Author's Notes
Amu is really OOC here
Yes, indeed. I agree with the fact that Amu is really OOC here. If the readers had watched or read the anime or mange, you most likely have noticed that Amu was acting very fragile, melancholy, and depressed (opposed to when she's to be acting brave and "cool and spicy"). I honestly didn't notice or mind it at first when reading this. But a reader pointed out about it and I read the story over, coming to the conclusion that she was correct.
I was actually thinking to put Rima in replacement of Amu. Unfortunately, as a supporter of Rimahiko (RimaxNagihiko), I would have paired her with Nagihiko. Although, Nagihiko did seem slightly perverted (resemblance to Ikuto, he does not sneak into girl's houses without their permission. It would seem very unsettling if Nagihiko "coincidentally" came strolling past and kick open the door to see if she was okay. I decided to keep the characters as they were and found the male's role more important (as they are the comforter).
Thus, if you've noticed, Amu isn't very old in the anime/manga series. She's around the age of 11-13 years old. It isn't (usually) until the stages of a girl's teenage life that she actually feels insecure about herself, so I wanted to portray an image when Amu was around the age of 15. I also did state "Ikuto stared back, back into this little, innocent child, who had lost her courage and her heart to stand up for herself. The girl, who he once knew as cheerful and adorable, had become self-conscience of herself."
How did Ikuto open the door?
I was going to put how he did it by making Amu retort back from Ikuto's comment ("You're wasting water."). I would have made her say "You broke my door." The comment would be running the sad cloud that was hanging over the story, so I decided not to put it there.
And yes. Ikuto basically just kicked open the door.
Viewer who cried
Ironically, I'm pretty happy you did. That was the goal I was hoping for at least one person to do. And I'm glad I (at least slightly) changed the hearts of the discouraged girls. I will also remind you, that this insecurity doesn't just apply to size, weight, brains, or looks. It applies to the girls who have family, money, abusive, or any other issues. Please know that you are not alone. Billions and trillions of girls out there have this type of problem. I have never met one that doesn't have these issues.
I have really hard times too, and that doesn't stop me. Sure, I still cry. I still want to yell and scream. But I know that I'm not alone.
(PS, to the "anon" who first commented on this Fanfiction, I thank you. I personally thank you for taking the time to read this. And even though you didn't show who you truly are, which I am perfectly fine with, I am glad that you had released your stress while reading this.)
