Chapter 1: Breaking the Fourth Wall
Mila Rose Hawke (xXCelebiXx)
I placed my earphones into my ears, turning up the music on my iPod. I glanced down at the book in front of me, carefully turning the yellowing pages so they wouldn't rip. I smiled softly as I found my favourite part, reading the words over and over again.
"None of us can take back what we've done in the past; the most meaningful apology is how you live the rest of your life."'
The smile faded from my face as light from my lamp became a little too bright for my liking. I turned it off but my eyes and the front of my head still hurt. I shut my eyes, and stood up. Well, tried to stand up. My knees shook with the effort and my head spun. My legs collapsed under me as I passed out and remembered nothing.
Riley Aiden Chase (Defiance of Fate)
I held an ice pack to my leg to try diffusing the throbbing pain. Earlier today I had received a beating by the bullies at school. Now I sat crying, holding some ice to my leg. The reason for why they bullied me wasn't my weight or appearance. I was in the good for the two of those but the reason is because I'm Riley Aiden Chase the 'weird kid' at school. I accepted this fact; I never did talk at school. Maybe I had become one of those creeps that stand to the side. I'm fairly sure that I don't choose it though. I just sat lost in thought for a few minutes and then everything started to slip away and I wasn't sitting on my bed anymore. I was in a black abyss and then I lost consciousness.
Anne Sevell Kitler (coleypepwars3679)
I was bored. There was nothing to do. My parents had said to draw something, and my brother told me to actually do something with my life. Fat chance. Lying on my rather small bed in boredom, I gazed across the depths of my empty room. Suddenly, I saw it. The monitor was literally glowing, attempting to show me that I should engage myself in the vast world of Internet. I plopped myself down on my previously empty chair and stared at the screen, knowing that I would soon be satisfied of my complete boredom. Suddenly, the screen turned completely black. What? I thought, leaning forward and poking the monitor for no apparent reason. Well, that was a mistake on my part, for something unknown reached out from the monitor, took my finger, and pulled me into the darkness.
Oni Nightmare Twilit (Bellykid5)
Silence was all that existed in my house. Nothing made noise. Not the clock, not the street, not even the sound of the usually noisy neighborhood. It was a Wednesday, I never understood why the house was so quiet on a Wednesday. It can be the talk of the town on Sunday, be noisy on Monday, go insane on Tuesday, but oddly enough it was very silent on Wednesday. Then it goes back to being noisy for the rest of the week. It makes no senseI said to myself, the neighbourhood is never this quiet. All of that changed one day when I got back from the grocery store. Another day of being shunned by the people at the "Shop N' Mart." I was the most hated and the most ignored person in the whole town. It never made any sense, except on Wednesday it felt like the whole world had stopped. It felt different than being shunned or just completely ignored, it felt like nothing existed. As if sound didn't exist in this town anymore. This Wednesday was unlike any other because the silence had gone from being "Natural" to "Disturbing" and I was going to find out why. Suddenly I blackout without warning.
Sophia Cleopatra Silverhart (Icetail of WindClan – Meta-If)
Wind blows past my face furiously as I run down my street. I was almost a hundred percent positive that I was being followed by a stalker, but somehow I knew they couldn't catch
I just walked into the door of my small flat in my small town on the east side of Australia. My cat, Flash, instantly came up and rubbed her black fur against my leg. I smile as I pick her up and stroke her. Heather, my flatmate, was watching the movie I had placed into the DVD player last night. It turned out to be Star Wars VI: The Return of The Jedi. I had forgotten to put it back in its case. Heather turned to me as I walked in.
"I never thought that you could be right about this stuff, Soph!" she exclaimed. I smiled and flicked my dark blond hair.
"That is why I leave things in places," I laugh. I walk over to my laptop and turn it on. Flash instantly made me click on World of Warcraft. I laugh again and just agree with my cat. I login and look at my list of characters. I knew that Heather was too because she asked me who I was on. We both decided to go on our levelling raid group, as we liked to call it, which was our mid-level characters, Hollyleaf, a worgen priest and Nashalka, a night elf warrior. We both screamed as we clicked on the play. We felt as if we were being pulled into the game. That was the last thing either of us heard before we blacked out.
