~ Winter Sonata: Chapter 1~
Red, orange, yellow… those were the only colors that stood out from the black abyss of the night.
"Please! Will you just listen to me for once!?" A voice was clearly heard amidst the chaos. It was urgent – almost pleading.
"I… I'm sorry, Lass. But I can't." Another voice – female this time. "I can't put you in danger for my stupidity." I can't afford to let you die in my stead…
The girl took a step back. "Arme… Please! Don't do this!" She shook her head, purple locks swaying side to side. "I'm sorry…"
A faint blue light surrounded the platinum blonde. Knowing where this was leading, Lass pounded on the light barrier, "Arme-!" She gave him a sad smile in reply – crystalline tears running down her pale cheeks.
"Good bye, Lass. Take care of my brother for me, please… I love you…"
"ARME…!"
Light consumed his entire being before darkness took over. Then, silence. All was quiet – not a single sound was heard.
...
"-solet!" Someone nudged his side. With this, Lass groaned.
"Oh for Pete's sake… wait, who's Pete? Anyway, if you don't wake up at the count of three… you'll surely regret it!" Lass ignored this statement. There was a moment of silence, then a sigh. The counting started.
"One."
…
"Two."
…
"Three."
…
He sighed again. "Sorry, but you asked for it~" Lass jolted awake after feeling a cold sensation travel down the curve of his neck, soaking some parts of his upper uniform and blazer. "What was that for!?" He asked – anger evident in the tone he used.
"It's your fault for not heeding my warning." Jin said as a matter-of-fact. Lass' eyes narrowed when he saw the mirth in the other's saffron eyes. "You could have just said there was something important you needed to say rather than dump cold water on me!"
"I doubt you'd listen." Jin stuck out his tongue.
…
Lass pinched the bridge of his nose – a gesture he did when his patience was running thin. "Well? What do you want?"
It took a while for the crimson lad to reply – nervousness eating him alive. "Uh… He… wants to see us… It seems we have a new mission."
…
"… What?" Lass' previous annoyance was replaced with anxiety matching his companion's. He didn't like where this was going.
"I know you heard me… He wants Pride to come as well." Before Lass could say anything, Natsu suddenly appeared by his side, "What's this about a new mission?"
And all hell broke loose. Well… for him at least.
