Chapter 2 race against time

There are some discrepancies with other authors timeline the car bomb went off November 14 2007. But they said judgment day is November 23 2007. So it's already happened. So i'm changing it to December 23 2007.

The base description: The base has 4 silos. They have been retrofitted. The first one has the room for trucks, and other vehicles, and theirs the blast doors at the end that leads to the stairs. Also in the corner is the elevator. Silo 2 are the barracks. John & Cameron's room is on the first level. The control room is part of silo 2. Though it's like a area that is separated from the silo is the control room with computers linked to satellites and radios. Also has a briefing room.

The second silo in the side is the office, and the generators, and on top of the generators is the hydraulics room. The 3 silo is the cafeteria, and kitchen. It has stairs to go to the 2, and 3 floor and on all floors theirs tables, and chairs. The 4 silo is the laboratory. Their are 3 levels, in this silo with all state of the art equipment.

The doors in every silo that go to the base tunnels. The tunnels reach from the first silo does not go past the blast doors to the stairs but goes the other direction to the fourth silo were at the side has a emergency staircase to the surface. The hydraulics are always primed to push the doors to the surface. All you have to do is break the glass and pull down the lever in the control room.

-With John and Cameron-

Cameron watched John as he sleeps soundly in their quarters. According to her chronometer, it is 08:00 hours.

Deciding he's had enough sleep, she leans over and presses her lips against his.

John started to kiss back, but Cameron pulled back.

"What time is it?" he asked while stretching his joints.

"8:01, time to start the day. We still need to search the rest of the compound, and find Jessica." She says as John starts to put his clothes on.

"I'd like to see what's on that chip that you got from the T-888. Maybe we can find out what he was up to." Seeing John get dressed, Cameron followed his lead.

"John, The T-888 has a power cable we can use to replace my damaged one. If we switch it out, I won't have to enter standby every night."

John looks at her. "Did you have another nightmare? Is that why you want to switch it out?"

"No, John," she said flatly, even though it was partially true, but not her main motivation, "I'm your protector, I can't afford to be vulnerable."

John understood, "Alright we can skin the triple-eight later. We could use his other parts as emergency replacements for yours if anything happens," he said as they finished dressing, "Can you turn off your pain sensors on command?"

"I could power down when you replace that cable," she offered but that wasn't what he was getting at.

"I meant if we have to do other repairs on the run, when you can't afford to shut down," he clarified with a soft tone. The images of a bloodied and damaged Cameron were one's he did not relish.

"I can limit my reaction to it. Future John said pain would help me understand what it means to be human," she explained as they stopped in the hallway.

He didn't like it, but there was nothing he could do about it. "Fine, I hope it doesn't come to that."

Not wanting to dwell on the subject any longer, Cameron move the conversation back to the T-888, "We could melt down the other parts and use them as ammunition. They should go through any terminator chassis if we make them right."

"You and Jessica are going to have a lot of projects, I see." John smiled before kissing Cameron once more.

"Hold on a second, I need to call Derek real quick," He grabbed his phone and hit the speed dial for his uncle. It rang several times before Derek's baritone echoes out of the earpiece "John, I'm guessing you're finally going to tell me where to meet you."

"You have a pen and paper on hand?"

"Yep ready when you are."

"Okay we are meeting at this location 38° 31' 28.5586" N, 106° 1' 21.2981" W. After we meet up we will drive to the new base of operations. Did you get all the supplies we need?" After he gave the location he had a feeling that someone was listening in on there call.

"Yes John we got everything and some extra thing just in case. So since we are getting all this stuff I'm guessing Judgment Day is coming sooner rather than later?"

"Three weeks," he sighed, "Tell mom I said hi," he finished before hanging up.

"We got a problem, Cam." John says with a distress.

"What is it John?" concern in her voice

"Someone was tapping into our call. I got that feeling again. When we meet up with mom we will be walking into a ambush."

"What do you want to do, John?" Giving her utmost faith in her husband.

"I'm going to need you to buy a Savage 110 BA. I know i asked Derek to buy me one, But I'm going to need one sooner. I know it's a Terminator, probably Cromartie."

"I agree. Let's find Jessica, and then you can get the Jeep to get the rest of the supplies, and get ready to set a trap for whoever is coming to hurt us." Cameron suggests as they make it to the elevator.

He nodded in agreement as they continued to walk hand in hand searching for Jessica in the barracks. After not finding her they head toward the last silo.

"She must have been working on one of our projects. She needs structure right now more than ever. She needs to believe that there's hope. With your gift, John, we can beat Skynet once and for all."

"I hope so, Cameron," despite the doubt, he kissed her forehead. He couldn't describe the pride he felt seeing how much she'd grown since meeting her.

"I know so, John, I have faith in you," she said as he leaned back from the kiss.

Once the moment was over they continued looking for Jessica. Finally, they came to a door with the word 'Laboratory' painted on it.

"Jessica is probably in here," Cameron said before opening the door.

It didn't take long to find the woman fast asleep at one of the computers in the room.

"Cameron, over here," John signaled.

Cameron immediately walked over to John and saw her friend asleep at a computer terminal.

"I think it's best you wake her up, Cameron," he said.

Cameron smiled at the idea.

She leaned close to the woman and whispered, "Jessica, it's time to get up."

"No, mom, five more minutes." Jessica groaned while swatting Cameron away blindly.

"Come on, Jessica, it's time for you to get up; we've got things to do." She said more loudly while gently shaking her.

"Alright, I'm up," she said finally while stretching. "What's going on?" Jessica asked as she rubbed the sleep from her eyes.

"We're going to get the rest of the supplies, Cameron wants to search the rest of the base and make sure there are no more threats."

"Okay so what's the plan?" she asked.

"We'll have to drive down the mountain to the lake, and get the tent and other supplies," he explained while Jessica shut down the terminal she'd been working on.

"Sounds fun." Jessica said unenthusiastically. She did not want to go to the lake again.

It was going to be a long day.
