"Wanna go for a drink gov'?" Gerry asked.
"I can't, I need to get back to mum."
"I have a feeling that she'd rather you came out with me."
"What are you on about Gerry?"
"Your mum rang me last night…"
"She what?! She doesn't even know how to use a phone." Sandra interrupted.
"She told me to take you out because you love me."
"That's ridiculous!" Sandra scoffed.
"What? Loving me?" Gerry asked wanting to get this straight in his head before he made things awkward.
"No, well yes, just this whole situation. God I'm going to kill my mother."
"So was she right?"
"About what?" Sandra asked, genuinely confused now by this whole situation.
"Loving me."
"She's a complete nutter, she's off her head, she thinks that spending her time watching crime dramas and having lived with my dad qualifies her as a detective."
"Really? Because if you really believe that you wouldn't still be here, I think she was telling the truth."
"And if she was?" Sandra smiled realizing that she could get everything she ever wanted.
"I'd say lets go and have a that drink and see where this leads." Gerry said as he leaned forwards and kissed her. "See sometimes mum's know best."
