Official Disclaimer

The characters of Lieutenant Commander Steven 'Steve' McGarrett, Chin Ho Kelly, Kono Kalakaua and Adam 'Toast' Charles do not belong to me in any shape or form. I am merely using them for my own entertainment purposes.

The character of Detective Sergeant Danielle 'Danni' Williams probably can be considered to be mine by now. Although she was originally based on male Danny, she soon evolved becoming her own person. She has her own background, her own family, her own history and her own distinct personality. This isn't to say that the Danny Williams we all know and love is completely gone, he still emerges through her at times. I like to think of female Danni as what Danny could have been if everything in his life had gone his way. As in full custody of Grace and a decent relationship with his ex.

The character of Grace has also changed slightly due to the change in Danni. Her surname is Taylor as this is her father's surname and was Danni's married name (Danni reverted back to her maiden name when she was divorced). Her parents also are amicable which has also impacted Grace but never fear, she's still the sweetheart we know and love, if anything she's more a sweetheart now.

The character of Jack O'Connor, David Williams and Riley King also belong to me as does any other character who you do not recognise from the show. Please do not use them, or my version of Danni and Grace without first asking for my permission to do so.

Thank you.

Here is the next chapter for you all.

This story was written with the very talented TealRose and features in the 'What could have happened' saga which was based on the canon law which I've created and which could have easily made it into my canon saga but didn't.

Please enjoy!

Overall Summary

When Steve and Danni go undercover as a married couple they didn't quite expect the weekend to turn out the way it did… sometimes the lines between what is real and what is not can become blurred, resulting in things they never thought possible (Steve x female Danni (OC) )

Chapter Summary

Danni breathed out slowly, bringing up her almost forgotten memories of the Yoga classes she used to attend while back in Jersey, in an effort to calm herself. She leaned back against the unfamiliar leather seats of the Ferrari which Steve had insisted that they rented for the stay of the operation. Danni would have been happier in the familiar interior of her Camaro but that was impossible for this mission since it was a well-known fact throughout the island that if you were a criminal and saw a silver Camaro coming towards you that you needed to hightail it out of there because it meant that McGarrett and Williams had your scent and were hunting you.

Chapter Two

Will you act married for god sake

Normally, the thought that they had the criminal element scared would have caused a smile to come to Danni's face, especially if Steve happened to be in the vicinity when someone said it so she could see a glance of his rare grin. At this one moment in time however she couldn't help but wish that they were a little less well known.

She shifted in her seat, tilting her head to the side so she could stare out of the window, Steve's voice as he spoke to Jack over his cell phone creating a pleasant white noise, allowing her to focus her attention on her thoughts.

She was nervous, not so much about the planned operation because that was solid and they had all been a team long enough now to work as an unbreakable unit, all of them well aware of each other's faults and strengths and were now able to adapt to them. While Danni may not have been the team's first go to when it came to undercover operations due to her distinct colourings which made it hard for her to blend in with the locals, she still had enough experience from her time in New Jersey to know exactly how to act in any given situation she may have found herself in.

The root of her nervousness was the knowledge that she was going undercover as Steve's wife.

Danni wasn't a stupid woman, if anything she was the opposite of one, and she had realised quickly that she had broken the cardinal rule and fallen head over heels in love with her partner. It had surprised her, especially because Steve wasn't her usual type, but there had been nothing which she could do. Every attempt she had made to try and separate herself from the dark haired man had failed, resulting in Steve holding on tighter to her and doing something incredibly sweet which caused her to fall even harder than before.

Realising that it was a loss cause she had allowed herself to settle into a routine, making the silent promise to herself that she wouldn't tell Steve how she felt in case it jeopardised their partnership. It was a promise which was becoming increasingly hard to keep and one which she wasn't sure she would be able to keep if she was forced into the role of playing a loving wife to Steve's doting husband.

Danni shook her head, burying the thought as she dug her nails into the palm of her hand, using the pain to focus herself.

She was here and here for one reason only.

To find their kidnapper and bring him into justice before he could target more innocent people. People who wouldn't have the survival skills to make it back to civilisation and help.

Danni jumped when she felt a large, warm hand curl round her forearm, squeezing down on it. She turned her head away from the window, meeting Steve's concerned eyes.

"Hey, are you okay? I've been trying to get your attention for the past two minutes Danni" He stated with a frown. Danni blinked, aware of Steve's thumb stroking back and forth across her skin, the touch familiar and comforting.

"Me? Yeah I'm completely fine, I was just thinking about the case that's all" She replied briskly, pulling her arm away from him as she continued. "What did you need to tell me?"

"I said that it was time for us to go, are you ready or do you need more time?" Steve asked, the concerned frown remaining on his face as he searched her eyes.

