"Okay, but seriously," Tony said. "The rest of the story is being posted on Archive of Our Own."
"Sir?" Jarvis asked.
Tony glanced up at the nearest camera and shrugged. The story had followers, which he undeniably, absolutely loved, but it also made him think he wasn't the only one with a habit of gliding his eyes past author notes.
"I'm putting it in story-like text so it doesn't get missed," He explained. "There's something like forty thousand words of this thing available on AO3 as of now and I'd hate to think of people who are interested in the story hanging onto the FFN page. The rest of it's not getting posted there."
"May I inquire as to why, sir?"
Tony raised an eyebrow and started ticking the points off on his fingers.
"From an author perspective, it's easier to upload chapters, edit, respond to comments, add notes, and organize my works at Archive. I can also add links to things. And from a reader's perspective, the layout is a lot gentler and easy on the eyes. And holy god the tags function on AO3 is wonderful. In terms of searching for stories, it's won, hands down. K.O. Plus, leaving feedback is easier."
"How so?"
Tony turned, surprised. He hadn't heard Pepper open the door to his lab.
She crossed the distance to him and slid arms around his shoulders. He leaned back into her.
"The Kudos function," He explained. "Don't get me wrong, I love comments more, but it's like the difference between getting an M&M or getting a bag of them. I'm still getting chocolate. And all the reader has to do to give it to me is click a button."
"I'm not sure giving you chocolate is a good idea," Pepper teased, flicking fingers through the 'Open Projects' folder.
Tony gave her a challenging look.
"It makes me work faster."
She hummed.
"So, the rest of Refrain is up on Archive of Our Own."
"Yes."
"And this is enough text that anyone clicking into it will probably think it's part of the story and read it?"
"Yeah, I think so. It's like a page, now."
"Then," Pepper tugged his shoulders and Tony obligingly rose from the chair. Pepper slid fingers down around his wrist and started walking him out of the lab. "I can think of more important things for you to do."
With her other hand, Pepper started unzipping her dress.
"Yes ma'am," Tony agreed, grinning.
