Agent Kentucky shot awake, another nightmare drove him from slumber, in an attempt to calm himself he laid back and stared at the ceiling of the barracks. Everything remained the same, the grey Titanium-A ceiling, the dim lighting, and the rumbling of the Albatross' engine. Not a thing was out of place, but he couldn't help but think that something bad was about to happen, it was the same nightmare every night for the past seven weeks. He saw the cracked, golden visor of his aviator-class helmet, but in the reflection of the forward viewscreen of the Albatross. He sat up, thinking that it was nearing time for lights-on anyway. The steady thumping of his shoes on the floor echoed down the hall, and as he sat at the control center, he gazed outward from the viewscreen, enjoying the numerous stars, and knowing that one of them...was home. He pressed the buttons to activate the lights and made an announcement to his teammates.
"This is Agent Kentucky, rise and shine, agents, time to get to work." Kentucky had been stowing away the fact that they had a mission given by the Director himself, which was odd because Kentucky's branch does most of the grunt work that the Director's pets are too good to do. Their mission was to perform recon for a very important mission and deliver the information to the Director. This was their time to shine, and every agent was about to know it. Kentucky waited around 2 minutes until Agent Virginia came sprinting toward him, her blue eyes gleaming.
"What's the job?" she asked, almost shaking with excitement. "You only wake us up like that when we have an important job to do. So...what is it?!" Kentucky remained silent, gathering his thoughts.
"Agent Virginia," he started, "we've been handed a very important job by the Director himself. It's still pretty low-end, but paves the way for the important stuff. The details will be revealed at the briefing, with the rest of the agents, now take your place." Virginia gave an annoyed grunt and put her gold and green recon-class helm on over her short blonde hair. She didn't stand at a great height, about chest-level with Kentucky, but she was wiry, and always wanting to fight something.