"Am I ready to get this jerk who had been hurting innocent people off the street?" Danni replied before she glanced away from him and nodded. "There's not a day of the week where I'm not ready to do that"

"And that is one of the things I love about you partner" Steve said, reaching out and patting her arm before he pulled his hand away and placed it back on the steering wheel, twisting it and pulling away from the kerb and into the heavy steady of traffic passing them by. "Jack and everyone is in place so as soon as we step out of the car door then we're in play. We can't use the name McGarrett for obvious reasons and Williams is a bit too well known as well so as far as the hotel are concerned we are Steve and Danni FitzGerald" He told her with a glance at her.

"That makes sense" She replied, her eyes dropping down to stare at her wedding and engagement ring which Steve had passed her back when they were at their headquarters. Danni didn't know quite what she had been expecting from Steve but it certainly hadn't been the beautiful rings which sat perfectly on her left ring finger. The diamond on the engagement ring was a platinum emerald cut diamond, large enough that it could easily be seen by people without it looking ridiculous on her small hand. The wedding band was platinum as well and exactly the type of ring which she would have picked for herself if she had been allowed to go with Steve to pick it.

Looking back up, she breathed out slowly focusing her mind back onto the task at hand.

This would be the same as any other undercover operation she had been on.

She would make sure of it

Steve tightened his grip on the steering wheel, his eyes flickering between the road and the passenger sitting next to him. It felt as though there was a wall between them, as if Danni was trying to shut herself down emotionally. She was quiet, her gaze fixed on the passing scenery, speaking only about the case just like she had done when they had first met.

Danni had always been approachable to people, friendly and polite, stepping in more times than he could count to smooth out a situation which had been part of the reason why Steve had made her the point of contact with the rest of the departments on the island. A decision which had worked out extremely well and which he never regretted.

There had always been a lingering thought in his mind that Danni held herself back from the rest of team, hiding behind a protective wall which they had steadily been chipping away at since the team officially became a team. They had been succeeding and every new facet of Danni's personality they revealed merely made him fall more in love with her.

Now it felt as though those walls had gone back up making him more determined than ever to rip them back down to get his Danni back.

His eyes landed on his ring finger, staring at the platinum band which he wore. It felt surprisingly comfortable and familiar as though he was meant to be wearing it though he suspected that the reasoning behind that feeling was because it was Danni who was wearing the matching pair to it.

He pulled the car up outside the entrance of the hotel, glancing towards Danni, some of the unease in him easing when she shot him a reassuring smile before she took off her seatbelt and exited the car. Killing the engine, Steve climbed out as well, his eyes tracking his partner's movement as she moved round the car, a fluid gracefulness to the movement which spoke of the years of dance training which she had admitted to having one night when they had been sitting in her back garden, feet dangling in the pool, drinking wine.

His eyes narrowed when he realised that he wasn't the only one who noticed how attractive his partner was. The valet who had been leaning against the wooden podium with a bored look on his face, suddenly stood up with a grin, his eyes sweeping over Danni with a look which barely escaped being a leer as far as Steve was concerned. He bit the inside of his cheek to stop himself from saying something as he gave Danni an assessing look.

She was dressed simply in a summery looking dress and a pair of black wedges, an outfit which he was used to seeing since she tended to wear similar outfits while at work though perhaps those outfits weren't quite as bright as the blue one she was wearing now.

"Can I help you with anything Ma'am?" The man said, his eyes fixed on Danni, acting as though no one else existed for him. Steve growled under his breathe moving to Danni's side and casually dropped his arm around the younger woman's shoulders, meeting the man's dark eyes when they swung round to look at him.

"You can help by parking the car for us" Steve told the other man, picking up on the cold tone which came to his voice as he threw the keys to the Ferrari to the man. He pulled Danni to his side. Silently staking his claim on her, something which the other man clearly picked up on if the way his gaze flickered between the two of them was any indication. The man coughed as though he was embarrassed at being caught in the act of leering and shifted on the spot before speaking.

"Of course Sir, I'll just let Leon take your bags out of your trunk for you and then I'll park her up. The key to the car will be left in the reception area with the duty manager. As soon as you want to take the car out again you can call them and they'll make sure it's available for you to take." He explained professionally with a nod at them, the tone a complete counter to his awkward body language. Steve noticed his eyes focus on their ring fingers, clearly picking up on the matching wedding rings and linger for a second before he looked back at them, forcing a smile on his face.

"Thank you for your help Tony" Danni commented, flashing a smile at the man before she slid her arm around Steve's waist, slipping her hand into the pocket of his jeans.

"You're welcome Ma'am, here's Leon now to collect your bags" Tony stated, waving his hand towards another man who was exiting the hotel wearing the same black trousers, white shirt and red blazer which must have made up the official uniform of the hotel employers. Tony approached him and the two of them spoke for a moment before the second guy move to the back of the car and popped the trunk, pulling out their baggage and placing it on the kerb.

"Time to get this show on the road then" Danni murmured softly, allowing Steve to lead her into the hotel foyer area, the pair of them joining the short queue in front of the reception desk, both of them remaining quiet as they waited.

