Paige got in the truck with her dad. For a long time she just stared at him in awe. She had known that she had a real family for a long time, but meeting them had always seemed like a far-off dream. She`d left in such a hurry that she really hadn`t processed the fact that she would finally be meeting the father who she`d always dreamed about. As a child, after the demon would rape her, beat her, or verbally abuse her, she would lock herself in the closet until he went out. She would sit in that closet and imagine John charging in, killing the demon, then scooping her up and taking her home. Sometimes she had nightmares though. She would dream that John would come and get her, and then turn out to be even more cruel than the demon. But as she got older she realized that that probably wasn`t even possible.

"Paige?" John said. Paige jumped and realized that she`d zoned out while staring at him. He`d said her name several times before she finally snapped out of it. John smiled a little, "Are you hungry?"

Paige shook her head because she only had two cents to her name, but as she did her stomach growled, and John laughed.

"Do you have a phone?"

"No."

"Here," John handed her his cell, "Tell Sam and Dean to meet us in the next town. I think we all need some sleep anyway."

Paige dialed and was caught off-guard when she heard one of her brother`s voice answer. She felt like she was in a dream. She not only had a real father but she also had two big brothers; a real family at last.

"Umm... hi," she suddenly felt nervous a self-concious. Who was she kidding? Why would these people love her? It was only a matter of time before they saw all of her faults and left her. She should never have left the demon. Before she knew it there were rivers of tears running down her cheeks. The demon was right, she was worthless and weak. Not even worth paying to keep her fed, as he`d told her so many times. Her depression and anxiety made her unable to speak.

"Paige?" Sam questioned, followed by a very stressed-sounding Dean demanding to know if she was alright.

After a few more seconds of silence, John glanced over and started to ask if they`d answered the phone. When he saw her in tears and beginning to have a panic attack it quickly pulled to the side of the road. He took the phone out of her hand and just told Sam where they were before hanging up. He started trying to soothe her, but it seemed like she couldn`t even hear him. She was breathing rapidly and heavily, but she wasn`t responding. John wasn`t sure what to do, but he pulled her into his lap and rocked with her, singing "Hey Jude" like Mary used to sing to the boys. At first he thought what he was doing was silly, but soon she snapped out of it enough to grip his shirt and bury her face in his chest while she sobbed uncontrollably. He wasn`t sure if this meant he was helping her or making it worse, but by the time the boys pulled up in the Impala, she was hugging him around the neck and sleeping. John figured she`d worn herself out.

Sam and Dean rushed over to the truck and opened the door.

"What-"

"Shhh," John said softly, still rocking her.

"Is she ok?" Dean whispered.

John nodded, "I think she had a panic attack or something. Let her sit with one of you in the Impala." John wanted someone still holding her when she woke up. He was heartbroken and knew that he never wanted to see his daughter that scared and upset ever again.

Dean took her from John without a problem. "She must not even weigh 100 pounds," Dean whispered.

"I know," John said, but he sounded distant. Both of his sons could tell that he was worried about this newest family member, and that made them worry too.

Sam wasn`t at all surprised when Dean handed him the keys and told him to drive. Dean had always been over-protective of his entire family. Bobby had joked before that it was lucky that he didn`t have a sister because then he`d be even worse. Sam knew that Dean was going to be reluctant to let this girl out of his sight, especially when the yellow-eyed demon could be looking for her.

Dean got into the backseat and moved Paige so that she was laying down and using him for a pillow. He didn`t remember falling asleep, but when he opened his eyes it was daylight and Paige wasn`t there. He immediately felt panicked, but soon he realized that the car was parked right next to their dad`s truck. When he got out he saw that they were at a diner. He recognized it as a diner that was about an hour and a half away from Bobby`s house. He walked inside and spotted Paige coming out of the bathroom.

"Hey," he said as he walked over to her.

Paige smiled broadly, "Hey, thanks for letting me use you as my pillow last night."

Dean returned her smile. "Anytime. That`s what big brothers are for."

He saw relief on her face.

"Can I talk to you outside for a minute?" Dean asked.

"Sure."

They walked outside and sat on the hood of the Impala. Dean talked so softly he was nearly whispering.

"You know that you`re safe with us, right? We`re family."

She didn`t look sure. Finally she said, "I`ve just never been safe before. I think its going to take a while to sink in."

Dean didn`t think she was being totally open with him, but he nodded. "Just let us know if there`s anything that you need."
