From the mind palace of Sherlock
It was strange. She was strange. From the moment she stepped out of the car, I could tell she would not be boring to work with. As we walked into the building we spotted Donovan speaking to Amy. As we drew closer I head what they were saying.
"I'm sorry Miss Stoker, but you don't have the clearance to be let in here." Donovan smirked as she blocked Amy from getting through.
"Hun. You don't even know who I am. But if you did, you would be scrambling to get out of my way as soon as you saw me. Now let me through or I'm afraid I will have to show you my badge."
Amy replied stonily.
"Well I think it would be best you show me your badge 'coz then I can show you the door." Donovan replied sassily, an angry look on her face.
"Do you think we should interrupt?" john asked quietly.
"No." Mycroft and I replied.
While we had whispered, Amy had pulled her badge from her bag and shoved it in Donovan's face. As we watched Sally's expression went from a one of anger to a one of fear and surprise and then to one of acute embarrassment. Amy took back her badge. Donovan let her past.
"I still don't think you should have the authority." Donovan muttered.
"Hun. I AM the authority." Amy replied as she walked past. "Nice necklace by the way. I hope he spends as much on his wife as he does you." She smirked as Sally recoiled as if slapped. "Ta, ta." Amy gave a little wave as she walked off. John, Mycroft and I sauntered past without any bother from Donovan. We all traipsed back to where the body was and as I spotted it again a little thrill went through my body, excitement that it was something that completely baffled the police. Kneeling by the body was Amy, her face inches away from the man's neck. She fussed around the body as I had done and eventually turned to us.
"It was a vampire." She stated. "You can tell be how small the marks are and the anaesthetic saliva that's gathered there. Also by how the body is completely drained of blood but the only wounds are the bite marks. I will need to turn the body over to look at its' chest as well."
"Of course, I will have it moved to St Barts and you can finish looking over it there." Lestrade answered. Amy nodded as Lestrade motioned for his team to pick up the body and transport it. She stood and dusted her hands off. John and I waited for her to come towards us.
"Very good you may be better than Sherlock." John joked.
"I very much doubt it." Amy and I both stated at the same time. John just laughed and asked Amy if would like to get a taxi with us to St Barts. She agreed and we walked outside to the street. I quickly hailed an empty taxi and told him to take us where we needed to be.
In a few minutes we were there. We walked down to the mortuary to wait for the body to be delivered. Molly jumped up as we came in and bustled around moving different things. I realised that she was trying to make the place presentable. I cleared my throat and she turned smiling at us.
"Sherlock! Are you here for the body they are bringing in?" Molly stuttered.
"Yes Molly, this is Amy Stoker, she's working with us on this case. Amy this is Molly, she is my pathologist." I replied motioning to Amy. Amy smiled and held out her hand which Molly shook.
"Hello, it's nice to meet you. I've read a lot about how much you helped Sherlock." Amy said kindly with a smile on her face.
"Thank you." Molly stuttered again. "It's nice to meet you too." Amy grinned and then asked Molly how her cat was doing.
"M…Ah…What?...my cat?" Molly fumbled over her words.
"Yes. It is ill, is it not?" Amy replied smiling kindly.
"Ah yes, he's doing great, much better now. Thank you. But how did you know?" asked Molly, confused.
"Your cats hair is on your jumper meaning you've been cuddling him a lot and there is some animal antibiotics on the table and as you don't work with animals, I simply made the connection that they belonged to your cat and that it was ill." Amy laughed, gently at Molly's stunned face. The doors banged open as two men entered, pushing the body bag through on a gurney. Molly motioned for them to move the body onto the examination table and they did as directed. They left without a word as Molly thanked them and unzipped the bag to remove it. The body soon lay on the table with a cloth covering the bottom half. Amy went towards the body, gloves on her hands. I stood beside her as she examined the chest of the body. There was a marking on the chest, looking like it had been carved into the chest with a knife. Amy's expression became worried as she traced the marking. She was afraid, i deduced. Afraid of what though was a mystery. She straightened and turned to me, flinching as she realised how close to her i was. Now that was weird but i chose to just leave it for now. I raised my eyebrows in question.
Amy cleared her throat. "This mark is the mark of a very powerful vampire, the most powerful in fact." she sighed. "This is the mark of the vampire, Dracula. The leader and first vampire. Not a person anyone would like to meet."
I narrowed my eyes. "You have met him then?"
She nodded. "Yes, and i am lucky to have survived." i waited for her to elaborate but she refused to say any more.
"Wait. Dracula? Vampires? What's going on?" Molly exclaimed.
"A vampire, Dracula killed this man, drank him dry. Try to keep up Molly." i sighed, annoyed.
"You expect us to believe that a fictional character from a book has killed this man?" John piped up.
"I believe her." i stated. "After all it was her great, great, great grandfather who wrote it."
John frowned. "Great, great, great grandfather?" he looked confused. Oh come on John its staring you right in the face. "Wait, Stoker, Amy Stoker! Your related to Bram Stoker!" i could practically see John mentally slap himself. Amy nodded. "Yeah he was actually there with Van Helsing. And he tried to tell the world about vampires but no one believed him and called him crazy so he put it into a book and people thought it was just made up but it was actually the truth."
"Okay so say he does exist, what does it mean that Dracula is here then?" John asked.
"It means that something is about to happen, don't ask me what though, i don't know. But i can probably soon find out." Amy spun around and took off the gloves. "Excuse me, i have to do something. Can i meet you at your apartment later?"
I nodded and also gave her my number. She nodded and left. The room was silent. I turned and took a closer look at the mark on the body, storing the pattern for later. Once done i turned and motioned for John to follow. "Come on John, lets go back to the apartment." i said, while heading towards the door.
"Actually Sherlock, i have date with Mary. I will pop by later though to give Mrs Hudson her bread and to see what Amy tells you." John answered as he left, saying goodbye to Molly and me. I sighed and bid Molly also goodbye. I headed towards the street hailing a cab to take me home.
