Chapter 2: Chapter
Maya was laying in her bed sleepless. She was shifting and turning , but the sleep wasn't coming. As she laid lonely in the dark ,one image kept on appearing in front of her eyes, a pair of stunning green eyes. They were burning with a passion Maya couldn't understand. That guy somehow got under her skin and made himself comfortable there. She sat up and went to open the window , blaming her incapacity to sleep on the warmth ,that was in the room. She looked out the window, in front of her eyes appeared the most wonderful night sky she ever seen. In New York the city lights blocked any light that could come from the stars. This part of Austin wasn't that lit . There billions of stars shone on the sky and Maya was stunned by it's view. She put her elbows on the windowsill ,her chin resting on her palms and just watched the magnificent view in front of her. Maybe Texas wasn't at all a bad idea, except one thing, Lucas Friar, the man that somehow conquered her mind in just one day. Maya didn't understood why was she so drawn to him. Understandig won't help her with nothing , because she surely didn't want to act on her unwanted feelings. When will I learn my lesson? She asked herself as her mind continued to be haunted by a the hot cowboy.
Maya went back to bed , finally convinced that she should look for the best of this trip. She could have fun a lot of fun, she just needs to let herself. After this Maya fell asleep determined to let herself enjoy Texas.
Riley and Maya were taking their breakfast when Zay , Farkle's good friend approached them. He was tall with slim figure ,confident with a mischievous smile. He was sure charming , with that playful , life loving gleam in his eyes. Maya knew that she could definitely like him and now understood why thought Farkle so highly of him. They met when Farkle was in Vegas. He helped him out from a dangerous situation so Farkle promised him eternal friendship.
"Hello, ladies." He was surely Farkle's friend, both thought as they heard the familiar greeting. "Well, you are sure as gorgeous as Farkle said." Riley giggled cutely at the compliment. "Honey , can you be any sweeter?" asked Zay. He asked the usual polite questions about the hotel , the rooms ,Texas. "Do you like it there so far"
"I don't know yet, we barely did anything. You need to take us somewhere to party." said Maya excited by some wild partying fantasies. Zay thought for a while about that, before his face lit up.
"You sure met Mad Dog. He knows the best places here." The first person ,that came into Maya's head hearing the Mad Dog nickname , was a tall muscular tattooed biker she saw at the bar the day before . She sure hasn't properly met him, but Maya started to feel that he wasn't the one he was talking about, and a voice told her that he surely spoke about Lucas.
"Mad Dog?" Maya asked , waiting for the answer she thought she'll receive .
"Mad Dog?" repeated Riley , her mind surely running to the same image, a tall dangerous person.
"Yeah, my friend Lucas, he greated you yesterday."
"Did you really called that Huckleberry , Mad Dog." the blonde was laughing her ass out. "He surely don't seem like a mad dog to me." It was unknown to Maya that Lucas was standing right behind her chair wearing an amused expression.
"Yeah? Then what do I seem like to you." asked Lucas with a sensual voice. Maya was startled by his sudden presence, stood up abruptly and turned to face him. Their eyes were locked , the tension between was like it could anytime materialize. Riley gasped loudly , while Zay barely contained a snort, Maya's lips curled up in a dangerous smile that promised trouble. Maya was trouble, she always been.
"You know that lamb that Mary had."
"Are you describing yourself." replied Lucas his voice low and sensual.
"Boy , I am a lot of things , but I ain't a lamb." She laughed him of."Zay, here is certain that you know where and how to have fun. Where are we going tonight." It was Lucas turn to smile .
"Are you asking me out ,Pancake." Maya looked at him from her downer position, like she was the one who is watching him from above and not otherwise.
"I am way out of your league, Huckleberry." Even though ,Zay was amused by the situation, he felt sorry seeing Riley's discomfort , so he decided to intervene.
"Will you two stop flirting and keep your attention at tonight and what are we going to do?" They glanced at each other one last time .
