Whoops! A little later than Halloween... Hope you like this one!
The Black Cat's Plan
It was night. Crickets chirped. Owls hooted. Eucalyptus scents filled the air. And suddenly everything stopped. The forest was silent. A black cat slunk out of the shadowy woods. Some say black cats mean bad luck, but others think it's superstition. She glanced around and shot like a startled squirrel to the man made rock formation. A stone door blocked the entrance. The door had no handles. She rubbed her nose against the thick rock and it creaked open. The cat rushed inside. Her yellow eyes glinted dangerously. She had a plan.
Seconds later, a loud pain-filled yowl filled the air. The cat's bait. Soon the prey would come. And soon it did.
A young man, rich and a cat-lover, strolled towards the formation. He peeked inside. What he saw was not a black cat with evil yellow eyes. He saw a dirty dust-covered white cat with beautiful dark blue eyes like the night sky with no clouds. Kittens drank milk by her stomach. The man ran to the mother happily. His dream of getting young cats had come true.
But suddenly it wasn't a dream. It was a nightmare. As soon as the man came through the door, it had shut with a bang. The kittens turned into ugly white worms and the pretty mother cat into the dangerous black cat. Giant hairy spiders started climbing over the walls of the pile of rocks.
Meanwhile at a marble mansion, a woman in a nightdress said, "I wonder where Edward is at this time of night. I hope he won't be out too late."
And then a blood-curling scream shook the land.
When the morning came, there was a skeleton in the middle of the rocks, picked clean and most definitely dead. There was no door, no sign of the cat, and no evidence that a black cat's plan had gone perfectly in the dead of night.
