Chapter One

Elsa POV

The sun sparkled over the fjord of Arendelle, the first snow of winter only weeks away. Within the castle, the young queen, Elsa, was preparing to leave on a much-needed vacation from her duties. The blonde-haired woman was closing her suitcase when her younger sister, Anna, walked into the room, followed closely by her fiancé, Kristoff.

"I expect you to actually relax during this vacation." Anna said, crossing her arms and looking at her sister firmly. "No sneaking work, or sneaking off to check on the kingdom." Elsa laughed slightly, shaking her head fondly.

"I'll try. Please take care of Arendelle while I am gone." she replied, and Anna huffed, rolling her eyes good-naturedly.

"You wound me." she shot back, making Elsa laugh again. The two sisters hugged tightly, and Anna sighed. "Just stay safe. And please don't spend your vacation worrying about us." Elsa laughed again.

"Fine." She said, taking her bag from her bed. She looked at Kristoff as he left the room with her and Anna. "Please, keep her out of trouble." Kristoff grinned at her.

"Of course." The blonde man said, smiling and placing a hand on her shoulder. Elsa smiled back, walking through the halls of her home until she reached the back entrance. It was a familiar place, the same doorway she had run out of when Anna first discovered her powers. Now, it was where she went to get peace and quiet and relax. Elsa placed her foot on the water and smiled when the water froze beneath her foot. She began walking across the fjord, taking in the crisp winter air and the sunlight that shone through the clouds. It took only two hours to walk up the mountain to her beloved ice castle on the North Mountain. Elsa waved to Marshmallow as she entered the castle, and the large snow monster bowed to her. She opened the doors and walked up to her room to place her bags down. After returning to Arendelle, Anna had insisted on helping Elsa decorate the palace, putting in furniture so that her older sister would be comfortable. Elsa placed the items she had packed away in drawers, changing into a more comfortable dress. After putting everything away, she walked down to the kitchen to make herself dinner, another addition Anna had insisted on. Elsa was making herself hot chocolate when she heard the sound of someone crying. She followed the sound up to her balcony, where she saw a person sitting on the railing

"Who are you?" she asked cautiously. The person turned with wide eyes that were tinged red. He had white hair, startlingly beautiful blue eyes, and pale skin. He seemed strangely familiar, but Elsa couldn't quite place how she knew him.

"My name is Jack Frost." The stranger said. Elsa's eyes widened as she remembered back to when she was a child, seeing a white-haired boy hovering outside her window.

"It's you! I knew you looked familiar!" she said in shock. Jack Frost looked at her questioningly, before his eyes widened as well.

"You're the princess!" he exclaimed. Elsa smiled slightly.

"Queen, actually." She replied, and Jack chuckled.

"You seem happier." He said, and Elsa looked at him questioningly, making the spirit blush. "I mean, when I saw you, you always seemed sad. That's why I kept coming. I wanted to make you happy." Elsa felt her cheeks begin to heat, and she looked down.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, and the smile on Jack's face disappeared, and he looked down. It was then that Elsa noticed the tear tracks on his face, and she frowned. "What's wrong?" Jack took a deep breath.

Jack POV

Jack wasn't sure what he was expecting when he arrived at the massive ice palace in the mountains. He hadn't been focusing on where he was going. He found a solid place to land, and he had broken down crying. His heart was broken, and that's all he knew. The wind had surrounded him comfortingly, but Jack barely acknowledged it. When he had heard the female voice ask who he was, Jack's first instinct was to fly off. Something, however, made him stay, so he turned. He was shocked by the sight before him. A woman stood before him dressed in an ice-blue dress, with white-blonde hair tied into a messy braid and sparkling blue eyes.

"My name is Jack Frost." He said, hopping off the railing. He was surprised when the woman's eyes widened.

"It's you! I knew you looked familiar!" she said in shock. Jack looked at her questioningly, before his eyes widened as well. He thought back to the few times he had visited Arendelle, and when he hovered outside the window of the blonde princess.

