I needed to do this Ciel centric chapter in order to show why Lizzy has changed. What her take on him leaving was. It's important to her character development and just needs to be gotten out of the way.
Strike, thrust, advance and slash. This is what Elizabeth lets consume her. Beads of salty perspiration slide and shimmer down pink heated flesh. With a horse grunt she shakes gold colored locks out of her line of sight. This fledgling of a women is on auto pilot. Wandering threw well trained moves, her body bends with the ease of hundreds of practices. She's practically a puppet dancing upon strings.
It's no wonder her mind begins to drift, bits of meaningless musings. The latest gossip, a silly argument with Edward, presumptuous would be suitors…lose thoughts suddenly slam into troublesome dark waters. A place only held for one thing, one person, Ciel Phantomhive. Her former ever adorable and most treasured fiancé.
Elizabeth wonders where the Earl of lies happens to be at, in this particular moment in time. She hopes a dank dark dungeon, but she doubts it. "After all the dark hearted butler would never stand for that. If Ciel was the Earl of lies then Sebastian was certainly the king." Mumbled Elizabeth as her arms ark and stretch accommodating her blades demand.
She begrudgingly recollected upon the dark butlers displays of outrageous servitude. As a child such acts paired with his soothing honeyed tongue had brought her comfort and amusement. Not anymore, Elizabeth thought of what a fool her younger self had been. She believed the butler practically perfect in every way. To be in awe of such a shadow walker as he. "Shadow walker" that's what she thinks him as, that's what she calls him now. The words slip through parted lips soft as a whisper. The horrid man seemed to come from nowhere, yet was everywhere all at once. Just like the shadows.
Elizabeth supposed the butler was absolutely loyal and definitely an invaluable assets to the house of Phantomhive. But she also believed the endless devotion was motivated by much deeper desires then to simply serve. So many sleepless nights had this young lady spent pondering just what kind of angle or deal Michaelis was working? With a clenched jaw Elizabeth dove into even more painful musings.
How stupid her ex-fiancé must have thought her. Why in the world would Ciel think she would believe him dead? Elizabeth remembered all too well the happiest day the two betrothed partook in years. Sadly yet somehow fittingly it also happened to be the day he supposedly died.
She should have known the day was too good to be true. From the very being of her visit Ciel was being extremely odd. He was to open with his caring words and seemingly honest gestures. Elizabeth's ex-fiancé praised her beauty and character. Told her that even though he rarely showed it, she had always brightened up his dreary life. His lips would brush her gloved hand abundantly, followed by him saying that "you must always stay in the light, that's where beautiful things like you belong".
Elizabeth's heart stung with the memories of Ciel telling her how she was the only person he ever really trusted. She was his beloved cousin after all. He told her of how he would forever treasure the sound of her child like giggles. He called her "beloved", she had longed for years to hear those words on his lips. The young Earl had said "I will never forget how you always saw the good in me, even when there wasn't hardly any left".
Elizabeth recalled how peculiar it was when Ciels voice faltered just for a moment, just as he asked "promise me Lizzy you'll always find happiness no matter what pitfalls are thrown at You". Of course she promised for that was easy, she would always find a reason to be happy with her sweet fiancé by her side.
They danced for what seemed like years before it was time for her to leave. Ciel had looked into her jade eyes with an intensity that had her to unnerved to even blush. With a touch of his cold hand upon her cheek, a tingling began to radiate in her spine. The caress was so soft and tender it almost seemed wrong coming from Ciel. His hand moved from her cheek to twain within her Hair. Elizabeth was most shocked to see him bring a lock against his lips. Letting the silky gilded strands linger beneath his nose. She trembled with embarrassment at his obvious greedy inhalation of the sent.
Elizabeth felt the slightest hint of moisture forming in her eyes, which she quickly reined in. she wouldn't cry over him ever again. "Concentrate on your form blast it" she spat with a lunge of her rapier. She may have reined her body in but she couldn't control her mind. It slipped back to thoughts of Ceil cupping both her cheeks and resting his forehead against hers. How gently he spoke"thank you for everything for all the years you were my truest friend." "For all the smiles we shared as children, I will hold those memories for all eternity."
Then suddenly Ciel pulled away bestowing her with a truly precious sight, a sincere smile. Followed by a kiss so deliciously affectionate. Elizabeth didn't care about the lingering improperness. As her knees began to weaken Ciel deepened the kiss for just a moment and then pulled away. Elizabeth was dumb struck she had felt the first pull of passions in an utterly foreign way.
They walked hand in hand to the carriage, Elizabeth couldn't help but notice how Ciel gazed upon their joining fingers. Ciel embraced her ferociously Elizabeth laughed at the fact that she was the one for a change who couldn't breathe. She was more than happy to return the hug with just as much enthusiasm. Ciel kissed the rim of her ear and whispered "I really have always loved you Lizzy." With a completely childish grin Elizabeth told Ciel she loved him, had always loved him, and would always love him. With a kiss to Elizabeth's temple and a stroke of her cheek Ciel murmured "I wish you well Lizzy, good bye my dear adorable little fiancé."
That was it he turned back towards the manor, the carriage took off and she never saw him again. When she got home there was an envelope on her pillow. Recognizing the Phantomhive crest she eagerly tore it open. A ring slipped out, Ciels ring to be exact. Elizabeth was baffled turning to the card that accompanied the ring. Her very soul felt as if it had been frozen and then set afire as she read the words. It was a death notice, belonging to none other than her now ex-fiancé.
Ok readers thanks for coming this far! I want to just clarify that although Ciel finds Lizzy beautiful and certainly loves her. I'm going to leave it up to you to decided if that loves is romantic based or family/friend. Now yes he kissed her but of course he would. Ciel knows Lizzy loves him and has been waiting years to get a kiss from him. Even if he wasn't IN LOVE with her. He would want to leave her with a sweet memory. feel free to let me know if you want the story to commit to one type of love or another. Or feel free to just read it comment and let it be as is. THANKS SO MUCH TO MY SUPPORTERS!