"Guys, I'm no expert but I would make the guess that a couple who are on their second honeymoon would be… well chattier with each other, especially if they were happily married. If you stay quiet people will think you are arguing or something" Toast commented over the coms sounding almost bemused by it all.

Steve sighed silently when he felt Danni tense up beside him, he knew how much she hated feeling as though she was on display to people, even if those people were her own team. Still, Toast did have a point.

"So come on then love, enough with keeping me in suspense, do you like your surprise? I mean it's not like it's every day that you get to go on a second honeymoon in a place like Hawaii after all right?" He said, his voice at its normal level so others around them could hear what they were saying to each other. He glanced down at Danni, smiling at her when she tilted her head back so she could see him.

For a moment, she remained quiet before she returned his smile and spoke, a soft and loving tone to her voice which he had only ever heard her use a few times and only once in his direction. A time which is he was being honest with himself he treasured.

"I'll be the first to admit that you had me completely fooled, I've got no idea how you managed to keep all of this a secret from me, you must have been planning it for months." Danni answered as she crossed her arms over her chest, her gaze moving around her, lingering on the faces of the hotel employees. "Are you actually going to fill me on what your plans are for the next few days? I mean have you got anything planned or are we just going to take each day as it comes because if that is the case then there is a good chance that we won't see many of the sights Hawaii has to offer" She commented lightly with a slight laugh as she looked back towards Steve

"I have a few things planned for the two of us but the thought of missing out on some of the sights so we can stay together in our hotel room together seems a good idea to me." Steve said, a husky note coming to his voice which made her shiver in response.

"I bet it does" Danni responded, trying to keep her smile off her face when she heard the sound of static over her ear piece followed by Kono's voice.

"Come on boss one and two, Toast is right, you could at least try and act as though you are a married couple who are here on their second honeymoon and who are still madly in love with one another. I mean you sound like you're married but there is enough space between you both that you could fit an elephant in there and still have room for a few more. Unless you act like your married then people won't believe it and we really need them to believe it, that's the whole point of this after all." She stated firmly.

Steve resisted rolling his eyes at her tone as he stepped into Danni's personal space, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her close to him so that she was plastered against his side. Danni bit her lower lip, trying to ignore how natural it felt to have his arm around her which meant that she was in a great deal more trouble then she had previously realised. She had caught a glimpse of what Kono had been talking about the night before when she had turned the TV on after Grace had gone to bed to see a panel of women gushing over a picture of Steve without his shirt on and had been surprised by how irritated she had been over them treating him as though he was a piece of meat.

She blinked, pushing the thought away as Steve's hand caressed her side causing her to swallow hard, her eyes drifting closed for a moment as she tried to compose herself before forcing them back open. She tilted her head back so she could see his face and smiled softly at him before she spoke.

"So are you planning on giving me a massage during the honeymoon beloved because you know how I feel about you giving me massages." She stated as she wrapped her arm around his waist, slipping her hand into his back pocket so that the palm of her hand was resting against his ass.

"Oh, I'm sure that I can make sure that you get a massage from me baby" He answered her. They fell silent for a moment as Steve dealt with the details of the room, signing in under his fake alias and taking the key from the woman behind the counter with a nod at her before he turned and guided Danni towards the elevator, stopping outside of it, watching as Danni reach forward and hit the call button.

Danni took a moment to glance around her, her gaze landing on a bell boy who was dressed in the hotel uniform. He was standing near the reception desk, staring at the pair of them intently, his pale eyes slightly narrowed. She turned back to Steve, going up on her tiptoes and wrapped her hand round the back of Steve's neck, using the grip to pull him down towards her, thankful when he didn't resist. She pressed her mouth beside his ear and spoke quietly to him.

"The bell boy on your four O'clock Steve, the one by the desk has been staring at us for the past few minutes or so, more than what is normal for someone to stare especially as we're not doing anything. He might be our guy or at least a person of interest. We may actually be dealing with a team rather than an individual." She told Steve, knowing that the team would hear her through their ear pieces.

Steve nodded slowly, knowing she would feel the movement.

"Is he still watching us?" He murmured to her watching as she leaned back from him and glanced over her shoulder towards the desk before she looked back at Steve and nodded, her eyes flickering to the elevator they were still waiting for. Steve smiled at her. "Well in that case let's give him something to look at." He told her, catching her quick questioning look before he leaned down, his own hand wrapping round her neck as he kissed her. Her lips were softer than he imagined they would be, still against his for a moment before she hesitantly began kissing him back, her hand coming up, resting lightly against his chest.

Steve fought the urge to pull her even closer, slowly leaning back as he stared down at her, taking in her dazed expression, a smile coming to his face as he stroked his thumb over her skin.

If he had been in trouble before it was nothing than the trouble he was in now as he wondered whether the two of them would actually survive the weekend.
