Chapter 2
-Abandoned Warehouse-
Malcolm was walking through his safehouse when he heard footsteps and chuckled to himself. He knew it wasn't the league, they wouldn't be so sloppy.
"You're clearly not league of assassins. They wouldn't be this sloppy" reprimanded Malcolm, turning around to face Laurel.
Ducking the charge from Laurel with his hands behind his back, he turns to face her. Ducking two more of her attacks lands her on the floor. He hadn't even made a strike yet and she was making herself look foolish.
"That's right. I forgot. Oliver mentioned you were having some identity issues, though he didn't mention about delusions of grandeur" said Malcolm, mockingly.
Dodging another two strikes by raising his arm above her baton and moving his leg, he decided to end it. Kicking her in the ankles and striking the back of her neck sends Laurel to the floor again.
"You killed my sister, you stupid son of a Bitch!" Shouted Laurel.
When she charged at him again, Malcolm grabbed her arm, kicked her in the rips and turned around taking her baton and kicking her in the rips again before walking a few steps away.
"Now you're just embarrassing yourself. Your sister's teacher was my teacher. Did you really think you could dispatch me with a stick?" asked Malcolm, mockingly.
"No" said Laurel, pulling out a gun.
"I suppose we are gonna see if being a killer runs in the family" said Malcom, not fazed.
Suddenly league warriors drop all around Malcolm and Laurel. One of the warriors drops down and knocks the gun from Laurels hands before putting his sword to her throat.
"Step aside, Laurel" said Nyssa, determined.
"Nyssa!" exclaimed Laurel.
"This does not concern you. We've have come for Al-Saher" said Nyssa.
Drawing her sword, Nyssa blocks the attacks Malcolm made with Laurels baton and immediately strikes again in a reverse grip uppercut.
Malcolm managed to hit her head dazing her but she back up and throws him around until they end up with their weapons locked unto each others necks and their arms pushing against the others.
"You swore to me you didn't kill Sara. I never believed you" said Nyssa.
Getting out of the locks, Nyssa hits him with a few more strikes before downing him with a kick behind the knee. Quickly standing over to stop him from moving, she hits him in the face, knocking him out.
Looking up Nyssa nods to two assassins in front of her to take him. Then turns to Laurel who was still being held back by an assassin, with his blade against her throat.
"It is admirable of you to honour your sister, but you can rest now. Sara's murder is avenged" said Nyssa, still angry.
-Arrow lair-
Oliver walks down the stairs in a temper.
"Where is she? Hey! I told you Merlyn was off limits" said Oliver, angry.
"I know. And then I realised that I didn't really give a damn" said Laurel, walking past him.
"This is why I keep secrets from you. Because you let your emotions dictate your actions, and it is gonna get you killed. Did you really think that you had a chance against Malcolm Merlyn" said Oliver, telling a hard truth.
"Nyssa and the league kidnapped Merlyn" interrupted John.
"I know, Thea traded Merlyn for safety. She was able to contact the league because they are in town on the hunt" explained Oliver.
"Merlyn has a video of Thea killing Sara. First thing he's gonna do is show that to Ra's, then we are right back at square one" said John.
"Making that video was a bluff to make me challenge Ra's. Merlyn loves Thea. He would never just serve her up" said Oliver. "We have to get him back" finished Oliver, realising how much he had been played.
"What?" asked Laurel outraged.
"Yeah, I'm with her, because it just sounded like you wanted to rescue Malcolm Merlyn from the league" said felicity just as outraged.
"My sister did this because she is angry. Eventually she will settle down and realise that she basically just killed her own father. There's no coming back from that. The guilt will just eat away at her until there is nothing left. I will not have her go through the same as to what I went through twice" said Oliver.
"I'll start with the private airfields" replied Felicity.
"No. Oliver, Merlyn Murdered my sister and corrupted yours and now you want to save him?" asked Laurel, rhetorically
"We are not having this discussion, I have already made up my mind and you do not need to be here" said Oliver, coldly.
"I got something. Could be a coincidence but the security camera at Starling City Aviation just went dark" said Felicity.
"I'll handle it" said Oliver.
-Airfield-
Standing in front of a helicopter an assassin takes of the black hood covering Malcolm's face.
"Hell will be a paradise compared to what my father has in store for you, Al-Saher" said Nyssa, walking up behind him.
If Nyssa was being honest with herself, she didn't actually know what her father had in store for Malcolm but knew that it would be painful.
"Only because of my Undertaking. Your father doesn't care about Sara's death, just as you know in your heart that your relationship with Sara has cost you any chance of taking your father's place" said Malcolm, truthfully.
Looking into Malcolm eyes, Nyssa knew he was speaking the truth but didn't want to admit it. She just open and closes her mouth.
Hearing a motorcycle they turn around to see Oliver riding towards them.
"Get him aboard, I'll deal with this one" said Nyssa, annoyed at his interruption.
Drawing her sword, she takes on Oliver. Meanwhile Malcolm tries to break free unsuccessfully.
Oliver kept using either his bow or hand to block or redirect Nyssa's sword from inflicting damage upon his person and soon they were at a stalemate.
