I Want You To Know
I want you to know that you're a good man.
I try and emulate you as much as I can.
You're my source of strength when I have none,
I learn from you and all you've done.
I want you to know that I believe in you
And although you may not think it's true,
You're an honest man who is pure at heart,
Something I've known from the very start.
I want you to know that you don't need to be strong.
I know there are times when you remember all the wrong
That you've done and you've seen in your soldier's life
And your sanity balances on the edge of a knife.
I want you to know that in those times,
I'm here to help you shoulder your crimes.
You don't need to suffer through this alone,
The least I can do is help you to atone.
I want you to know that you've comforted me
When a father's love is all I need.
I will be by your side until the very end
Because you're my strength, my father, my lifelong friend.
