Why does Orochimaru never really consider Naruto a threat? He helped to screw up three major plots of Orochimaru, I would have tried to kill or get the kid out of the equation if I could.

I was going to write a story where Naruto is hit with the Curse Seal, and Orochimaru messes with his head via hallucination like he did with Sasuke to make Naruto dark and twisted or at least different. It is defintiely a fun idea, even if he loses the actual curse mark. Still, this idea is one that I thought would work better for the context of a soft reboot.

If I could call this story anything else, it might be Six inches to the left... this was another idea where Kakashi found Naruto dead in the Valley of the End, basically Naruto's mouth was slightly open and he drowned on the heavy rainfall... that could have been a lot of fun.

Then this idea happened and blew that out of the water because it isn't contrived,or cliche or made up. It is based on actual fact, what happened in the series.

Naruto was bored, utterly bored and he wasn't handling it well. He glared at the ceiling, mad at the world and eager to leave to start his training. 'I could be doing anything, like training and keeping my promise to Sakura! Stead, I'm stuck here waiting for Granny to let me go. I'm going to go crazy, I have nothing to do!'He huffed, and sat up. Quickly putting on his shoes, he tipped toed towards the door. 'She didn't say I had to stay in the room, just the Hospital.'

The familiar lure of mischief, which he hadn't felt since he painted the Hokage Mountain overtook him.

And then he hissed, a sharp pain in his hip stopped his thought even as a sharp sound that clicked against the ground. Whipping his head towards the source of the pain, he saw it. A stupid clipboard that he had clearly knocked off of one of the side tables. His annoyance subsided and he picked it up, only to freeze as he saw his name. Curious, he flicked through the pages and felt his chest fill up the more he looked at the pages.

"Signs of Vertebral fractures, Lung puncture and cellular damage due to an overexposure to the corrosive power of the Nine tailed Fox." He almost collapsed right there. He continued to flip through and saw a diagram, pictures of a person with a little lines that only made his horror more real. One stood out beyond all of the others. Right by the neck, was a single line. "Cervical fractures ( of first three vertebrae), Vertebral scars ( On nearly ever vertebrae), signs of spinal compression, signs of concussion and trauma to his brain and refer to page eight for full details. Bilateral scar tissue found on both lungs."

He ripped the other pages out until he got to the page.

"Despite his outward appearance, Naruto Uzumaki's bones shows signs of clear scar tissue. His neck was, without doubt, broken by a sharp downward trauma that not only crushed his neck, compressed his spinal column and caused massive hemorrhage of the brain. Though the chakra of the Kyuubi healed him, signs of the damage remain in bands of scar tissue brought on by blunt force trauma. His lungs, as well as the nerves and skin and muscle around the area, show signs of electrical burns and a harsh puncture wound. The Healing of the Kyuubi may have prevented current dysfunction, however the forced mass cell division has shortened Naruto Uzumaki's lifeforce drastically and ensured that future issues may occur as he ages. He is at high risk for mental dysfunction as he ages.

For the Sake of his health, Naruto Uzumaki should not rely on the power of the Kyuubi for greater risk of cellular degradation."

Naruto dropped the clipboard, shuddering as he slowly waltzed back into his bed.

"I, I, I... I didn't, Sasuke didn't..."His hand went to his chest. " Electrical burns, the chidori through my chest." He could feel his lung filling up with heat, each breathe burning despite his determination." My brain, my spine, when Sasuke slammed me head first into the ground. Lee hurt his spine, that's why Granny needed to heal him. I almost died, Sasuke was actually trying to kill me."

The breathe left his lungs, black spot blurred across his vision.

" Sasuke was actually trying to kill me. And Kyuubi healing me is making me die quicker." He barely managed to stop from passing out. The memories of his fight overtook him, and he remembered the last words the Doctor had written down. " Naruto Uzumaki shouldn't rely on the power of the Kyuubi… I did didn't I? I do, don't I?"

Fighting Haku, getting his butt handed to him and only winning because he had the Kyuubi to overpower Haku. Beating Kiba by farting at him, and losing when he didn't have Kyuubi to help him thanks to Orochimaru's seal. Neji just crushing him until he could use Kyuubi to open his gates and win in one hit. Winning against Gaara, barely, because he took the Fox's power.

"I need to fix it... but how? Pervy sage can... no he can't. No he won't, he flicked me down a cliff so I'd use the Fox's power. Maybe Kakashi might... no, no..." He rubbed his chest, where Sasuke's fist had been. "He only taught me tree walking... Sasuke learned the Chi... the Chidori." He choked on the word Chidori, hating the tremble in his body at the word. Absently, he got up and started to put the papers back onto the clipboard.

And then, without reason, he drifted away from his hospital room, his mind in agony at his inability to deny that Sasuke was genuinely trying to kill him... that the person he respected most in the world was willing to kill him...

He wasn't sure how to deal that... he wasn't sure if he could.

Chapter End Tell me what you think in the Reviews.

Yes, It wasn't very long but it is very important that I set this up. I got the idea from my job as a CNA. Reading patient care plans is so educational and makes you realize how much damage can be on the inside. I also got the idea from Wolverine who literally lost memories from the damage to his brain. Consequences from Naruto's brutal battle...

I think the reality of his situation might make him realize that the man he was obsessed up with actually tried to kill him. I didn't change the actions of the series, but I did force Naruto to actually understand and confront the reality of situation that no one seemed to address... he isn't all the way there yet, obviously, but he is definitely closer and I can see this breaking down barriers that prevented PTSD and personal growth in the series or at least get him started.

Love, your Ninja Overlord,

Mika.
