How the Wind Blows: Chapter ONE

Kel and Neal Pairing

POV: NEAL

Her breath felt soft against his skin. Like the wind tickling his neck. He wished she could know what she did to him, yet, he knew he couldn't for he felt he betrayed her. Every breath the tingling spread further down his spine. He almost shivered in pleasure, but restrained himself, he couldn't let her know what she did to him. He knew his best friend didn't feel the same way about him, and never could.

He knew the hug only lasted two breaths but it felt like a lifetime for him. He was leaving with his knight-mistress in two days, and wouldn't see hide or hair of his best friend for the next four years. It hurt to think he was abandoning her to the King's Own, and his annoying blue-eyed cousin. The thought of leaving her simply ripped his being in two. He couldn't help it, as much as he told himself that she would never feel more for him than a best friend, he still wanted more.

Bringing his arm up to caress her head, he stopped himself, and panicked he stepped back. He knew he shouldn't be feeling this. He felt her step forward a second behind him, not ready to let the death grasp she had on him go. His resolve crumbled as he felt his hand caressing her soft silk short cropped hair.

His heart swelled with joy as his lips felt the pressure of hers. He knew this was wrong, that he shouldn't have been doing this, but he couldn't stop himself. He trusted Kel to know what she was doing. She was always the one with the level head. She always had control.

He couldn't do this anymore. He bolted out the door, his mind in a haze. Thinking only of what he had just done. A muffled "Shit" was heard by a dazed and slightly confused Kel, as he reached the hallway. He stumbled his way down the corridor, knocking anyone out of his way without an appology.

He wasn't thinking straight. He'd just kissed his crush of a year and a half and she hadn't responded. The logical part of his brain told him he hadn't given her a chance figure out what was happening before he evicted himself from her presence.

She stared after him, her hands lightly brushing her slightly open lips, her eyes wide and her cheeks blushing a shade of red she couldn't identify.

Old A/N OH! I'm so excited for this new story. Due to the positive response I've received, I'll post the rest of this chapter soon and get to write the rest between… well… life. And sorry about the few spelling mistakes.
