Chapter 2: Meeting Old Friends (Part 2)

[Hikari's POV]
I left the elevator as soon as it reached the floor my apartment is at and a smell of delicious food filled the air. It didn't take long to find out it was my mother cooking, when I opened the door. I looked down by the door to change my sneakers into my sleepers and I noticed an unusual pair of shoes, but somehow they were familiar to me.
"Oh, hello darling." My mother said as she peaked to see who had arrived.
"Hey, mom." I said as I dropped my bag on the couch. "Do we have guests?"
"Taichi does." She put the cake in the oven. "They are in his bedroom."
"Is it someone from school?"
"Not necessarily. I think you know him quite well too."
"Really?"
"Why don't you go to his room and see it for yourself?"
"Alright." I grabbed my bag once again and headed to my own room to change into more comfortable clothes.

I knocked at Taichi's door about 10 minutes later. I heard him talking to someone inside, and my heart nearly stopped beating. It couldn't be. I slowly opened the door and walked in.
"Taichi?"
"Hello, sis."
"Hi, Hikari."
"Oh my God, Koushiro!" I said surprised. "It's been a long time!"
"I know, right? How's everything going?"
"Great, thanks. What about you?"
"Same."
"We just established a connection with the Digital World."
"What?" I asked, almost not believing.
"We wanted to talk to Agumon and Tentomon. We've just reached them."
"Taichi!" I could hear Agumon's voice echoing the room. "I missed you, my friend!"
"Agumon! I missed you too! How are you?"
"I'm good. How are you?"
"I'm good too. It's been so long! How's everything going there?"
"It's been peaceful since you left. It's finally a good place to live at."
"I'm glad to hear it."
"Is Tentomon around, Agumon?" Koushiro asked.
"We split up, so we could take extra care of the Digital World. So no, he's not around."
"You split up?" I asked. "Does that mean you haven't seen Tailmon since we left?"
"No, I think we split up a year ago. But we still get together from time to time."
"You said everything's peaceful there." My brother spoke. "So why did you all go separate ways?"
"Like I said, we did that to take extra care of the Digital World. It was Tailmon's idea, actually."
"Really?"
"Yeah. She thought it would be easier to detect evil powers this way."
"I really wanted to see her." I said sadly.
"Don't worry." Taichi said in a reassuring tone, placing a hand on my shoulder. "She's alright. If anything bad happened, we'd known by now."
"Well, not really, since they aren't together anymore."
"Don't be so pessimist, sis." He smiled. "You know what they say, bad news arrive right away."
"How convincing." I said ironically. "But you're right. She's alright. And I'll get to see her and talk to her really soon."
"That's the spirit!" He pulled me into a hug.
"I see you two are still as close as you used to be." Agumon said.
"Well, she's my sister after all."
"If you excuse me, I have to study."
"Geez, sis, you are always studying." Taichi said to me.
"One of us actually wants to succeed in life." I replied. "Besides, I like studying."
"How can you like it? It's so boring and stupid."
"You'd say that. Everything else other than soccer is boring to you."
"That's not true! There are lots of things that I like."
"Name one then."
"There's… no, I don't like this." He took some time to think. "I like… no, I don't. Alright, you win."
"Thank you." I said with a smile. "Now I'm going to do homework. Bye, Koushiro."
"Bye, Hikari."

*****
[Yamato's POV]
I cannot believe how gorgeous Sora was. I mean, not in that moment cause she was all sweaty from practice and all, but in general… I'm just ridiculous for not being able to take her off my mind.
"Hey brother, are you okay?"
"What?" I was snapped out of my thoughts. "Yeah, I'm fine."
"You're still thinking about Sora?"
"What?! Of course not!" I denied quickly.
"Seriously, Yama… I think you should really talk to her. Maybe she likes you too."
"Are you for real? We haven't talked to each other in two years! How can she like me?"
"I saw the way she was looking at you. There are definitely feelings there."
"You're nuts, Takeru. There are not feelings there. You must be seeing things."
"Alright. Deny all you want, but I'm sure there is… and I'm doing everything I can to bring you two together."
"Don't you dare do that, Takeru!" I hissed. "I don't want to be with her and I'm sure neither does she!"
"How can you be so sure? Like you said, you haven't talked to her in a long time."
"Exactly."
"Maybe she's crushing you from afar."
"You're watching way too many romantic movies, you know that?"
"I'm sorry if I am romantic. There's nothing wrong with that."
"Except you're not a girl. Guys are supposed to like action movies."
"You're stupid for thinking that way. I bet some guys like romantic movies."
"Whatever." I said. "I think they are ridiculous."
"How will you win Sora's heart if you don't change?"
"I don't want to win her heart. Now stop talking about this."
"Are you sure? If you don't, someone else will. I hear boys are at her feet."
"I don't mind." I shrugged. "She's allowed to date whoever she wants to."
"I still think you should talk to her."
"Alright, this conversation is over."
"Okay, then."

