Kim smiled at the class she was teaching. After she and Jason had married Kim had wanted to open a non-mobel vet clinic. Instead after talking with nick they had sold her vet clinic and she found a job teaching high school students. Admittedly she wasn't sure she would like teaching, but to her no small surprise she had found the last 2 months very exciting.
Pulling her thoughts back to the present, she looks over her current class. It was smaller than most schools for which she was grateful. Out of the 15 students 4 always made her proud. As she scanned the room, her eye fell on a red head in the front row. Her name was Clair, and she was always ready to stick up for her friends. She wore a loose fitting camo shirt over a light tan skirt. She had small green eyes, and shoulder length light brown hair. Kim knew her quite well as Clair was 1 of a few students that trained under Kim in gymnastics. Kim knew she would go even farther then Kim herself had. Even though Clair stood only 5 feet 2 inches tall, her grace and balance were uncanny. Kim had seen her nearly fall off of the balance beam one day, only for Clair to jump off the beam, flip twice, before landing back on the beam. Kim herself had never been able to do that. She knew Clair had a great future in gymnastics, so long as she stayed with it.
Next to Clair sat Alice. Though Alice stood at nearly 6 feet tall, Kim did not know much about her. She did have short blond hair, but Kim had never seen her eyes. This was because Alice always seemed to have her nose buried in a book. At first Kim had compared Alice to her old friend Billy, but one day she saw Alice reading a romance novel. Despite this she was very smart, always willing to help her friends with their homework. This had not protected her from being bullied though. Alice had a timid personality, so she never tried to fight back. Kim had never been able to catch the bullying in the act, but Alice did have a protector.
It came in the form of the brown haired girl that sat on the other side of Alice from Clair. With her bright blue eyes Heather was not someone to under estimate. Not only was she an accomplished Ressler, but she also had taken lessons in boxing. Because of this she didn't anger easily, but if you really pissed her off you were in for a very rough time. The easiest way to do that was to pick on her best friend Alice. More than once she had sent a bully to the nurse s office with a blackened eye. Thankfully Heather had a friend that could calm her down right away.
Her name was Francine. She stood at 5 feet 5 inches tall, had long flowing golden hair, clear gray eyes with flecks of gold in them, and the sweetest smile. Francine was the most popular girl in school. She always had guys hitting on her, but so far she had turned them all down. She sat with 1 arm around the broad shoulder of Heather. Kim suspected there was something going on with these 2, but they never did anything inappropriate during school hours. Wrapping ones arm around another was fine in Kim's book. Kim was looking over some homework assignments when she saw Alice raise her hand. This was a sign a student wanted to talk with her. Smiling Kim nodded and gestured for Alice to approach her desk.
Alice walked toward Kim her eyes showing worry. Seeing this Kim stood and motioned for Alice to follow her out into the hall. Closing the door behind her Kim turned to Alice.
"What seems to be the matter miss White?"
Alice looked down not meeting Kim's eyes. "I can't seem to stay focused misses Scott."
"Why is that sweetie? And you can call me Kim Kim replied. "
Alice seemed to shrink in on herself. "I had a real strange dream. I felt like I was surrounded by flames. I couldn't see anyone or anything. then this real creepy laugh seem to echo from all around me."
Kim hugged the young girl. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Alice broke into sobs. "I've had these dreams before, but it's been 5 years since the last one. When I was 5 or 6 my family's home was burned down by an arsonist. Thankfully none of my family was killed, but I almost died when I tripped and fell on my way down from the second floor. I was rescued by a firefighter, but ever since I've been extremely fearful of fire."
Kim held the sobbing girl thinking to herself, "I think I know why your dreams have started again Alice."
Meanwhile on an island in the Pacific Ocean a castle seems to rise out of the ground. Inside we see a woman dressed all in black. She has coal black eyes, a spider web type dress, and a short iron staff in her left hand. She is looking into a large crystal.
"Great! It s only been a thousand years, and yet I can't even find a single jewel."
A figure dressed in a black cloak enters and bows to the woman. "My queen Scalaxes, I have searched the continent of Europe, and there is no sign of the jewels."
Scalaxes does not look pleased at this news. "That only leaves this newly named North America. Shade, take some shadows, and search for any trace the jewels may have left."
The cloaked figure bows again. "At once my queen."
Shade walks through an open portal as Scalaxes turns back to her crystal. "I know the jewels are still here. I will have their power."
Kim is still talking with Alice when the bell rings. The students file out of the classroom with Clair, Heather, and Francine stopping to see how their friend is doing.
"Misses Scott, is there anything we can do to help?"
Looking up Kim smiles at Clair. "I think so girls, but I need time to think."
The others nod. As Alice turns to her friends, everyone is startled to hear a large explosion from outside. Hurrying to a window Kim sees what look like black creatures firing black beams of light at buildings. "No! Not now."
"Uh Kim?" Clair questioned.
Kim turned to the 4 girls. "It looks like I have less time than I thought. All of you, come with me."
An: And that is that. Now I am curious if anyone can guess witch girl goes with witch ranger color. The only real clues are in the character's names. Take a look at the elements listed at the start of this chapter, and study each name. I would like to know if I was too subtle with these names, or too obvious. If I didn't explain something clearly enough please drop me a review, or send me a pm. I haven't received any reviews on this story yet, but I promise I will finish this even if I don't get any for the whole story. Anyway see you all next chapter.
