AN: The next update cycle is RWBY. After the last posting I put up the Poll but have since taken it down and reuploaded it as I forgot to put in an idea I really wanted to see the opinion on. If you haven't gone back to vote again since it was put back up, it would be a good idea to do so now.

AN: I haven't decided on Jaune's team yet for this story, I like to shake up the RWBY JNPR mix up sometimes. For his partner I don't think I want Weiss, Ruby, or Yang as 1. I think the Weiss/Ruby dynamic works well if you plan to fix early Weiss' problems, 2. I plan for Jaune and Weiss to have problems for at least a bit and being constantly around the other might force them to get resolved too soon. And 3. I just can't see Yang being a good partner or teammate for Jaune, it's just not clicking for me. That said, I'm liking the idea of Blake as his partner. Maybe having Cardin as a teammate to try and force him to get his act together early on. That said, I want suggestions for who you want as partners or teammates. You can even suggest characters from the other schools shown during the Vytal festival, I'll just rearrange some things and say they were attending Beacon instead. Just put your opinions in the review.

Fury of the Lion

Chapter 2

-Jaune-

Cracking his neck, Jaune dropped his army duffel at his feet, leaning against the back wall of the auditorium, more students trickling in. His ears twitched as he listened in on conversations around him, paranoid and watching for any sign of threat. A few minutes into this, he saw the same girl in the red cloak slink into the auditorium, going over to a blonde with far more hair than was reasonable for someone supposed to be constantly fighting.

A sharp sound filled the room as Ozpin walked onto the stage, tapping the microphone to grab everyone's attention as he began a long speech, going into the expectations laid upon everyone here, how they were the next generation and therefore the future of Remnant. In all honesty, Jaune was tuning the headmaster out, the soul of his friend merged within him, Hercules, doing the same.

"You'll be staying in the auditorium tonight." A new voice caught his attention as a blonde woman with a riding crop stepped forward, giving the students a firm look, "One of our finest second year teams, team CFVY, will be looking after everyone in there. If you misbehave, you'll deal with them." The woman nodded to a team that were off to the side on the stage, most of the fellow first year hopefuls looking intimidated at the giant with a greatsword that towered over the rest of his team.

"So for now, get rest, settle in, and explore campus." Ozpin smiled at the assembled students, "If you need any help, or have any questions, simply ask one of the staff or team CFVY and they'll be glad to help you." Instantly, the crowd in the auditorium began to break up, some wandering off on their own, a few guys going over to try and hit on a girl with a barrette who seemed to be the leader of team CFVY. Shouldering his bag, Jaune walked past Ruby and the Schnee girl who seemed to be arguing, approaching the second-year team and ignoring the dirty looks he got from some of those assembled.

"You need help Domino?" the girl with the barrette and the shades asked, sliding said glasses down to look at him and ignoring the stammering boys trying to get her scroll number.

Ignoring the nickname he was positive came from his hair, Jaune nodded, "Think you can show me where a training room is?"

"A wise request." The giant with the greatsword nods, "I can do so."

"Thanks, you got a name pal?" Jaune asked, nodding to the rest of team CFVY as he followed the giant away.

"Yatsuhashi Daichi." The giant nodded, offering a hand which Jaune took, feeling at ease around the soft-spoken giant.

"Jaune, no last name." Jaune nodded.

"Cause your dad's a bitch." Hercules spoke up with a growl.

"Yes, because my sperm donor's a bitch." Jaune thought back, not even missing a beat.

"So, Yatsuhashi, what's Beacon like?" he asked, turning to the giant.

"It is a truly marvel place to improve one's self." Yatsuhashi smiled "The facilities far outstrip those of the prepatory school I studied at before I came here. Which academy did you study at first?"

"School of Hard Knocks." Jaune snorted, "I grew up on the streets big guy, you learn fast there, or you don't last long. I took the battle entrance test."

"So you are behind on academics?" Yatsuhashi frowned in concern, "What of your diet? I assume you ate what and when you could?"

"What of it?" Jaune asked, shoulders tensing as he felt himself growing defensive.

"I would be happy to help you set a proper diet." The giant either didn't notice his defensive and tense posture, or simply had the tact to ignore it, "And my team would be more than willing to help you with your courses given that we went through the same classes last year and can help you with those and help you catch up."

