"Clary!" the coach barked. "Get a move on! You'll never make it to UCONN at this rate!"

I grunted, forcing myself to quicken my pace. My breathing was labored and I was sure I was going to pass out any second. All of my teammates had stopped running the pacer test and I was the only one going.

"One hundred and two," the audio called out. I forced myself to keep sprinting. "One hundred and three."

I slowed down to a jog around the gym. The worst thing I could do to my muscles was sit down. If I wanted to walk tomorrow I would need to stretch and take an ice bath.

As I rounded the corner, I slowed into a walk. "Well done Clary," my coach called out.

I nodded slightly trying my best not to pass out.

"Good job ladies. I'll see you all tomorrow bright and early before school. And Clary could you stay a little bit after practice. I need to ask you something."

I watched the rest of my teammates walk out of the gym before turning and meeting with my coach.

"Well done out there kid," he said. "I can't wait to see you out on the court during games."

"Thanks coach," I replied smiling.

"But that's not what I came here to talk about," he said seriously. "I need to ask you to do something for me Clary. I know it'll be a lot of extra work, but I see potential in you kid."

I nodded my head in thanks.

"I want you to practice with the boys team Clary."

My jaw dropped. I couldn't help it. "The boys team," I managed to get out.

"Exactly. Every Monday and Wednesday."

"I-I, you want me, you want me to practice with… the boys team."

The coach sighed. "I know it'll be a lot of work, but I think you need to push yourself to your limits. I see potential in you kid."

"I don't know what to say," I admitted.

"I understand," he acknowledged, "You don't have to if you don't want to."

"No!" I yelled out, "I mean… I want to, don't get me wrong. I'm just surprised that's all."

He chuckled. "I knew this was a good idea. Anyways, coach of the boys varsity team wants to talk to you before you practice with them tomorrow. Don't let me regret making this descision kid."

"You won't. I promise."

"See you Tuesday Clary. Goodluck tomorrow," he said waving me away.

"Thanks coach! I won't let you down," I called back. I walked out of the gym with a huge grin on my face. I couldn't believe that I got to practice with boy's team. I could just imagine their smirks disappearing when they realized that girls could be just as good as them.

"What's got you in such a good mood?" Izzy asked appearing from around the locker room corner.

"Oh nothing," I said waving it off.

"Hmm mmm," she said, "sure… now tell me."

"Oh it's nothing really. It's just that I get to practice with the boy's team every Monday and Wednesday."

She squealed. "That's amazing Clary!"

My smile grew larger.

"You earned it."

"Thanks Iz. I'll see you tomorrow at school," I said.

"We'll miss you tomorrow at practice," she called out.

"Don't worry. I'll be with you guys Tuesday," I called back walking into the locker room.

Changing out of my practice clothes, I tried to wipe the smile off my face. It was useless. I finally had the chance to prove myself to everyone. This is everything I've ever wanted. My dream.

"Anyone in there still?" a voice called out, pulling me out of my mind.

"Yeah," I called out.

"Well could you hurry up in there," the grumpy voice called out, "I got a job to do."

Quickly packing up my stuff, I hurried out of the room. I passed the grumpy, old janitor swiftly ignoring the dirty looks he gave me.

I was walking back towards the hallway that led to the dorms when I saw the boy's team practicing. Through the door window, I glanced at the varsity team. They were running the pacer, just as we had just done.

"One hundred and fifteen," the audio called out. My jaw dropped for the second time that day. There was only one guy left on the court and it was Jace, the prodigy. His breathing seemed pretty steady and he didn't look like he was going to stop anytime soon.

"One hundred and sixteen."

As if sensing being watched by someone other than his teammates his head glanced upwards towards me. Catching me gaping at him he winked and continued the pacer test.

I felt the blush rise on my cheeks. Swiftly, I turned around as the audio called out, "One hundred and seventeen."

I hope you enjoyed it anyways, but please leave in the reviews anything you guys want to see happen or any suggestions. ALSO, let me know if I should switch POVS.
