"Annie, sweetheart please I'm sure you'll love it in Forks, Bella does." She wasn't Bella. Why doesn't anyone get that? Sure they looked so alike people thought they were twins rather then a year apart but the differences between both girls were astronomical.
"You didn't." She mumbled as she slumped on the new couch her Mother and new Stepfather had just bought. As much as Annie loved her Mother and her new husband, she was pissed. She was not going to a crap hole like Forks.
Hearing her Mother sigh, Annie's gaze shifted to her Mother's face. The emotions that past over her face confused her. Why was she pushing this so much? She was sixteen years old, more then capable of tending to herself.
"Annie please." Renee Swan, now Dwyer was a pro at expressing sadness. As a little girl Annie could remember countless times hearing her Mother cry. She knew that deep down her Mother still loved her Father, she just never knew how much. Even though she hated Forks, there would always be a place in Renee's heart for Charlie Swan.
"Mom please don't make me go." Annie pleaded, grabbing her Mother's hand in her own hoping she could feel how much going to Forks upset her. She watched as the expression passed over her Moher's face once more. Oh know her comes the responsible side of her Mother.
"Annalise May Swan, you're going to Forks whether you like it or not. You're going to be happy for your sister and you're going to go to her wedding and you will wear a dress. Do I make myself clear young lady?" Annie jerked back, dropping her Mother's hand as if it burnt her. Confusion evident on her own face.
Who did this lady think she was her Mother? Oh wait she was. Annie frowned thinking over what her Mother had just demanded. Why would I wear a dress to Bella's wedding when she's not even getting married. I mean she tells me everything. Right?
"Bella's getting married?' Renee shook her had in confirmation. "To who? Is it that cute native boy, oh what was his name ? John, Joe, no, Jack, not umm, Jake, no, ummm-," Why couldn't she remember his name? She grew up with the kid.
"Jacob?"
"YES! I mean yes, that's it, Jacob. I knew that all along." She smiled slightly, embarrassed by her outburst and her forgetful memory.
"No, she's marrying that one boy she talked for hours to you about. Edward Cullen. He is a very sweet boy and she loves him very much." Renee sighed dreamily as she thought about her sister's love life. How could this happen? This can't be right at all.
"You mean the sleaze ball who left her stranded and broken, like a walking zombie for months? She's marrying that asshole! Why, When, Why, I don't understand. He, he, uhhhh!" Annie was so confused and angry remembering how hurt and broken Bella had been.
How could anybody hurt someone they were suppose to love that much? Annie shook her head. That wasn't love at all. Just thinking about Bella's hurt made tears come to her light blue eyes. Annie quickly wiped them away before her Mother saw. She didn't like crying in front of people. The only person she would cry in front of was miles away and was now apparently getting married to a complete ass. Why hadn't Bella told her? They had just spoken the week before.
She glared over her Mother's shoulder angry at the one person she trusted most and angry at the man she foolishly gave her heart to. This guy was going to pay for the pain he caused her sister. She had always been one to pick fights with people who messed with her family, while Bella being the oldest tried to always talk things out. No. She thought. Not this time, no sir. Bella can get her heart broke for all I care.
"I'm not going Mom." Annie stood from the couch, coming eye level with her Mother. Her Mother's brown eyes widened at her disobedience but she didn't care. She was hurt and angry.
"You're going! Your flight leaves tomorrow early." Renee's expression didn't change as she continued, "I already packed your bags, all you need to pack is your carry on. Phil and I will be joining you a couple days before the wedding." As if by magic Phil walked into the room latching onto Renee's side as if he knew how much further this argument could go.
"You'll be staying with your father. He is rather excited to see his little girl." Annie flinched at those word. She didn't think her Mothers smile could get any bigger then it already was. Her face looked like it would rip in too. She knew it was fake. Annie loved when her Mother smiled. Before she met Phil she would always smile, but it seemed to never reach her eyes. Annie could remember her and Bella would stay up late talking about Renee, both with worry and wonder.
Her Father, Charlie Swan was a completely different story. To say she didn't remember him well would be a lie. Of course she knew the story of her parents divorce. She knew that Renee left right after she had been born, Bella was just a year old. She knew Renee couldn't handle Forks, or at least thay was her side of the story. Sure Annie had been sent to his house along with Bella during the summer but she been the one who had had to contact him.
Renee said that it was because he didn't know how to handle it, her living and taking his children with her. As time went by and Annie grew older she figured it was just because he no longer cared. Living the bachelor life with no worries of little girls? Why not?
Hurt and confused, Annie decided that on her tenth birthday she no longer wanted to spend her summers at his small home in Forks Washington and Charlie never called asking why crushing her little heart even more. Any mention of her Father, the man she thought didn't care always made her angry and defensive. Little did she know that if she would have given him a chance she would have found that he would keep them, her and Bella, forever with him if he could.
"No I'm not going and you can't make me!" She yelled, before storming up the stairs, careful not to trip, to her bedroom slamming the door for good measure. There was no way she could make me go, Annie thought as she laid on her twin size bed. Could she?
