Blaine opens his eyes slowly, wincing at the bright lights surrounding him. "Where am I," he wondered.
"You're in the hospital," Sam answers. He holds Blaine's hand. "After you hung up I was worried about you. I called 911 and had them send an ambulance to your house. I told them about our conversation, about your mom… My parents are your emergency contacts, so my dad came to take care of the paperwork."
Blaine looks at Sam, horrified. "D-does that mean your parents know," he asked, barely above a whisper.
Sam nodded. "I had to tell them. They were worried about you." He began to fidget, wiggling his fingers and biting the inside of his cheek. "There's more," he continued. "The hospital called Child Protective Services."
"Why?" Blaine began to cry.
"It's the law Blaine. My parents had to tell them about the abuse. They sent a social worker and she talked with my parents and I. I told her everything I knew about what was happening to you." With his free hand, Sam wiped the tears from Blaine's eyes.
"Is the social worker going to take me away?"
Sam could see the fear in his eyes. Quick to reassure Blaine, he shook his head. "Well yes, you can't stay at your house. I begged her to let you stay with my family," he smiled meekly. "She said that it was okay."
Blaine smiled. "Thank you Sammy. I owe you so much."
"You don't owe me anything Blaine."
"I do. You are always looking out for me, helping me, protecting me. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be her right now," Blaine stated.
Sam had tears in his eyes. "The paramedics told me that had I waited a second longer, you w-wouldn't… you wouldn't have survived. I almost lost you. I don't know what I would do without you. You are a part of my family. I could never get over losing my family. I would be lost."
"I'm sorry," Blaine said in a rush. "I'm so sorry. It's not enough to apologize for trying to take my life, but it's all I have. I'm sorry. You, Stacey and Stevie, your parents, you're the only family I really have. I am so incredibly sorry that I nearly destroyed that." His eyes were bloodshot and tears were pouring out. After he could calm himself down, he continued. "I would have watched over you though, all of you. I would have made sure that you were happy."
A small smile appeared on Sam's face, and he took a moment before he spoke. "Please don't do it again. You are such an amazing person."
"I think that you may be the only one that sees me that way Sammy," Blaine responded.
"Not true. I have a whole glee club that agrees with me. I know that the as a whole we have our problems and I know that it doesn't always seem like it, but they do care about you too. They would miss you just as much as my family and I would Blaine. Please keep living."
"Okay, I will." For you, he thought. Always for you.