"You're the princess!" he exclaimed. The woman smiled slightly.

"Queen, actually." She replied, and Jack chuckled. She invited him inside to a small room, and they saw beside one another.

"What is your name? I never actually got to find that out." Jack said.

"Elsa." The woman replied, and Jack couldn't help but think about how her name matched her perfectly.

"A pretty name for a pretty girl." He said, and a grin appeared on his face when he saw Elsa blush. "Before we get into why I'm here, would you mind telling me about yourself, Elsa? Why were you always alone in your room?" Elsa clasped her hands in her lap, looking down.

"That's a long story." She said softly. Jack placed his staff on the ground, and looked at Elsa encouragingly. The young woman told him her story. She told him about how she was born with ice powers and had to hide them from her sister because she had hurt her mistakenly. Elsa told Jack how she was made queen, and how nervous she had felt. She told him about her fight with her sister, Anna, and how she lost control of her powers and ran away from her kingdom. Jack was told about how she created the palace, finally at peace, but then she struck her sister with her powers once again, but they managed to save one another with their love.

"That's amazing, Elsa. I can very much understand how powerful the love of an older sibling for their little sister can be." Jack said, and Elsa looked at him questioningly. Jack took a breath and told the young queen his story. He told her about his non-guardian life, his little sister Emma, and how he died. He told her about his 300 years alone, with no believers, and how it felt. He ended his story with his most recent adventure with the Guardians, the battle with Pitch, and his small group of believers.

"Why do I get the feeling that those Guardians have something to do with why you're here?" Elsa asked, and Jack laughed half-heartedly.

"You're not wrong there, Elsa." He said, and Elsa couldn't stop herself from moving forward and taking Jack's hand. He smiled slightly, closing his eyes.

"I was flying back to the North Pole after a snowball fight with Jamie and his friends. The Northern lights were on, so I knew it was an emergency. I didn't have a snow globe on my, so I had to fly past Pitch's hole, and I was grabbed with Nightmare Sand, and I fell through. I heard someone call my name, and I turned around to see Pitch standing behind me. He was still weak, so I was able to escape with only a few scrapes." Jack said, holding Elsa's hand tightly. She placed her other hand on his arm comfortingly. "I flew to the pole and saw the Guardians standing there, looking upset. Bunny asked me what I had on my shoulders, and I was thinking about how angry he sounded. I looked at my shoulder and saw that I had a bunch of Nightmare Sand covering me." Jack stopped, unable to continue as his voice broke. Elsa looked at him in concern. She saw the look in his eyes, recognizing the look. It was the same look she always had in her eyes before she and Anna had saved one another.

"What happened, Jack?" she asked softly, squeezing his hand. Jack took a deep, shaking breath, and he thought back to two days ago, when it all happened.

*Flashback*

Bunny crossed his arms, glaring darkly at Jack, who was staring at the Nightmare Sand on his shoulders in shock.

"North called us here because Pitch was back." Bunny said, his fists clenched. "I should have known that you'd find him first. You were always different from the other Spirits." Jack looked at the Easter Bunny.

"What are you talking about?" he asked in shock. Tooth flew to him, tears in her amethyst eyes.

"How could you, Jack? We trusted you, and we brought you into our family." She said sadly, and Jack's eyes widened. "You have betrayed us for the last time, Jack Frost. You are no more a Guardian." Tooth shook her head in disappointment as Jack stared at her.

"You think I joined him? You guys must be crazy!" he replied, laughing a bit, thinking they were joking with him. He looked at each of the Guardians, the light in his eyes fading. "You're serious?" North walked to him and gently shoved him back.

"You are a Guardian no more, Jack. Leave now." the large Russian said. Jack looked at the people he thought of as family, tears in his bright blue eyes.

