Chapter 2: The Grim Reaper

The next day, Allen had begun his journey to a nearby town for his mission. Although it wasn't really a journey, the town was only 15 minutes away from the Order. As he walked, he read up on the information for his mission. Apparently there have been reports of Akuma searching around the town for innocence late at night. They have killed anyone unlucky enough to pass by and the town needed help. No one has any idea of where the Innocence may be, but some say that someone took it to keep it safe. The young exorcist was a little puzzled on how to solve this, but he knew this job wasn't easy. He had finally arrived to the town and was about to go ask questions about the reports, but found no one waiting for him. Allen walked around town to look for anyone, but the streets were empty. He tried the shops, but they were closed. Even the inns there wouldn't let him in. It all seemed fishy. Suddenly, there was a scream coming from the center of town. He ran towards where it came from to find a little girl clutching a teddy bear surrounded by Akuma. All level one kind.

"Innocence activate!" His hand shifted into a giant claw then he jumped towards the monsters, shredding through them quickly. He jumped down to the girl and asked in a gentle voice," Are you ok?" The girl nodded with teary eyes.

Why would Akuma attack this little girl? Does she have Innocence? , he thought. A shadow loomed over them as she looked over his shoulder and her eyes went wide. "Behind you!" she yelled. He turned in time to block the attack. This time, he was faced with higher level Akuma. The one that had just attacked them was cat-like in appearance; huge, black, it had wide eyes and an evil grin with sharp teeth, and of course, the mask smack dab in the middle. A pair of cat ears was perched on its back and a tail swung behind it. It kind of looked like those Chinese cats that you see in place but way uglier. Then another Akuma came from behind it and it was just as ugly. It was like a lizard and it crawled on 4 feet and had a long tail. It was also long and black in appearance, but it didn't have a grin on its face. Instead, it had a wide mouth that held a long tongue.

"Run!" Allen shouted to the girl behind him. She nodded and ran to the nearest building that opened up. He morphed his claw into a gun and began shooting at them. His attacks had effectively destroyed the cat like Akuma, but it did nothing to the other. He changed his arm back to a claw and lunged forward, slicing the tail of the lizard off. He landed on the floor and watched as the tail grew back.

"Aw c'mon!" he frowned. The tail whipped at him and it's tongue stretched out for him. Both had missed and hit the floor near his feet. The ground crumbled from his feet as he flew back and skidded onto the dirt a few feet away.

"Agh!" he grunted and looked up in time to see the tail about to descend upon him. He closed his eyes and held his arm up to block the impact. He waited, but it didn't come. He opened his eyes to find a hooded girl holding the tail away from them. She was wearing a black jacket and black shorts with thigh high black socks that were cut off from knee high black leather boots. A sliver of skin between the shorts and socks. He couldn't quite see what it was she was holding the Akuma back with but from his viewpoint he can tell it was some sort of weapon. "Looks like you needed a hand," she said playfully in an American accent. She swatted the tail away and pushed the Akuma away from them with her foot. She can move it with just one foot? Akuma weigh a ton! Who is she? , he thought. It skidded quite a few feet away from them before she looked back at Allen and smiled.

"Just a sec," she said waving at him with a finger-tipless gloved hand before running after the Akuma. She ran at it with great speed almost like a blur. All he could see was a flash of the reflected sunlight and her form jumping from the ground up to a spot against the side of a building. She pushed away from the wall and lunged at the creature. She pulled back her weapon back before slicing the Akuma in half. She dove through the tear she made and landed gracefully on the floor, leaving the Akuma to explode in her wake. After the smoke had subsided she looked over and ran back to Allen who was brushing the dirt off himself with his Innocence deactivated.

"Are you ok?" she asked concerned. He looked up at her as he began slipping back on his gloves.

"Yes. Thank you for the assistance and who are you?" he asked.

She pulled down her hood to reveal her face and smiled. She was slightly shorter than him, had slightly plump cheeks and skin a caramel color contrasting with his paleness. Her hazel-brown eyes seemed to smile up at him like her wide smile. She had long brown hair that fell like cascading waves behind her and bangs that slightly covered her eyes. Inside his chest, his heart was fluttering and his stomach was doing flips. It felt like the feeling he got when he found out that he like Lavi, but it was stronger. She set her weapon down and leaned onto it. It was a long black pole that reached from the floor to her shoulders and at the end was a black as night curved blade. Basically, it was a scythe.

She held out a hand. "I'm Rebecca Miller, a fellow Exorcist," she pointed to the symbol on her chest with her thumb on the other hand. "It's nice to meet you and you are?" He reached out and took her hand, shaking it with a smile.

"I'm Allen. Allen Walker." Both of them stared at each other, finding the other quite attractive. After realizing the long silence between them, they dropped their hands after shaking for a little too long with a small blush across their cheeks."So what brings you by?" Allen asks hoping to put the embarrassment behind them.

"Oh! I'm on my way to the Order. I was just about to leave when I heard the commotion."

"Thanks again for the help! Why are you headed there?"

"It's no problem! We Exorcists have to look after each other right? Anyways, I recently got transferred to this one. I'm sure you've heard the news right?" she asked. He tilted his head in confusion.

"Well, I had only heard that the legendary Grim Reaper was coming! Oh! Speaking of which, have you seen him around on your journey?" he asked

She blinked then giggled at his question. "You're looking at her silly!" His eyes went wide and his jaw dropped a little.

"Wait! Y-you mean…THE 'Grim Reaper'? As in...y-you?" She nodded with a wide smile.

His face was still in a happy shock when he exclaimed," No way! I got to meet 'THE Grim Reaper' before anyone else!"

She laughed and replied," You sure did."

I'm pretty sure that this chapter will be the last short one. Maybe! We shall see! I'm sorry if my fight scene here isn't that good. Well, review please!
