Disclaimer: I do not own Eragon.
Galbatorix asked, "Any last words?" Roran stared at Galbatorix defiantly. Galbatorix exclaimed, "I thought not. Execute him!" The Razac were quick to obey him. "Murtagh, prepare the ritual." Galbatorix commanded. Murtagh obeyed. Murtage chanted, "Allae illea biael leal isla." three thimes. Galbatorix would be able to find Eragon where he went. Eragon would now have to obey Murtagh and indirectly Galbatorix because of the spell!
"Bring me our guest." Galbatorix ordered. The Razac left and brough a sluggish, defiant Eragon into the room. Eragon shouted, "What did you do to my cousin and Katrina?" "You are not in any position to be asking questions." Murtagh sneered. "Now. Now. Let's not be hasty. Murtagh, please give our guest an example of what his life is going to be spent doing from now on." Galbatorix said. Murtagh replied, "My pelasure. Eragon, jump." Eragon jumped. Murtagh gave Eragon a series of commands which he obeyed.
Eragon stared in shock at Murtgah and Galbatorix. "Why was I obeying you?" Eragon asked. Murtagh explained and watch with glee as Eragon's face paled. Muragh asked, "What do you want Eargon to do, Galbatorix?" "Nothing yet! Show Eragon to his rooms." Galbatorix replied.
The Razac dragged Eragon to his rooms. Eragon planned and plotted, but could see only one solution. The spell would break if he killed Murtagh. But if he couldn't kill him last time, how did he expect to do it this tim. There was always the possibility of Murtagh ordering Eragon to not kill Murtagh.
For the first time, he felt truly hopeless. He decided to fall asleep. Maybe his head would be clearer in the morning. He woke up. He had dreamt only of nightmares, Galbatorix, and Murtagh.
Eragon tried to think of loopholes, but only had the same recurring nightmare from yesterday. He got up, got dressed, and was thinking when a maid came in with food on a tray and told him that a servant would be coming later to take him to the throne rooom to meet Galbatorix and Murtagh. After he finished eating, later arrived. The servant was male body guard. Eragon had no hope to overpower the bodyguard. That took his hope away of being able to escape from Galbatorix's palace.
Eragon was escorted to the throne room. Like the day before, Galbatorix was sitting on his throne and Murtagh was standing to his right. Eragon just glared at them hatefully. Galbatorix said, "Today, I am going to get your true name. Then, you will take me to Ellesmera."
Eragon shouted, "No, I won't! You are sick and twisted!" Murtagh calmly replied, "Quiet, Eragon. You will take Galbatorix and I to the Ellesmera. Have you forgotten that you do not have a choice?" Eragon answered, "No, I have not forgotten, but that won't stop me from protesting and fighting against you and Galbatorix." Galbatorix let out a long, evil laugh at this. Galbatorix said, "I will enjoy breaking you even more than Marzan and Murtagh. You have more of Selena's spirit. You will come to serve me as Murtagh does in time. Jalden, you may take Eragon back to his room now."
Eragon exclaimed, "Wait! What happened to Katrian?! What did you do to her?!" Galbatorix replied, "Do not worry about it. No harm will come to her as long as you cooperate with me. Jalden, take him away!"
Eragon allowed Jalden to escort him back to his room. He was escorted back, and Jalden left Eragon in his room. He sunk into a deep depression. After being depressed for a few hours, a lightbulb went off in his head. He came up with a full-proof plan.
Now, all Eragon had to do was to wait till tomorrow to implement it. He fell again into a deep, troubled sleep. When he awoke, a breakfast tray was placed on the room's dresser with a note. The note read: Eragon, Jalden will come to escort you to the throne room at noon. Eragon ate the breakfast.
Eragon showered and dressed in the clothes left for him. He, then, tried to leave his room only to find a Razaac waiting for him. The Razzac refused to let him leave, and he realized that he was confined to his bedroom. He went into his room and noticed everything for the first time. The bed was a four poster bed with a quilt the same color as Saphira decorated with white flowers.
There was a nightstand next to the bed on the right. On the left, there was a bookcase. Eragon went over to the book case to see if there was anything he could read to pass the time. The bookcase though held books that were all casting Empire into a good light. The books were titled Galbatorix: The Empire's Greates Leader, The Varden; A Danger to the Empire's Citizens, and A History of the Empire. Eragon was disgusted at this. He flopped down on the bed. He eventually fell asleep and woke up beacuse Jalden was shaking him. Jalden said gruffly, "Wake up. It's time for you to go meet King Galbatorix and Murtagh in the throne room."
Jalden then went out the bedroom and waited for Eragon. Eragon regained his bearings and went outside. The Razaac was now gone, and Eragon followed Jalden back to the thorone room. Galbatorix dismissed Jalden. Murtagh said, "Come with Galbatorix and I, Eragon. You will follow all of Galbatorix's commands."
