Chapter 2 Familiar Feelings
Buffy was almost at the nest location when she heard the almost imperceptible sound of movement in the woods. Buffy stopped and slowly put her back up against the massive trunk of a tree. She slowly unsheathed her sword from scabbard she had on her back. Something was moving in closer toward her. There was a crunch of leaves and twigs. Then it seemed the person , vampire or demon who was coming her way stopped. Buffy closed her eyes and breathed in deeply. She focused on the energy around her the way Willow had taught her and honed in on the direction of the unknown being. It was about twenty feet in front of her and she wasn't getting a vamp or demon vibe from it. However, it was not the familiar energy she got from her friends or fellow slayers. It was familiar but yet not…Buffy shook her head. "Fine. I guess I am going to have to find out the hard way." She muttered to herself.
She quietly came out from behind the tree. With sword in hand, she quickly surveyed the area and saw nothing. But there was definitely something or someone there. "Alright, I am not in the mood to play games. I know you are there…come out to where I can see you" said Buffy tapping her foot on the moss covered ground. "I'm waiting, and I hate waiting." She continued talking out into the woods.
There was a rustle in the underbrush and then he walked out. "No you really never were." He said looking at her from across the clearing. Buffy's mouth opened in surprise. He couldn't be here? Could he? Her mind raced with questions as she stood looking at him in the woods. Could her life get any more complicated right now? She thought wildly.
