Fate

Clash of the Slashers

The Invisible Man placed the finishing touches on the chemical bomb he had been working on throughout the day. There had been a lot of whispers and watchful eyes on them in the castle today, not unusual given his appearance and behavior but his reasoning did little to stem the tide of his growing paranoia and anger. Soon he would arrive in Trifas and show this pretender who the top dog was. He turned to the boy who was staring off into space. "Pay attention boy, we will be leaving soon and will be engaging the enemy in a day or two."

The boy jumped at being addressed suddenly and deafly nodded as he bustled around, grabbing things he deemed important. The sound of the door atop the stairs slamming open made him jump a second time as three homunculi walked down the steps, each holding a weapon in there hands as they kept there focus on the two of them.

"Lord Vlad requests both of your presences immediately, come with us."

The Invisible Man stayed calm as he turned on his tool to address the newcomers. "Why? Is there something wrong?" He knew perfectly well that their esteemed leader probably disagrees with his plan to see assassin dead and wants to either end him and the boy or worse. With that knowledge, his paranoia skill kicked into effect as he now viewed everyone in this castle as an enemy. We remained neutral but grinned evilly as the two homunculi behind the lead one started to look around and become more and more on edge. A bead of sweat ran down the lead homunculus's head as he stood up from his stool and towered above him. He extended his hand out in greeting and the homunculus looked at it and seemed to consider it, never noticing his other hand catching the knife that fell out of his sleeve which he planted into the side of the leaders head.

He moved quickly after that, kicking the corpse away from him and into one of the other homunculi as he ducked under the frantic swing of the others ax and stabbed him in the gut with his knife and with his newfound servant strength ripped it upwards and cut the homunculus in two. He turned to the terrified third homunculus and reached a hand out towards his neck as the homunculus squirmed under his dead leader. The look of pure terror on his face as he held him by the throat and lifted from the floor to the air was a sight that he longed to see again. This is how you spread fear, this is why he is the best, this is why he will kill Jack the Ripper for thinking himself above him. He squeezed his victims neck, enjoying the feeling of his neck breaking under his gloved hands, these toy soldiers aren't enough to make him bend to another's will. He squeezed more and watched as his struggling stopped and his hands went limp to his side, his life leaving his body. He moved his other hand up and clasped both over his neck and pulled in opposite directions, ripping the head and a bit of spine away from his body and threw them behind him.

He turned to the boy who was watching with a neutral face on his expression, one of the reasons he enjoyed him as a master. He understood that they had to die and didn't weep or care for the now dead toy soldiers that there used to be allies employed. He turned to his workbench and picked up the bomb with one hand and made his way to the stairs. "We are leaving boy, come along."

They had made their way through the castle with no problem, his paranoia skill making the guards easy to slip by when they went to investigate things they thought they heard or seen. They arrived in the garage of the castle, horse's, tools, carriages, chariots, and a modern truck for deliveries to and from the town of Trifas. He opened the drivers' door and placed the bomb in the middle of the seat as the boy climbed inside the cab on the other side and closed his door the same time he did.

As he was fumbling with the wires to hotwire the truck, the alarms in the castle started to blare over the comms that were set up all over the inner and outer parts of the castle. They must have found their three friends in his workshop. He finally got the wires to cooperate and the truck roared to life as he placed it in gear and placed his arm on the back of the seat as he looked behind him and floored it, maneuvering the truck up the winding path in reverse. He came upon a large group of homunculus charging them, he shifted gears and braked hard while turning the wheel causing the truck to come one hundred and eighty degrees, slamming most of there opposition away and leaving them in mangled heeps as he floored it.

Chiron ran to the balcony and nocked an arrow as he aimed for the truck. "Leave them be." He turned to see Vlad looking past him at the speeding truck. We still don't know enough about that servant or what he is capable of, it's a waiting game now and one we will have to answer for as Servants." Chiron nodded and dismissed his bow as he headed back inside accompanied by Vlad.

Night once again falls upon the city and few people dare remain on the streets except the few brave and stupid ones that don't know what lurks in the night. It was a cold night as the breezes that ran through the streets blew papers and shutters of windows open slightly making the atmosphere feel eerie and just off altogether. The street lamps that stood tall on the roads of the city cast safe light on the road as people traversed them quickly to get home, however the alleys... A body of the butcher laid beside the dumpster, his chest cut open and his heart missing. The look of shock still clear on his face as Jack placed it into a container and jumped from wall to wall until she was on top of the buildings.

She watched as some people passed the alley, totally unaware of the victim that laid within the dark depths of it. There was however one particular woman who did just notice the leg of the butcher in the darkness and advanced on him cautiously, a hand outstretched as she calls out to get his attention. Jack smiles darkly as her favorite prey had entered her hunting ground and waited for her to take a few more steps in before she made her way down the wall.

