Kate Beckett was sick of wearing turtlenecks. But she didn't want anyone to come close to seeing the mark that marred her skin. It was fading, sure, but she felt that it would never truly go away.
"You could switch to wearing scarves," was the unhelpful suggestion that came from her partner sitting in his chair by her desk.
"Sure, because that would make it less noticeable that I'm trying to cover something up? It's 60 degrees out!"
"It's not my fault it's unseasonably warm in January." Castle just gave an impish grin.
"But it is your fault for giving me all of this hickey!" She whisper-yelled pointing to her neck, "It's so dark I'm starting to think that it will never go away!"
Castle just smirked, totally unapologetic.
