Tony simply sat there, mouth agape. What did Steve mean by that? 'Didn't even know each other?'. Tony was going to propose to the man tonight for Christ's sake.

"Steve. what are you talking about? This isn't exactly the right time to be playing a joke." Tony smiled nervously, a dark feeling starting to accumulate at the bottom of his spine.

Steve wriggled away from Tony subtly, moving to the absolute other edge of the bed. "Excuse me sir, but I'm incredibly confused. You know my name but I have no clue what yours is. I don't know why I'm here." He paused for a second to check around the room. "And what are all this contraptions?"

Tony Stark had never been more tense. He raised an eyebrow and followed where Steve's gaze had went. Had he just called the heart monitor a contraption? Panic time.

He stood up quickly and walked straight out the door, eyes desperately searching for someone with a medical coat. Speaking of;

"Doctor!" The billionaire called, reaching out and grabbing onto the arm of a passing medical man.

The doctor took a minute to compose himself once he realized who had a hold of him. "Y-yes Mr. Stark?"

Tony tried hard not to roll his eyes at the doctor's star-struck face. "The man in there, Steven Rogers. What's wrong with him?"

The doctor sighed; "I'm terribly sorry Mr. Stark, I completely forgot you were an item.

Steven sustained brain injuries when he crashed. Nothing that will effect his motor skills, but his memory. We don't know what the extent will be, but"

The doctor paused then and bit his lip, a sorry look entering his eyes. Tony went into panic mode level 2 when that happened.

"We don't know if he'll ever regain his memory. Mr. Rogers may be Captain America, but the brain is still human. And his is severely damaged."

Tony released the doctor's arm and let his own flop to his side. He could feel the tears rising in his eyes but he certainly couldn't let the doctor see that much of a personal side of him.

With one glance toward Steve's room, Tony turned on his heel and walked quickly down the hall, trying to escape the hospital walls that were closing in around him, making it hard to breathe.

"Mr. Stark!" The doctor's voice behind him rang out, urging him to come back.

Tony ignored him and pushed his way out of the exit only sign.

A/N: Sorry. My grandpa died, I got a job and dropped out of school. It's been busy.
