilization and it was morning he scored a burner phone and decided to catch Gia up on what happened. He hasn't spoken to her since he left but now all that's left to do was to find Sammy and then scoop up his girl.
Dialing the number he saved he cleared his throat when the perky receptionist answered, "Millinocket Regional Hospital how can i help you?"
"Yeah this is Eric Cross. I need you to transfer my call to room 5B. It's my wife's room. Her names Chelsea Cross." He gave them all the fake information he gave when they admitted her
The woman quieted and cleared her throat, "Oh dear… No one's contacted you Mr. Cross?"
Deans heart stopped, "I've been out of the country on business. My phone didn't work. I'm back now, what happened?"
"Sir… a few days ago your wife slipped into a coma. The doctors are trying everything they can to wake her but nothing's changed so far. I'm sorry."
Deans head was in his hands at this point as he felt like the resolve he's held the entire time since being back was degrading by the second. Gias in a coma and he's not even in the same state. He wasn't there for her. Pushing everything out of his head, he needed to stay en route.
"I'll be there in a few days." He ground out before giving the number of his burner cell if there was any change before then. He decided to contact Sam via his normal burner cell numbers instead of tracking him down personally so he could get Gia. They'd meet up at the end of the week at the cabin, hopefully, once he figured out Gias situation. If she was stable enough to move he'd be taking her with him, coma or no coma.