"That's…generous." Jaune blinked in surprise, not used to receiving help but any but the group he survived with on the streets of Vale.

"We are here to learn to be the protectors of humanity, the guardians of humans and Faunus. Should we not look after our fellow huntsmen and huntresses to make sure they have the help they need to be able to fill that role?" Yatsuhashi asked, treating the question as if it was as simple as asking if one plus one equaled two.

"Thanks big guy." Jaune nodded gratefully.

"I like him." Hercules pipped up, "Hopefully the rest of his team are good people. That rabbit Faunus was cute." Choosing to ignore his friend, Jaune pressed on.

"Think you'd be willing to stay around for a bit to spar?" he asked, "Training is best with someone to train with."

"Are you sure?" Yatsuhashi looked worried, "I do not wish to hurt you."

"I'm like a bone Yatsuhashi." Jaune gave a dark smirk, "Break me and I'll not only heal, I'll grow back stronger than before."

-Glynda-

Silently, Glynda Goodwitch sat with Ozpin and the remaining members of team CFVY. Ozpin had wished to observe the young man travelling with Mr. Daichi and had invited the second year's remaining teammates to observe as well while the other first year hopefuls explored campus. "So…why are we watching this kid?" Coco Adel asked, sounding bored.

"Miss Adel, you aren't much older than that 'kid' to begin with." Ozpin looked fairly amused at the young woman's cocky attitude as he spoke "But I wished for you to observe young Jaune in part because your teammate offered his help to this new first year for the coming year and said your team would be happy to join him in that."

"Help with what?" Fox asked before Coco could protest or comment.

"Jaune, no last name, grew up on the streets of Vale but when he took Beacon's battle entry test broke every known record for it." Glynda spoke up, ignoring the three student's widening eyes, "However, growing up on the streets left him without proper knowledge in many things such as academics, proper dieting, and other matters."

"Of course we'll help him." Velvet Scarlatina spoke up, looking aghast at the thought of not helping someone who needed it.

"Their spar is starting." Ozpin looked eagerly at the screen.

"Look, a first-year breaking entry test records is one thing but Yats is a powerhouse student in his second year." Coco snorted, "He's not going to have any trouble with this guy." As she spoke, Yatsuhashi got the first strike, a solid blow against Jaune's chest and stomach that sent the first year flying into a wall hard. Velvet squeaked in fear while Yatsuhashi on the screen looked panicked. "See?" Coco asked but still winced, having not expected that outcome.

"Wait for it." Ozpin smirked as the students finally noticed that Ozpin and herself didn't seem phased. "And do take a look at their aura levels." Frowning in puzzlement, the three students did so and noticed that Jaune's aura meter was still showing almost a full charge.

"How?!" Coco's glasses actually fell off in her shock.

"The young man down there has a terrifyingly powerful semblance." Glynda explained. "He can not only amplify aura, but it has the passive effect of hardening his skin to the point it's like steel even without amplifying his defensive aura further." That wasn't entirely true in itself. Ozpin, Jaune, and herself had decided to hide the fact that he had two souls in one body from all but those Jaune chose to trust with that secret. In actuality, Jaune's semblance was amplifying the aura and semblances of others while the semblance of his friend Hercules was a passive one that made his skin harder and muscles stronger. Jaune's own semblance amplified that without any conscious effort to the point that her pupil's skin was his own suit of armor. It could still be pierced, or he damaged if one was strong enough or had the proper weaponry, but as it was the young man had an impressive gift, one Ozpin wanted to cultivate and train to help Jaune one day take a seat at Ozpin's inner circle.

"…Can we keep him?" Coco asked after a moment, "Just, I don't know, let him pass initiation and keep him in our dorm? Help him catch up on the classes and strap him to Yats' arm as a nice shield?"

"Coco!" Velvet scolded her unapologetic leader.

"I'm sure the young man would not be so willing to act as a fancy shield." Ozpin smirked dryly, "And he needs his own team."

"Why does he have no last name?" Fox spoke up, "Who were his family?"

"That…" Ozpin's expression darkened, "You'll have to ask the young man yourself. It's his secret, not mine."
