It was the sixth day of creation, and God was creating the land animals. As he finished creating the dogs and turned to the cats he paused a moment;
"As I gave endurance to oxen and loyalty to dogs so i shall give wit to the cats."
As he turned to do so, the he-cat spake thus:
"As I shall have a barbed tongue, may I have a barbed tail to go along."
