Day Two: Lock
Kai huffed in angry as he watched as Zane tried-but failed-to open the door. It started out as an innocence prank against Cole, but it turned into a failed one when the master of Earth decided to lock them into a closet… with a lock on the outside, to which he only had the key. Zane wasn't giving up when he should, and Kai knew they weren't getting out of this.
"Zane," Kai rolled his eyes. "Enough. We can't get it open, Cole has the only key. I'm not going to burn down the door, Sensei Wu will get mad at me for burning down the door."
"You are misunderstood," Zane stated, ignoring Kai's words. "I can open the door with a bit more time."
"Honestly? I don't think so." Kai crossed his arms, leaning against the wall, a bit thankful Zane had cleaned the closet from a little bit ago. "Where did Cole even find the lock in the first place?"
"I believe Jay had made it for him." Zane replied, and Kai blinked in surprise mixed with confusion. "Something about alone time between them."
Kai made a face. "Ew, gross. I thought it was bad when Jay was fussing over Nya, but nope! He's even more weird when it comes to Cole."
"You are the same with Skylar." Zane shot back.
Kai jumped in surprised before growling softly to himself about how he hadn't seen his girlfriend in a while before looking away, and kicking nothing. Zane gave one look before moving back and trying to open the door once more.
Kai had enough after a while.
"Dude! Just kick it down or something." Kai huffed. "Or… maybe do something with your ice? I dunno! I just wanna get out of here."
Zane gave him a look. "I cannot break down the door."
"You are lame."
After a few more moments of pure silence since Zane had nothing else to say to the fire ninja, a knock on the door happened and Kai got up expectantly and breathed in relief when Cole's voice flew through the door.
There was a snickering tone to his voice.
"You guys okay?" Cole asked, probably holding a hand to his mouth. "Did you have a nice time out like good ninjas?"
"We don't need time out, Cole!" Kai said back. "It was a prank, and you go off and get us locked in here for what feels like hours."
"It was twenty minutes, Kai." Cole sighed. "I thought Zane would be able to cool you down."
"Open the door, man."
The sound of a lock being opened echoed before the door opened up, showing Cole in nothing but a black rob with a few silver linings on it. The rob was opened enough to see the top of his chest, and Cole wore a smirk, while Kai made a face.
Zane simply shrugged before moving to make dinner, as it was his turn in the kitchen today. Just like every day was now his turn after Cole's attempt at making dinner but failing all together, to which the black ninja had always insisted on it being Jay's fault.
Kai just stared. "What did you do? Do it with Jay before deciding to let us out?" he asked, a bit annoyed. "If you did, you don't last long, do you?"
"Hey!" Cole growled. "I took a shower, Jay comes later."
"I don't need to know that." Kai hissed. "I'm going to take a shower. Being in there with Zane really made me sweaty."
Cole snickered. "I think that's your fault. You're way too, I dunno, flammable to be left alone with someone who could cool you down. You must be really annoyed with a better ninja than you."
Kai stopped before shaking his head. "Just… just go see Jay. I'm not in the mood."
"Admit I won with a lock." Cole stated.
"What?"
"Admit it."
Kai sighed heavily before taking a few moments, growling to himself as he admitted he had lost, to which, he never wanted to admit. He was supposed to be the best and Cole had beaten him.
With a lock no less!
"Fine," Kai sighed. "You won. You beat me with a lock on a closet… with Zane trapped inside with me."
"That's what I wanted to hear!"
Oh, he would get him back for this.
