Guys, I am super sorry I haven't updated this story. I got a huge case of writers block and then some stuff came up...But finally, here is Chapter 2! This chapter does contain mentions of self harm, and later on in future chapters it will become slightly triggering. But for now it isn't too bad...don't forget to write a review!
"Are you fucking serious?" His eyes flew open, staring at the boy-no, man, before him.
Levi's thoughts raced as he sat up. There was no way he missed 13 years of Eren's life. There was no way he had been in a coma for that long. No way...no way...no way.
"Levi! Levi, calm down! If you dont lay back down I'll have to call the nurses in," Eren took his hand, trying to get him to stop ripping off the IVs and heart monitors.
He hadn't realized he had been doing that, so he dropped his hands to his sides. Dizziness overwhelmed him as he lay his head back.
"How could...I have...what about my family? My brother? What about my girlfriend? You?"
"Your brother is out in Iraq...he graduated and I'm sure he'll be on his way home as soon as possible. Your parents are at home, same place as always. As for your girlfriend...she left for college a while back. Said that...she couldnt handle waiting for you anymore...and me...well, I never got tired of waiting. But I was the only one who ever came to visit you...every day. I just...woke up a little late this morning."
Levi squeezed his eyes shut, "Thanks, brat. That means a lot...so...how old are you now?"
"Um...21...going to school online, actually. I'm...gonna try and become a teacher."
"Tch...Doesn't surprise me," Levi couldn't help but smile, but to him it felt like it took all his effort for just that one little thing.
"Wow, hey, are you okay? You just got really pale...jeese, you probably need some food," Eren started to stand, but Levi grabbed his hand before he could, "Get the nurses to do it. I don't want to be...alone...right now."
He nodded, ducking his head down to hide his blush, "I'll stay...as long as you eat something."
Levi nodded, "Get me some damn tea. And the good stuff...like you use to make."
"Levi!" His eyebrows shot up, "I haven't made tea since I was 10!"
"So? I still want a cup."
"You eat first. Then I can run home and make you some."
"Did you not hear what I said? I'm not letting you leave."
"Then how am I supposed to make you tea?" Eren frowned, sitting down on the edge of the bed again.
He scrunched up his nose, sighing, "At least wait til I'm asleep. Then you can go...but you better be back before I wake up."
"And if I'm not?" He joked.
Levi rolled his eyes, "You're still such a kid, Eren."
He stared at him expectantly, his eyes a much deeper green-blue than Levi remembered. He definitely answered his question for some other reason, however.
"Nothing. Now hurry up and get the nurses to bring me some food. I feel like a fucking twig."
"You are," Eren snickered, poking his side.
He jumped before glaring at him, "Stop it, brat."
Eren bit his lip, sighing as he leaned down, hesitating before kissing Levi's forehead, "I'll be right back."
Levi held back a smile, keeping himself from blushing, "You can't leave me either, kid."
Eren went down the hall to tell the nurses Levi was hungry. They told him they'd bring him something, but not anything big. Not many people ate too much after being in a coma for 5 years, let alone 13.
He could tell this was going to be a long day.
Eren sighed, glancing up from the desk to see a short haired strawberry blonde jogging down the hallway.
'No...no, please no.'
"Eren! Is it true? Is he...awake?"
He held back a frown, and instead gave her a half smile. "Yeah. I just talked to him."
"Oh gosh...this is great..." Her eyes started to water, and she hugged Eren before crying into his shoulder. "I can't believe he's still alive. Oh! I gotta go see him!"
She turned, running down the hall to Levi's room.
Eren rested his head in his hands, sighing. He had lost his chance. And now...Levi would never be his.
(Levi's POV)
There was a knock on the door, and Levi called out for them to enter.
He was genuinely shocked when he saw Petra, his eyes growing wide as he sat up and she went over to him, hugging him as she cried uncontrollably.
After a few moments she pulled away, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Oh, Levi...I've missed you so much-"
"Don't, Petra. You left and that's that. Don't think you can just come crawling back now that I'm around again. I'm not gonna just take you back that easily."
She wiped her eyes, nodding hesitantly, "I understand. I can see the way he looks at you. But...he's so much younger than yo-"
He cut her off again, "Don't. I might have agreed with you 13 years ago, but now that he's over 18 I could care less." Levi sighed, rubbing his temples, "Besides, you and I...were good once, and I still love you, but..."
Eren stood outside the room, leaning back against the door as he blocked out the rest of the conversation. He had only caught Levi's last few sentences-the ones about still loving Petra.
He covered his face with his hands, sinking to the floor as he heard the door open. The strawberry blonde lay a hand on his shoulder, "It was good seeing you, Eren. I'll be back to visit tomorrow for a bit. Levi wants me to bring him a few things."
All he could do was let out a disgruntled, "Hmm," as she walked away.
This was a moment where Eren would run home. Run away from Levi's lifeless, unmoving body and crash on his bed, crying and digging his nails into the cuts on his arms and legs.
But he couldn't. Not now. Not when Levi had just woken up. Not when he had just gotten him back. Eren had to stop all his old habits, or Levi would think he was as useless as he truly believed himself to be.
So instead, he stood, brushing himself off before heading back into the room, "They said that you have to-" he let out a small chuckle, walking over to kiss the sleeping man's forehead.
"Had to...what?"
"Just sleep," he muttered, standing up again. He stopped as he felt a gentle tug on his hand.
"Just...stay...for a little..."
Eren knew if he didn't, he would only end up in bed crying himself to sleep again. So, not so reluctantly, he lay down next to Levi, wondering if this whole thing was just a dream.
