I'm back with a new chapter! I am so happy with the numbers of reviews I got! Sadly, nobody was able to figure out their curse. Maybe this chapter can clear things up! Don't forget to comment and review. The reason why I don't post new chapters fast enough is that I change my password a lot due to the fact I keep forgetting it! Nevertheless, this time I got it!
They entered the building, expecting someone to notice them and say 'hello' but no one did. Students that looked around their age or older were walking past them, occasionally sending glances towards the new girls. Overall, they didn't really mind the three girls.
Everything looked so foreign to them. The high ceiling, the rough walls, plain floors, the people, everything was different and it caused butterfly bombs to go off in the girls' stomachs. Bubbles became more self-conscious, Buttercup felt so out of place and Blossom saw everyone as commands in the pursuit of knowledge!
"Ok," Blossom cleared her throat. "We need to find the main office. There should be a Ms. Bellum waiting for us."
"I have the school map right here." Buttercup said as she as she pulled out the folded map from her pocket and handed it to Blossom.
"Ok so we're here and the directions to the main office is –"
"No we're not." Buttercup cut in. "We're right here near the back entrance."
"Wrong," Bubbles chimed. "We're at the front entrance."
"You're both wrong!" Blossom insisted. "We passed through some dorms on the way here so we must have entered through this side entrance."
"But look!" Buttercup pointed out. "There are dorm areas scattered all over the school so how do you know which one we passed by?"
"That's true." Bubbles agreed. Blossom was growing annoyed. They can't be lost now! They haven't even been there ten minutes and something already went wrong! Well, looks like there is no other choice.
"Buttercup, you go up and ask someone for directions!" Blossom declared.
"What; why me? It was your idea!" Buttercup protested.
"Fine," Blossom commented with a slight glare. "Bubbles, you do it then."
"I don't wanna!" Bubbles whimpered. "Everyone looks so much bigger than me." She wasn't wrong, for some reason, most of the passing students were male and they were tall compared to the girls' 5'6 height.
"Fine," Blossom groaned uncertainly. "We'll split up and ask for directions and met back here in five minutes. Everyone has their phones?"
The girls pulled out their plain flip phones. Before anyone asks, flip phone does not have in an app store or iTunes. Yes, they still make phones like that.
"Don't wonder too far, and don't cause any trouble. Have I made myself clear?"
"Do we have to split up?" Bubbles did not want to risk getting even more lost.
"Whatever you say," Buttercup sighed.
They split there. Bubbles stayed within the area where they girls agreed to meet back, Buttercup was exploring pretty much, making mental notes back lathe route she took to find her way back later. Blossom was looking for someone to ask. People were talking with other people; it would be rude to interrupt them. Some were reading under some shade, it wouldn't be ideal intrude their reading. Obviously, since she lived in a really small town where there was absolutely no one her age there, she didn't know how to talk to them, let alone interrupt. Her best chance was to ask someone who was walking by.
"Excuse me." Blossom tried to catch the attention of the students walking to their next class. "If I could have a minute..."
Some students just waved, thinking she was trying to say hi, others ignored her, some ignored her on accident either thinking she was talking to someone else or just plain didn't hear her. Either way, Blossom didn't get any help. She sighed.
The autumn wind soothed her, so she didn't feel as bombed out. She was glad that autumn here felt the same as it was at home. The small of aging leafs, cool wind blowing, it'll be a lie if she said it didn't make her homesick.
Looking at the time on her flip phone she realized she had to get going to meet up with Bubbles and Buttercup. Hopefully they had better luck than she did.
"Ow!" When Blossom moved forward, her hair pulled her back. She turned and saw that the wind had blown and tangled her hair onto someone's jacket buttons.
"I'm really sorry I-" Blossom stopped as soon as she saw his glare staring down at her; he didn't have the most gentle face. Glaring red eyes, a permanent frown staining his lips, his brows in slits of a scowl. He had a painful scar slicing down cheek and strong jaw.
"M-My hair... Got caught and... Sorry." Blossom quickly tried to detangle her hair from his front buttons. She never stood so close to a guy who was close to her age, and it wasn't the most ideal situation when meeting someone.
The guy didn't say anything as he watched her fingers fumbling on his button, trying to get her hair untied. She was nervous. He pressed his palm on her shoulder, making her stop and look up. Pink eyes? That's new...