Rohca Brimstone Floa (Ecaroh914)
"Come back here with that book, you...!"
But I couldn't come back with this book at all, no, that would be trouble, and trouble is never a good thing. I just kept on running and panting. I could not stop, even if I wanted to.
Allow me to explain why did I even do so much as to even TOUCH this book: not only was it expensive, but it was also an awesome looking tome: it was thicker than a dictionary, sure, but the pages were browning with age. The front and back cover were made of decaying mahogany. But look! On the front was a ruby roughly hacked into the shape of a flame. The back had a chunk of brown, shiny wood in the shape of a broad leaf. For some reason, they both seemed to stare at me with some emotion. And the power I felt coming from this book! No, not money power. I may be a street rat, but I'm no person to even think about money. I'm talking about a faint trace of energy that made me feel warm and light.
"Stupid street rat! Come back here!" Unfortunately, it somehow...was calling to me to take it away from this bad man. So...I stole it, right in front of this guy's face, his ugly face. So now, he's chasing me down 256 alleys in the city...and counting. I really felt tired. Then I remembered my mother's last words:"follow your instincts, my child, If running doesn't work, go with your soul and body." Mom...
Instinctively, I made a sharp turn to the right, then somehow ran up the side of a building, reaching up to the the top. Whew, now I COMPLETELY lost that crazy merchant. I turned around to look in the distance at my mother deathbed: Boom Boom Volcano. "Thanks a lot, Moon." I said, mentioning my mother's name. "Thanks a lot."
That night, I found a palm tree to sleep under. BUT, first the book needs a bit checking out, to see for any fallen pages. As I opened up the musty tome, a chill fell down my spine, telling me NOT to do it. I shrugged it off, only to have the book rise into the air, reminding me to listen to my sixth sense more often. After rising 8 feet into the air, it opened itself up...and spoke: "Ah, young one, although I should be disappointed, I am, indeed, most grateful that you saved me from that greedy merchant," it said in a voice that sounded feminine. "Th-thank you," I said, genuinely shocked from the talking book. "However, I must repay you in some kind of way: I shall send you...to paradise."
"WHAT!? But what about-"
"Shhhh...it's OK, the merchant won't find me, I'll come along with you...in a different form. Now, stand in front of me..."
I did so, and when that happened, the book started to glow! Afraid of a big bang, I tried looking for a place to hide...which was nowhere. I could only cower in fear, as I felt my feet disappear...in bubbles. Then my legs, my waist, my chest and heart, and finally, my neck. That all got sucked into the book, and I knew my head was next. I squinted as the inevitable came around, then I blacked out.
Rachel Faith Smith (CrazyLips)
I closed the garage door, just as my dog ran up to me.
"Anyone home?" I called, putting away my backpack.
"I am!" My older sister, Bri, called back from the office.
"Kay!" I ran into the office to see what she was doing. She was watching a video, something insane.
"I need to check something." I told her.
She glanced at me.
"Something important!"
She slid off the office chair, sighing. She walked out the door, and called, "Ten minutes!"
"Got it!" I called back. I automatically opened up Club Penguin. I just had to. After clicking on the log-in button, the spinning loading button starting to make me dizzy. I slapped myself. Bri, hearing the sound, called from her room, "You ok?"
"Uh...yeah!" I responded. Was I tired? I hadn't stayed up late last night... I selected a random server. More spinning...I exited Club Penguin and went on to FanFiction. It always seemed to relax me. Bri poked her head in. "What're you doing?"
"Writing." I replied passively.
"What's it about?"
I sighed. "Don't know. Just...writing!"
She held up her hands. "Okay, okay!"
She left, thankfully. I didn't want to have to focus on anything but my writing. All this noise was making me get a headache. Only...The room was silent. My head was ringing, so I furiously typed, trying to relax. The screen was getting blurry. I couldn't see what I was typing. A couple seconds later, I began to feel light-headed. What was happening? I had never felt this before. I was typing so fast and hard my hands hurt. Practically spamming my keyboard. I must have been sick or something, because I lost all control and blacked out.