Like a fly to the spiders' web the woman was caught but didn't know of her imminent demise until it was far too late. She approached the corner of the dumpster and stepped in a puddle of something which caused her to glance down, she couldn't make out what it was because of the darkness of the alley and instead trudged on. She rounded the corner and the butcher of the store laid there lifeless in front of her, her eyes widened in shock as she put a hand to her mouth to contain the vomit that threatened to come up. She moved backward, slipping on a bottle on the ground and crashing to the ground and into the puddle of liquid. She pushed herself up with her hands and got to her knees as she looked at her hands, she now knew the puddle was blood and most of clothes and arms were soaked in it. Her gaze rose to a small child who was standing feet before her. Something wasn't right about this child, how her yellow eyes glowed in the dark of the alley like a predator staring down prey, this child scared her more than the corpse behind her. " Little girl we need to..." Was all she got out as the small child moved with amazing speed and her life left her as two knives were stuck in the sides of her head.

Jack silenced the woman before she uttered another word about what they should do. Jack knows what they should do. Jack lowered the woman slightly and placed a foot on her stomach as she started to turn the knives akin a wheel. She loved how the neck began to rip and tear as her head was spun around and around until her bones started to give way. To Jack it sounded like popcorn kernels being popped as the noise happened a few more times until she yanked the head off and held it above her, enjoying the blood that seeped from her severed head. She got her fill and pulled both her knives out, causing the head to fall and prompting Jack to kick it like a football across the remainder of the alley. She got to work on the next heart. She really enjoyed the chance to relive the glory days of her past again, the difference now is she now had someone that loved her like a daughter and could still kill people so things were really looking up for her as she ripped various organs that weren't the one she was after out and threw them around the alley. She was so happy to have Reika as a Master, she was a predator like she was, she understands us, she makes us happy. She lifted the heart and placed it into the container. That makes ten and a successful night of hunting, she better get back before her mother gets worried.

She jumped from rooftop to rooftop, a shadow in the dark going unnoticed by the prey below until she was at the apartment they were staying in. She opened the window and jumped in, closing the window as she landed.

" Ah Jack, I was so worried about you. I just finished your dinner, go change and wash up and I'll set the table." She smiled as she nodded and went about putting on the stolen nightgown, she was happy to have Jack as a servant and even more as a daughter as she put it, they were so similar it was easy for her to view her in such a way. She hefted the bag and was surprised by the weight, peeking inside revealed why. She didn't know what Jack sensed when that storm came through yesterday but whatever it was it must be powerful if she needs this much mana to draw on. She smiled, and what kind of mother would she be if she didn't feed her, she placed the containers in the fridge and went about setting the table.

A truck pulls up next to a barn and a boy is at the wheel. The farmer exits the barn, hearing the truck pull up and is surprised to see a boy driving it. He approaches the truck and the boy smiles at him in greeting, disarming the farmer slightly. "Something I can help you with?"

"Oh we have business in town sir, but given the late hour we decided to stop here."

The farmer looked around the truck."We?"

"Yes me and him." The boy watched as the farmer spun around and business end of the pitchfork rammed through the skull of the farmer, spraying blood over his now neutral face since his mask of polite nice guy was no longer needed. He watched as the farmer was lifted off the ground and thrown in the back along with the pitchfork.

"Good job distracting him boy, hide the truck in the barn." He spun a shovel on his finger as he made his way to the house. They were new to the area, it would be impolite to not introduce themselves to everyone here.

Jeanne looked around at the gathered servants, they were missing two but they could make do without them. She was just glad that they all agreed to come and that this spree of murders has gone too far. "Thank you all for coming, I'm invoking my right as Ruler and mediator of this war to bring this war to a pause as we can no longer allow Assassin to run free and murder innocent people."

"Actually." Vlad stepped forward to address Ruler. He heaved a heavy sigh as he continued. "We have another problem."

Authors Note: The two combatants are getting closer and closer, soon the town of Trifas will be a ghost town and the battlefield for these two titans. I really enjoy writing this because it's oddly hard to write dark stuff like this. I'm trying my hand at it and I hope you guys are enjoying it so far.

ZenoZen: Yeah I figured there both from Britain and I think the matchup will be really cool. I've read the book The Invisible Man many times and model my play style when it comes to online games after him so you could say I'm a slight fan.

As always I'd like to thank you all for reading and reviewing, I really appreciate it. I don't know how long this fic is going to be but it definitely won't be super long.

Want to know what's on the menu for the next chapter? Bloody Croissants that's what.