"I wasn't flirting." said the two at the same time . Hearing this Zay just laughed.
"I am sure that at the end of the month you two will fall for each other." Zay ignored their disgusted faces and went back on planning. "So Lucas, do you have somethimg fun in mind for tonight?" Lucas took that as a good distraction and tried to describe some good bars.
"Zay, why did you called him Mad Dog. A nickname like that need to be earned." Maya said nonchalantly, not wanting to give up any interest in Lucas. Well she was curious.
"Well, honey, isn't my secret to spill. I'll just say he was a wild and angry person till he lost his old guy."
"What do you mean?" Riley intervened, her face lighting up with curiosity.
"Well, girls, take what you got. Lucas is looking at me like he is planning to kill me." said Zay, obviously unaffected by Lucas's cold glares.
"If Zay can't tell us. Don't you want to iluminate us ?Lucas averted his gaze , preferring to make eye-contact with Zay. His eyes silently arguing with Zay' still sat there totally unaffected. If anything he seemed really amused by the sutuation.
"That's an old ,boring story." It was obvious that he was planning on changing the subject so the girls let it go, but Maya planned on bringing it up later. "So, Maya, you asked for a party. I know a perfect place." He made eye-contact with Maya and she felt her knees weakening at the raw grass green color of his eyes. The lights were playfully dancing in them and Maya was sure that he will be her end. The way she felt drawn to him was different from everything Maya ever felt, and only by thinking about him could make her feel dizzy and that was extremely stupid , She seen him just twice. She brought up every ounce of courage that existed inside of her and looked provocatively in his gorgeous eyes. Maybe I need to get some help, cuz I am going mad. Thought Maya to herself.
"I hope your fun doesn't mean bull riding, Huckleberry."
"You wouldn't know what to do with a bull, Pancake." She had some indecent responses in her mind, but still she was stuck on the last word he said. Pancake. Why he kept on calling her pancake? Am I that flat?
"Why are you calling me ,Pancake?" Maya didn't intended to ask it, afraid by it's meaning, but somehow it slipped. She really didn't understood that stupid nickname. The nicknames she gave her , were about his heritage. This one? She got no idea.
"Because you're a short."
"So? I don't get you."
"A shortstack of pancakes." Maya almost laughed, but she contained herself, but Riley didn't, she was laughing loudly and snorting un-ladylike
"Childish." muttered Maya underneath her breath.
"Who's speaking? From the moment you first saw me, you already came up with nicknames." Maya snorted, knowing he was somehow right. She acted childish blonde will never admit that he was right.
"So about the fun, that hopefully isn't bull riding." Lucas opened his mouth as he was trying to say something , but just shut it back and took a deep breath to calm himself down.
"Well it's an outside party that a friend of me throws once in a month, which is tonight." Maya wanted to make fun on his idea of party , but she shut her mouth, not really wanting to lose any chances of having fun.
"Cool." was the only thing she said.
"That sounds totally awesome. What you wear at this kind of events?" spoke Riley fast and full of enthusiasm. Maya was always impressed of her friend's capacity of seeing every situation as a new adventure. She was full of hope, while Maya her whole life thought that hope is for suckers.
" It is , really fun." completed Zay. "Our friend , Roy, really knows how to have fun." He looked at Maya . "Believe me ,hon, none of New York's clubs will compare to his parties."
"I doubt it, but I'll have try." Zay ignored her and looked back to Riley. "You can wear whatever you want. You'll surely look gorgeous in anything." Riley turned as red as blood.
"Zay?" said Riley his name softly ,as a question.
"Yes , cutie pie?"
"Can we see some horses today, before the party."
"Yes. Lucas has the best horses in Austin. I am sure if you ask him nicely, he'll show you."
"And if you ask me nice enough I'll let you ride one." said Lucas but his gaze was locked with Maya's, provoking her.
"Yaaaay" expressed Riley her enthusiasm loudly. Maya just swallowed hard. Just thinking about those wild beasts made her terrified.