*****
[Sora's POV]
I was sitting on my bed doing some reading when my computer started beeping.
"Hey Sor!"
"Mimi!" I jumped off my bed and ran to the computer. "How are you?"
"I'm great, thanks! How are you?"
"I'm great too. Just busy with practice and all. My tennis coach thinks I'm ready for Wimbledon this year, so signed me up."
"That's awesome! Are you looking forward to it?"
"Yeah, I am. But I'm also freaking out. I've never played in such an important competition like this, I'm scared as hell."
"I think you'll be great at it, it will be a great experience."
"Yeah, I know." I sighed. "I saw Yamato today."
"Really? Did you talk to him?"
"No, I was practicing and he was leaving school with Takeru. But we exchanged glares."
"You should have talked to him, Sora."
"What would I say? 'Hey, Yamato… I have a crush on you'? We haven't talked for about two years."
"So what? You can always start over."
"Speaking of, when will you confess to Taichi?"
"Oh, I'm over it. There's nothing much I can do from the other side of the world. Besides, I think he's moved on as well."
"I wouldn't be so sure of that."
"What? Do you know something I don't?"
"Perhaps." I smiled mischievously.
"Oh my God! Start talking now!"
"I'm not sure, Mimi. But if you want, I can talk to him and get him to open up to me."
"Yes, please!" She said cheerfully.
"I knew it." I teased. "You tried to act cool, but you're falling for him."
"I wouldn't say falling, but I enjoyed spending some time with him. It was nice."
"I'm sure he enjoyed it as well. I think you two can work it out, even with the distance."
"Oh, I don't know."
"Come on, Mimi. Where's your optimism?"
"You know what? You're right. The distance doesn't matter, we can work it out if it's meant to be."
"That's the spirit!" I smiled. "So did you guys kiss?"
"I'm not gonna answer that!"
"Oh come on… we're best friends. We're supposed to share these kinds of things."
"Maybe after you confess to Yamato."
"Mimi! This is not gonna happen."
"I think you're throwing an amazing opportunity away, Sora."
"Well, I don't. And this conversation is over."
"Alright, you don't need to be all angry about it."
"I'm not. I just don't feel anything other than a crush for him. And that's because he's quite famous around here."
"So you're into rock stars?"
"What? I don't think so, but I never thought about it. I like some rock bands, but I'm not sure if I am the type of girl who would go out with long haired guys."
"Yeah, I don't think so either. But Yamato is different. I believe he wouldn't let fame get the best of him."
"I wouldn't be so sure." I shrugged. "You haven't seen him in a while, maybe he changed."
"I guess you're right." Mimi looked away. "I have to go, Sor. I need to go out with my mother."
"Okay, I'll talk to you later. Have fun."
"Thanks, bye."
"Bye."

*****
[Hikari's POV]
I was sitting on my bed reading a book when Taichi came running. I immediately put the book away and sat down.
"What the hell, Taichi! You scared me!"
"I'm sorry, sis. But you have to come with me."
"Why? What's wrong?"
"There's something you need to see."
"What?"
"Just come with me." He grabbed my hand and dragged me out of my bedroom.
"Taichi, you're hurting me." I complained. "Why don't you just tell me what's going on?"
"I can't, it's a surprise."
He opened the door of his own bedroom and I walked in. His computer was on and there was an image of a forest, much like the Digital World.
"Are you talking to Agumon?"
"Yes, and guess what?"
"What?"
"He found Tailmon."
"Wait, are you serious?"
"A hundred percent." He nodded his head. "I asked him to look for her. I knew how much you wanted to see and talk to her."
"You actually did this?"
"Yes, I did. Agumon should be returning anytime soon."
"Wow, I can't believe this is happening!"
"I wish we could go to the Digital World again."
"Me too. And I think we should continue meeting on August 3rd like we used to, I miss my friends."
"Koushiro is always around, sis." Taichi said. "Sora goes to the same school as us. And I'm sure you still have contact with Takeru."
"But it's not the same." I said sadly. "We used to be so close, I wish things stayed that way."
"Well, that would be impossible. It was just a matter of time until we all moved on with our lives. It doesn't mean we can't be friends again."
"Yeah, I guess you're right."
"Taichi!"
"Agumon." He sat down in front of the computer. "Did you find Tailmon?"
"I'm sorry, I couldn't find her."
"What?"
"That's okay, Agumon." I came up behind my brother. "You tried, maybe I'll get to talk to her some other time. Thanks though."
"I didn't want to disappoint you, Hikari."
"You didn't, don't worry." I winked at him. "I appreciate your effort. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going back to my room."
I turned my back to the computer and proceeded to leave Taichi's room.
"I feel awful for her, Taichi."
"I know, I wish she could have talked to Tailmon. But like she said, you tried. Who knows, maybe she'll come around and see Hikari soon."
"Like now?" A family voice echoed in the room.
"What? Tailmon?"
"Where's Hikari?"
"She just left. She thought Agumon couldn't find you."
"What? I hope she didn't think I didn't want to talk to her."
"I'm sure she doesn't think so." Taichi stood up. "I'll get her back here."
He left the room in a hurry and saw me in the hall.
"Hikari, come back here."
"Taichi, I'm busy. I can't keep getting distracted."
"I won't, I swear."
"Alright." I sighed. "What is it?"
"You have to go see for yourself."
"Uh, fine."
I followed him to his bedroom again. I couldn't believe my eyes. I quickly ran to the computer.
"Tailmon!"
