A/N: This chapter may be just too cheesy for me, but I love it anyway.

Lorelai knocked three times on Richard's office door.

She knew her dad had received Rory in his house, in the beginning, and that he had given her all the support she needed when she quitted Yale, not having questioned her impulsive decision.

The difference from Emily was, he had soon changed his mind and gone to Lorelai for help. He told her they should both find a way to make Rory return to the university and that his granddaughter could not continue as she was, lost and without perspective.

Father and daughter had had a long conversation two weeks before, and Lorelai had realized that he really wanted the best for his granddaughter. Nevertheless, Lorelai felt very disappointed in Rory, so she had told Richard that she had to make the decision to go back to Yale by herself.

Even though Richard had not been happy with Lorelai's judgment, he had understood her and, eventually, accepted it.

He understood how Rory's failure had hurt Lorelai badly. He knew she had fought all her life to give Rory the best of things. In addition, how much of a struggle Lorelai had felt to get her daughter into a big university; something she had never experienced herself.

Emily, on the other hand, had not been that disappointed with the fact that Rory had abandoned her dreams. She was actually feeling quite satisfied, after all, she had finally found someone to replace Lorelai in a world of insignificant parties, first cups of tea and snakes to befriend. All Emily ever wanted for her daughter and granddaughter was the life she had had. She felt that if they found a good and respectful husband they would live happily ever after.

Lorelai returned her attention to her father when she heard him say, at the other side of the great wooden door, "Come on in."

She carefully turned the door handle and looked directly at him.

Richard, as usual, was talking with some client on the telephone. Surprised with his daughter's unexpected appearance, he hung up with a mere: "I will call you later."

"Lorelai, what are you doing here?" He asked her.

"I would like to talk to you if that is ok, dad." She responded.

Richard felt very intrigued by Lorelai's visit and pointed his finger towards the chair in front of his desk, gesturing for her to seat down.

"Thank you." Lorelai then sat down on the brown leather chair on her father's home office.

Still trying to decide on what she should say first, Lorelai looked around the room as if gaining some time.

Her eyes fell upon a few golf clubs in one side of the room, the many books on his two amazingly big bookshelves and, finally, at a painting, that caught her attention the most - Richard held her while she was still a baby.

At last, she returned her gaze to her father's features. He looked at her as if he understood that she needed some minutes to organize her ideas and thoughts.

"Rory is going back to Yale." She blurted out.

Richard opened his eyes in surprise, astonished by the news. "How? When?" He felt like he was not able to speak coherently.

Lorelai explained, "We talked for a long time yesterday and she realized that being a journalist is still her greatest dream."

Richard gave his daughter a genuine smile. "I'm glad you two are back on speaking terms, Lorelai. And I'm even happier with Rory's return to Yale."

"We all are." Lorelai responded and added, "However, this isn't the only thing I wanted to talk to you about. I have some big news to share."

Richard urged her, "Well, please say it."

She took a big breath and looked directly into her father's eyes.

"Well, Luke has proposed and I said yes. I am getting married, dad. The celebration will happen the end of this month." Lorelai revealed, with her eyes sparkling and then stopped talking for a few minutes to notice her dad's reaction.

"I'm happy to know you finally found a man who truly loves you, Lorelai." He told her sincerely. "I hope all of your dreams come true and that you can build a family together."

Lorelai's eyes were full with tears and she was finally able to tell her father all of the things she had been dying to, for the last twenty years," I'm sorry if someday I've disappointed you dad. I know my life hasn't turned out the way you had imagined it. Now, that I've found the man of my dreams, I'm really glad you are truly happy for me. I would really appreciate if you would walk me down the aisle."

Richard was having difficult speaking and organizing his thoughts, after everything she had confided. Eventually, however he was able to formulate his sentence, "Lorelai, you were never a disappointment to me. I know your life took a different curve from the way I expected it to go, but you have a successful business and you are a great independent woman. Do not think even for a minute that I consider you are a failure. I would be honoured to walk you down the aisle." He took a deep breath. "I'm really proud of you."

The tears were no longer in Lorelai's eyes but down her face.

She had expected this words for so long and had finally heard them.

She stopped crying for a moment and let the last statement slip, "Dad, I'm also pregnant."

She felt afraid of her father's reaction. There were so many painful memories connected to those words.

Tears had fallen of Richard's eyes. Tears, not from sadness or frustration, but from contentment and joy.

Without a warning, Richard stood up and hugged his daughter. Lorelai's clothes were wet with her tears. They stayed like that for some minutes. The hug meant forgiveness and a new beginning. All misunderstandings, fights and arguments were forgotten when he told her, "I love you, Lorelai."
