The Perfect Princesses

Once upon a time, there were two princesses, Anna and Emma. They were the littlest, naughtiest princesses in the kingdom. One, Emma was four and Anna was two. Two years difference! Anyway, one day Emma and Anna played in the garden. They got mud all over themselves and the garden. Then, they tracked mud all over the castle, in the bedrooms, kitchen, drawing room, and the throne room. The king and queen were not pleased. The princesses were in big trouble. They were sent to their rooms immediately. They couldn't come out until they promised not to mess up anything at all. (They would have to be very careful.) Of course they promised and were let out. The second they were let out they broke the promise. They broke the French goblets, the English glass, and the Greek platters. So, this time they were taken to a convent to stay with Sister Amber and Brother James. They were treated as if they were regular peasants! Of course, they did not like that. They ate bread and onions on Monday and Friday, oranges and roast beef on Tuesday and Thursday, and raw potatoes and pork on Wednesday. But on Saturday and Sunday they had only water. (They fasted) They were at the convent for six months, before they were allowed back to the castle.
