Chapter 1

Bella's POV (Bella is at the hospital after she almost got hit by Tyler)

I layed there staring at the ceiling trying to nail down exactly what had happened before that had left me here in the hospital. But all that came back to me was the blinding white light of the headlights. The rest was a blur. Then I heard it: the angelic mummer of a young man. The curtain flew open and there standing in front of me was the most mesmerizing image of Dr. Cullen. He was a reincarnation of Adonis. My heart sped up with every breath I took. "Good morning Ms. Swan. I'm ." Cullen…Cullen… where had I heard that name before, I thought. "I'm pretty sure you must recognize the name. After all it was my son that insisted that you come here, Edward. Well to be honest he, like the rest of his siblings, was adopted." Edward's adopted, I thought. That must explain why he looks so similar, yet so different from his siblings.

Carlisle's POV

I could smell her from a mile away. It was so captivating that my mouth had begun to water on the spot. But when I threw the curtain open, her scent was trivial compared to that of her beauty. Now I had understood what Edward had been ranting about all these days.

Bella's POV (Bella is back at home)

I sat on my bed with my eyes closed. Over and over again I went over the very moment I laid my eyes on him. Those warm, butterscotch eyes that held love in them, that movie star smile, his beautiful porcelain skin, and his hair that sat on top of his head like sunshine: radiating over me. The very thought of him made my stomach churn. Bella, stop it. He's way too old for me. Anyways, he's Edward's father. I couldn't do that to him, no matter how much his very presence made me want to regurgitate. I dismissed the image before it went any further than I would have liked. I put my head down on my pillow and dreamed; going where no dream of mine had ever gone before.