Drake Anderson Dragonborne (The Dark Madness Dragon)
I was just pulling into the driveway, but I couldn't be bothered putting my bike into the shed, I was tired and wanted to relax, but I knew that it was expensive and well, in my small town, a Honda CBR600RR was as rare as digging in your garden and finding hell loads of gold randomly scattered all over the place.
I parked it inside my half of the garage and locked the door, I then walked inside, dodging around my roommates cat Razor, and then side stepping my dog Dark before he could jump on my good clothes and get them dirty.
I walking into my room and got changed into my normal outfit, a white t-shirt, a black leather jacket and black jeans.
I logged onto my project, a Multiplayer Madness game, my room mate was already on, he must be working on his GO3LEM shooting, but when i got in, he was doing round 48, with GO3LEM's only, when i got in, i was nearly crushed by the GO3LEM's sledge hammer's.
"Dude! your meant to be covering my **!, fire your grenade before the GO3LEM pulls out its sledgehammer!" I yelled into the mic at my room mate Drake, who was in his room at the time, he was injured at a paintball championship in our hometown of Opunake (actual name of my home town)
Drake fired the grenade and it somehow killed all the GO3LEM's at once, then the screen changed to a picture of Hank J. Wimbleton.
"When i escaped the Auditor with Sanford, we were chased into the facility you have turned into a game."
I paused and ate a L&P chocolate (Yes, i live in New Zealand) piece out of my pocket, and kept on watching, pulling a 2.5 Litre bottle of Coke out of my other Jacket pocket, but put it back, the size of my pockets were ridiculous, but useful.
"Now you must enter here and help us, for we, unbelievably, can't do this alone, we need your help DJ and Drake."
I was shocked, i though Drake just put it in there to mess with me, but then the screen showed a STYAR AUG rifle, the same one I customised while I was in the army for a brief period of time.
I heard Drake swear really loudly, which was rare, given he only swore if he was EXTREMELY angry, or he lost at something. (He swore really loudly, and alot when he both lost the paintball championship, and he got injured, he always gets angry when injured, i'll leave your imagination to decipher what happened)
Then it was quiet, because he would very rarely shut up.
"Oops, sorry about that DJ, glitch in the system, I'll have you here soon." Hank popped up on the screen again, scaring the hell out of me.
"Wait, hold on, this is a live connection? what the hell?" I started to feel light headed, i assumed it was because of my days events, being shot at, then shooting back, getting promoted, and then being shot at while being promoted. (if you go to a cops promotion celebration, and fire on them, expect to be on the ground in 5 seconds flat)
"Yea, and the light headedness, its common, however you may feel a slight bit of pain, and you will get knocked out, but don't worry, you will be fine..." Hanks voice got fainter, the pain was nothing, but i was knocked out by an invisible force, the world around me slowly blackened, and the last thing a heard was Hank's and Sanford's voices arguing with Deimos.
Alex Finley Greene (emrys02)
I race into the front door of my house with my friend Jared. I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. We were walking home from my segway lesson (which I never wanted to sign up for in the first place, but Jared encouraged me to do it). Since then, after each lesson, I'm always eager to get back to the computer and keep writing.
I LOVE writing. I've been doing it since I was five. My parents said I had a gift. Now, 12 years old (almost 13), I've kept my talent up, and I'm very proud of it. Someday I want to become an author, so this can be my job.
Anyway, I run into the house and make a beeline for the computer. Nobody's using it, which means my parents are out. Dad's almost always using it for work. (Yeah, my dad works at home. Can't really explain what he does on there, since I don't really understand it much.) I turn it on. The computer loads for a little bit, then comes on. It's an old Windows computer. (Amazingly, it still works, compared to my grandma's old – fashioned one. Boy, you should have seen it.) I click on Internet Explorer, then type in "fanfiction" in the search bar. Just then, Jared comes into the room.
"You're almost always on the computer, aren't you?" he says.
"Oh shut up." I answer. "I'm writing!"
Jared doesn't get it. Maybe because he doesn't like to write. He prefers playing boring sports, like soccer, basketball, and baseball. Writing is real fun!
"What are you writing about?" he asks.
