Samantha's point of view

I've been under more men then a nautical toilet. Sex was my past time. So why am I so surprised that I have HIV?

The doctor told me this morning. I have to tell someone. With my heart racing I pick up the phone and call Charlotte. The phone rings three times and then Charlotte picks up.

"Hello?"

"Charlotte," I asked.

"Samantha. Are you okay? You sound upset?"
I take a deep breath and tell her what's going on.

"Oh my GOD," Charlotte exclaimed.

"Can you come over," I asked.

"Of course," she said, "I'll get Miranda and Carrie too."

Charlotte, Miranda and Carrie came over 20 minutes later. They all hugged me.

"Are you taking AZT," Miranda asked.
I nodded. I was on 3 pills a day.

"You know," I said, "I don't know why I thought it would never catch up to me. I desevere this-"

"Don't you ever say that Samantha," Charlotte said, "You don't deserve to have HIV"

"But I've had sex before," I said.

"We all have," Charlotte said.

"Yes and we don't have HIV," Miranda added.
I broke down crying again.

Carrie started to say something too but she turned green.

"I have to go to the bathroom," she said.
I nodded. She literally ran to my bathroom and I could hear her throwing up. I was concerned for her and also for me. What if I caught what she had. She came out of the bathroom a few minutes later.

"Are you okay," I asked her.
She shook her head.

"I just found out one of my best friends has HIV. How okay can I be," she asked.
The girls stayed with me until midnight. They said they would meet me again in the morning. I just nodded. I couldn't believe I had such good friends and I fell asleep shortly after they left.