"I'm sorry I- wait!" Blossom saw him pull out a pocket knife and horror crossed her face. She likes her hair! She didn't want him to cut a chunk off, even if it would send them free! When she was younger Bubbles and Buttercup played a mean joke on her and chopped her hair in odd chunk. Long hair coming out from when spot and a fuzzy bold spot in others. She is not going through that again! "Wait, don't. I can-"
Instead of chopping her hair, he sliced his button of his jacket. She was relieved but surprised.
"A girl has pride in her hair, right?" The guy said, his voice deep and monotoned.
"Yeah, thank you! I'm sorry you had to had to do that." Blossom apologized, no longer scared of him or his thuggish appearance. The guy shrugged and picked up the button from the sidewalk. Luckily it didn't fall in the grass or else it might have been lost forever.
"I'm Blossom, by the way." She introduced herself.
"Brick." He said curtly.
"Wait!" Blossom stopped him from walking away grabbing his arm.
Things Brick is Not Use To: #1. Someone besides his brothers touching him. Things Brick is Not Use To: #2. A GIRL touching him.
He looked over his shoulder, trying to keep a cool and collected attitude but he didn't notice that looking over his shoulder, he looked like he was glaring at her to drop dead from other people's perspective. Thankfully she didn't notice.
"I'm lost and I need help finding the front office." Blossom unfolded the school map.
"I'm not good at giving directions..." Brick said.
"Oh." Blossom looked discouraged, shoulders slumped.
"...could I write it instead?"
"Oh yeah! Sure!" Without bothering to take off her backpack she tried to bend her arms to reach her pens. It was amusing to see her struggle. "Here!"
Brick had taken out his binder for a hard surface to write on and drew a star on the map.
"Is that where we are?" Blossom asked, looking over his shoulder.
"Yeah..."
While Blossom was beaming that she was able to communicate so easily to a fellow college student, Brick found it very awkward that Blossom was near him as he wrote down direction. Things Brick is Not Use To: #3. Someone being within his personal space bubble.
"This should take you there." Brick handed her the map.
"Thank you!" Blossom beamed. "Um... Could I bother you for one more thing?"
"What?"
"You see I'm new here. Not just school wise but new to this town and I don't have any friends here..." Blossom pulled out her phone. "And I'll be so grateful if we could exchange phone numbers and you know, do the hanging out? As friends?"
Things Brick is Not Use To: #4. People asking him to be their friend.
"I- uh..." Now it was Brick's turn to stutter. "My phone... Broke... It's getting repaired and... I don't think it's a good idea for someone like you, to be friends with someone...like me..."
"Like you?" Blossom tilted her head. Brick did look very scary, especially with the angry scar on his face. His eyebrows were thin and slit down like he was angry. He doesn't smile much from what she can tell. His hair was long but it was well kept. You could still tell even his he wore a backwards red cap on his head. Despite his appearance, he doesn't act like a bad person at all.
"I see. Then we don't have to start out as friends. We can be comrades!" Blossom said excitedly.
"Comrades?" Brick was confused.
"Yes comrades in the pursuit of knowledge!" Blossom said passionately. "They world is changing! Armed with the knowledge we gathered, we can do what we want! Not even the sky is our limits! As comrades we shall occupancy each other to the best of our abilities in this journey! Not letting each other stray from our goals. To have opportunities and doors open to us!"
"Uh..." Brick was speechless. This girl is a bit...strange? To put it nicely.
"This is why we're here at Pokey Oaks university, right?" Blossom looked up at him sheepishly. "To have doors open to us?"
"..." Brick pressed his lips. "I think I can live with this...being comrades, I mean."
"Yay!" Blossom was relieved. "Since you don't have your phone I can just give you my number and you can text me yours."
"Sure." Brick handed her a sharpie. "If you write it on paper, I'll lose it."
"Oh, then can I write on the back of your hand?" Blossom offered.
"Arm." Brick rolled up his sleeve. It's easier to hid it from his brothers if he cover it later with his sleeve. Blossom wrote her name and number on his forearm with his sharpie and handed it to him.
"I have to go, my sisters are waiting for me." Blossom said, smiling broadly. "See you later, comrade!" She had the grin glued to her face before and after waving good-bye to Brick and running to meet up with her sisters.
Brick stood on the sidewalk and waved until she was out of sight. Thing Brick is Not Use To: #5. Someone genuinely smiling at him. Like she just did.