Three of the assassins grabbed Malcolm and dragged him onto the helicopter
"Your sister told us Merlyn killed Sara. Are you so lost you'd deprive me of my justice? said Nyssa. Why did you fight my father?" asked Nyssa, curious.
"I had no choice, you will find out soon enough" replied Oliver, cryptically.
"This isn't justice. It's vengeance!" replied Oliver.
"Vengeance is justice!" said Nyssa, angry.
Charging forwards Nyssa tries to hit several strikes on him, all of them Oliver blocks. Landing a kick on her, he fires a grappling arrow that ties around her.
"GO!" Shouts Nyssa to the helicopter.
Drawing another grappling arrow, Oliver fires it at the helicopter trying to prevent it from leaving but an assassin cuts it and it flies away.
"He's gone. Malcolm Merlyn will never be seen again" declared Nyssa.
-Arrow lair-
Nyssa was meditating in the cage Oliver put her in while everyone else was talking. She found it helped her keep calm.
"So, what's the play? Trade her for Malcolm?" questioned John
"Ra's will not make that deal. Even for his own daughter" replied Oliver.
"What are you doing with her?" asked Laurel
"What are you doing here, I thought I made it clear I didn't want you here said Oliver angry.
"I'm not leaving" replied Laurel.
"I need the room" said Oliver, dismissively.
"Your gonna torture her to find out where Nanda Parbat is?" questioned Laurel.
"I need the room" said Oliver, cold and firmly.
"Everyone clear out" said John.
Once everyone had started walking out John continued his speech. "Oliver, listen. I know what you are doing and I know why you're doing it. But you can't save Thea's soul at the cost of your own".
"I'm not putting my soul at risk, it is already too damaged to be repaired" replied Oliver, darkly.
This last conversation between Oliver and John had gained Nyssa's interest but she didn't let it show. What were they talking about saving Thea's soul for and Oliver spoke about himself like he was broken, why? Thought Nyssa.
John went to join the others outside the room.
Crouching down in front of Nyssa sitting in the cage Oliver began his questioning.
"Laurel was right. I need to know where Nanda Parbat is" said Oliver.
"Was she also correct you intend to torture for that information" asked Nyssa.
Grinning Oliver continues, "No. Because we know I won't have to" replied Oliver, amused.
The grin did something to her but she continues with her answer. "You placed Sara's killer under your protection. Your every action has been aimed towards the frustration of justice. I will gladly tell you where to find my home..because you will…. die there" said Nyssa.
-Verdant Nightclub-
"It's like mission impossible in here" said Roy.
"Yeah that's the idea. Make it impossible for the league to get the drop on us" replied John.
"I thought Thea got us off their hit list" questioned Roy.
"Yeah that was before we put Ra's al ghul's daughter in a box" said John, not happy with the situation.
"Taking prisoners now. Isn't that crossing a line?" asked Laurel.
"Actually, Oliver has an entire prison on Lian yu" blurted out Felicity. "Maybe I shouldn't have told you that".
"Nanda Parbat is hidden beneath the Hindu kush" said Oliver, walking in.
"That was quick" said John, surprised.
"She wanted to tell me. Thinks I'm gonna die there" said Oliver bluntly.
"She's not the only one. I understand facing Ra's when you were doing it for Thea but-" started Felicity.
"I am doing it for Thea" said Oliver, annoyed that she was questioning him.
"Look, I may not agree with it, but I understand what your trying to say. You don't want Thea to live with the guilt of getting her own father killed. But how is her brother dying any better?" said Roy.
"I don't plan on dying" said Oliver, darkly.
"That's what you said the last time you went to go face Ra's and how did that turn out for you?" questioned Felicity, rhetorically.
"Oliver, I'm about as angry with you right now than I've been with everyone in my life, but doesn't mean I want you going on a suicide mission" said Laurel.
"You're unusually quiet" said Oliver to John.
"Yeah. Guys, want to give us a minute? asked John, rhetorically. So Thea served up Merlyn, you want to save her from regretting that decision. Yeah, I get it" started John.
"But?" supplied Oliver
"But, Oliver I shake the feeling that there's something more at play here" finished John
"It's Thea plain and simple" said Oliver
"Are you sure?" questioned John, not believing him.
"Right now, it's the only thing I am sure about" said Oliver firmly.
Walking away Oliver went to find Roy. Finding him outside he went to talk to him.
"Roy?" said Oliver
"Can I talk to you in the lair, in private?" asked Oliver.
"Sure, let's go" said Roy.
-Arrow lair-
Nyssa was surprised to see Oliver walk back down the stairs again but figured he needed something.
"What did you want to talk about Oliver" asked Roy.
"I need you to do something for me" said Oliver.
"What is it" questioned Roy.
"If I am not back by the end of the week, let Nyssa out of the cage and tell her to go home, understand?" Questioned Oliver.
"Oliver I-I understand" said Roy.
"Take care of my sister" said Oliver to the one man he knew would listen to him.
"I will" replied Roy, sincerely.
"Thank you" said Oliver touching his shoulder on his was past.
Nyssa was surprised, this was different from how she had seen him around everyone else. It was clear he cared a lot about his sister and Roy but why was he afraid to be himself in front of the others, at least she thought this was himself.
