Chapter Two: Albus Dumbledore
"P-Professor Dumbledore!" Ignius stuttered, surprised that the famed wizard was standing in front of him. "Er, please come in!" he said, stepping aside to allow Dumbledore enter, which he did. "What brings you here?" Ignius asked him. Dumbledore studied him from behind his half-moon spectacles. Then he turned his piercing gaze to Ellamae, who was still in a heap on the floor. With the agility of a young man, Dumbledore hurried over to her. "She, er, tripped and hit her head off the ground." Ignius told Dumbledore, who was now kneeling next to her. "I was just tending to her when you arrived..."
"Are you alright?" Dumbledore asked Ellamae. She gave a faint nod, but other than that, she did not move. "Can you stand?" She nodded again and slowly sat up and then got to her feet. Dumbledore stood upright. He turned to face Ignius. "The reason that I have come is that Professor McGonagall recieved a letter from your daughter which said that you would not allow her to attend Hogwarts. Is this true?"
"Well yes, but–"
"And why is that?" Dumbledore enquired.
"I, er, don't have enough money to pay for what she needs."
"Hogwarts has a fund for those who don't have enough money."
"I'll miss her too much..."
"She can visit you, if she so chooses to, during the holidays." Dumbledore told him. Ignius couldn't think of any other reasons not to let her go. Of course he couldn't tell Dumbledore his true reasons, that he enjoyed beating her too much, that he wanted her to remain miserable. He had no other choice but to let her go.
"Oh fine! She can go..." Ignius said with a sigh. Ellamae smiled. She was allowed to go! 10 whole months where she wouldn't have to live in fear of her father, where she wouldn't be beaten, where she wouldn't be starved! It was a dream come true! Then, turning towards Ellamae, Dumbledore said,
"Feel free to write to me if... there's anything troubling you."
"Like hell she will." Ignius muttered.
"And if I don't hear from her," Dumbledore turned back to face Ignius again, "or if I hear you've been mistreating her, I will come back." his voice was very quiet, but it was obvious that this was a threat as well as a promise. He smiled at Ellamae, his eyes twinkling, and then left. Ellamae flinched when she saw the murderous look in Ignius' eyes, but he didn't dare take out his anger on her.
"Just... Just go to your room." he said, clearly furious.
Ellamae hurried from the room to her small bedroom. She lay down on her bed– a bed which was only made up of a few tattered blankets on a hard, wooden floor. She closed her eyes and imagined what Hogwarts would be like.
It was not long before the young girl fell asleep, dreaming of Hogwarts.
A/N Sorry I haven't updated in almost a year. I've been very busy with school and work, et cetera. Hopefully, updates will be much more frequent now.