"I would never betray you! You betrayed me! Did you ever trust me?" Jack asked angrily, tightening his grip on his staff. "It makes sense, though. Even when I was human you guys didn't care about me." Through his anger, Jack could see the questioning look that Tooth and Bunny shared, and his eyes narrowed. "When I was human, the only Christmas gifts I ever got were from my parents! The only money I ever got for my teeth was the kind I did when my parents took the teeth. And the only Easter eggs I ever got were from the village Egg Hunt!" Jack turned and hugged the only person who had believed in him, who had loved him like a brother, but who couldn't say anything.

"Be careful, Jack." Sandy signed with a sad look in his eyes. Jack smiled back, putting a hand on his friend's shoulder.

"Goodbye, Sandy." Jack said, and threw one last look at the Guardians, before flying through the window, finally allowing the tears in his eyes to fall down his cheeks.

*Flashback End*

Jack opened his eyes, feeling Elsa's grip on his hand slacken. He glanced up at the blonde and saw that her eyes were filled with tears. Before Jack could say anything, Elsa leaned forward and wrapped him in a hug. Jack froze for a moment, unable to process what was happening. The last time he had been hugged so tightly, as if he was a lifeline, was when he was still human, and he had said goodbye to his mother the morning he died. After a moment, he wrapped his arms around Elsa, and cried. Elsa held him tightly, and he clung to her, to the feeling of being welcomed and loved. At that moment, in Elsa's arms, Jack made a promise to himself. He visited the princess from time to time, but now, he felt at home for the first time in three hundred years, and there was no way that he would ever give that up.

'I will never leave you, Elsa. I swear to the Man in the Moon I won't leave you.' Jack thought, and Elsa hesitantly leaned forward, laying her head against Jack's shoulder in comfort. Jack put an arm around her shoulders, and the two sat in a comfortable silence. .

"Thank you for trusting me, Jack. I know that it can be difficult after you've been hurt by people you've thought of as family." Elsa said softly, and Jack smiled down at the young woman.

"You're surprisingly easy to talk to, your Majesty." He said, and Elsa blushed lightly. "But I think I should be thanking you." Elsa sat back up, looking at him questioningly.

"What do you mean?" she asked. Jack's smile grew.

"I told you that Jamie and his friends were my first group of believers, but I don't think that's true. After a discussion with Sandy, I realized after I first saw you, that you were my first believer." He said, and Elsa looked at him with wide eyes.

"Really? How can you be sure?" she asked.

"Well, after we first saw each other, I felt stronger, and I noticed that my powers were a bit more intense. Sandy's really the only spirit I trust, so I went to him and asked, explaining what had happened." Jack said, and Elsa listened intently. "He told me that those symptoms are normally what happen to spirits who get their first believer, but I didn't want to get my hopes up. When I visited you the second time, I realized that he must have been right, because you looked right at me and waved." Elsa smiled widely up at him.

"My mother used to read me the legends and stories people had written about Jack Frost, and I was so excited because he had the same powers as me. Those stories were really the main thing that kept my hopes up when I was growing up after I hurt Anna." Elsa explained, and she looked down at her hand, waving it to make snowflakes appear in the air. "Even now, though, after a year of practice, I'm still struggling to control it when my emotions get the best of me. When I get really stressed or annoyed, the temperature drops, and when I get excited, it starts to flurry." Jack thought for a moment before a grin appeared on his face.

"I could help you with that, if you want. That way you won't be worried about your emotions getting the best of you." he told her, and Elsa looked at him in shock.

"Really? You'd help me?" she asked, and Jack nodded.

"Of course, Elsa. No one should fear their powers." He replied, and Elsa smiled brightly before throwing her arms around Jack, hugging him as tightly as she could.

"Thank you!" she exclaimed, and Jack laughed as it began to snow around them.

Please review and tell me what you think of the rewrite!

I may be adding extra chapters as well, like I did with the prologue, so we'll see!

See you soon, kings, queens, and Guardians!