"Well, actually, I'm not writing. I'm publishing one of my stories to a site called FanFiction." I say. "You don't just write about anything on there. It's a site about categories, or fandoms. You can write about The Smurfs, Pokemon, stuff like that."
I click on FanFiction and go to the site. "See, Jared, if you click on "Browse" here..." I click on it at the top of the page.
Suddenly, my head starts spinning. My vision is getting blurry. Nothing like this has ever happened to me before – or Jared. I can't see him, but I know this is happening to him too.
I'm doing somersaults in midair and I feel dizzy. My head hurts. My whole body feels like it's getting sucked into something but I don't know what. I cry out in pain, but it isn't heard because of all the noise. "Owww..." is the last word I utter before I black out.
Jade Ivy Cresslia (Yang and Yin-chan)
I was coming from school, after another fight with the popular girls, I walked home, with my favorite blue hoodie, peach shirt, and black stripe white pants. The rain begin to pour, and I started to run home. I was about to check on my phone on my Fanfiction status and Devianart account. But my phone let me down, and it died before I could check. Cursing, the wind begin to blow, and I pulled on my hoodie. The rain begin to rush down, pushing my back. I started to run home, but oh, careless me tripped on a trash bin and fell right on my face. The wet sidewalk made impact, and I groaned in pain, curling up into a ball. I was going to get up until, I saw something in the bin, white, furry... A Chihuahua?! Okay look, I'm a dog fan, and my house has a backyard. Welcome aboard Jacky!
The white Chihuahua was looking at me, in a sleeping position, it must have been tossed away... as I made my hand to its furry head, it growled and snapped at me. Its black eyes show me it didn't want to suffer again, and wanted to be alone. When we made eye contact, it slowly stood up. Then, when I touched its head, it slowly calm down and relaxed. I smiled, as the chihuahua walked toward me, sniffing at my hand and licking it, its rough, soft sandpaper tongue sents me a little giggle, and I scooped it up. Poor Jacky! He must have suffer a lot, because I can barely feel any warmth from it. Hm, by the looks of it, it's a boy. Because... I don't know... Anyway, I place the cold, snow white chihuahua in my hoodie, squirming a bit for comfort, and popping its head out. I stifled a giggle, and continue to walk to my destination.
-Time skip-
As I opened the door, I let the little dog jump out of my hoodie, and run off to the living room to get used the habitat he's in, I smiled and walk into the kitchen, grabbing a blueberry muffin, a caprisun, and I went upstairs.
"HEY SIS! I'M HOME!"
I can hear shuffles of feet in the room next to mine, her door was decorated with drawings, rainbows, and Kirby. "Hiya Jade!" My sweet little sister, Megan greeted me. I embraced her and let her go, her cute little brown eyes shine through the dark, and her black hair was pulled into a ponytail. "Can we play the Wii? Kirby? Pokemon?" Ah yes, I'm am one of those girls who love to play video games, I mean, they're part of my soul, I slowly nodded my head and added. "Yup, just let me finish eating and play the computer and we'll be set to go." Megan left me with a smile, and went back to her room, I went to my room, snacking on my muffin, and begin to drink.
I opened my laptop, greeting me with a chime, and I proceed to click the Internet. The Internet, is where every I love to go, friendly greetings, fun games, arts, you name it all, it's paradise, I clicked on the tab and it instantly takes me to my favorite site, Deviantart. As my mouse room around, chat with my friends, draw, and wrote a few stories, I proceed to go to Fanfiction. Fanfiction was one of my favorite sites, and it still is, I decided to look up some of my favorite fandom, so why not Pokemon? One story caught my eye, and before I could click it, I felt like I should take out my sketchbook, so I took out my pencil and sketch book, and proceed to click on the story. But when I clicked on it, some sort of void of pixels appeared, my vision was swirling and I was getting dizzy, I saw my pencil and journal going into my computer, that was flashing red, blue, and multiple colors, and when I passed out, I felt my body was fading away, images of my OCs were on my head, panicking. Soon, I felt nothingness.
So the name said it all. We have just broken the fouth wall. Next chap will be us awakening I guess. Now forgive me, I must play chess!
