Chapter 2 My Creepy Neighbor
The house was silent at the Izuku residence except for the television that was playing loudly in the living room. Midoriya in only in his grey sweatpants and white tank top heads downstairs while rubbing his bruised eye.
"Oh, you're finally up." His mother said, cleaning off the coffee table. Midoriya goes into the kitchen and opens the fridge to grab a water bottle. As he opens the bottle and drinks it he hears the television.
"Last night a seven year old girl was found by a riverbank. At the moment there are no witnesses nor any contact to who may be the girl's parents. We will update this story later." The tv turns off and Ms. Izuku joins her son in the kitchen to drop off some dishes in the sink.
"This town is starting to turn upside down," She said as she turns on the faucet. "Last month there was a car accident, a week ago a teenage girl went missing, and now a little girl was found in a riverbank. You have to be careful when you head out Midoriya." She then pours the dish detergent into the sink causing bubbles to form with the smell of lemon.
Before the teenage boy was able to respond back, the doorbell rings. "Oh! Would you get that?" His mother asks cheerfully. Not responding, Midoriya goes to the front door and opens it.
"Good morning, neighbor." said a man who looked to be in his late 20's or either 30's. "Um, morning?" Said Midoriya who tried his hardest not to look at the man in the eyes. The man touched his shaggy wet hair, "Is your parents home by chance?"
Before the teen was able to answer his mother appears behind him. "Hello, how are you? Need anything?" "Oh, not really. I just moved here yesterday and wanted to get to know the neighborhood, you know?" "Oh no, I understand. Hope you like it here despite all the crimes that's been happening. Hope they don't chase you away." "I promise you it won't. My kids like it here."
A whine was heard behind the man. "Dad! Hurry up! We're going to be late!" The girl Midoriya seen across his window was standing behind the man. Her blonde hair on each side was pulled up into a tight bun and she wore just a simple plain white t-shirt and black shorts along with black converse.
"Oh! That's your daughter?" Exclaimed Ms. Izuku. "She's soooo cute!"
"Toga? What'd you say?" Said the man. The blonde haired teen stands aside next to the man and looks at Midoriya. Both their eyes meet.
"Thank you, Ms?" "Izuku. This is my son Midoriya and if you ever need any help please don't hesitate to knock on our door."
"The name is Tomura." The man helds out his hand waiting for Ms. Izuku to take. After giving both Tomura and Toga a warm smile she place her hands in his and gives it a gentle shake.
"You're welcome to come over for dinner if you'd like you know." She quickly added. "I'll be there." With that, he walks away and heads towards his car leaving Toga alone.
"Toga! Are you coming or what?" He yelled.
Without taking her eyes off Midoriya she says, "N-No, I'm actually going to stay home. Go on without me."
"Alright then. See you when I get home and make sure to behave yourself." Tomura gets inside the car and from Midoriya's view he noticed there was another person. A male who was at the driver's seat. But before he was able to move up close to get a better look the car sped off.
"You're welcome to come in." Said his mom who opened the door more wide.
"Why thank you." Said Toga who blushed.
What the hell. Thought Midoriya.
"No! No! You're not listening!" Shouted Midoriya who was pacing back and forth in his room on his phone. "The guy looks creepy and he has a daughter apparently who is sitting downstairs in my living room."
"I don't know, it sounds normal to me. Besides, you shouldn't judge someone based on their appearance Deku." Said Todoroki.
A small knock appears on his door. Startled, Midoriya holds his phone close to his ear, "I'll call you later." He hangs up the phone and went to his door to open it. Once he opens it he sees Toga standing outside his room door playing with a switchblade.
"Um, you need anything?" Midoriya asked nervously as he rubs the back of his head.
She looks up at him from her blade and smiles, "You mind showing me around?"
Still looking at her blade he says, "My home?" Toga shoves her blade in her pants pocket and giggles. "No silly, the town. Like where normal kids go hang out after school
"So, where you're from?" inquired Midoriya. He took a bite out of his ice cream cone. "I'm from a small town," she replied, licking the top of her strawberry ice cream. "I know what you're thinking...Midoriya was it?" She looks off into the distance watching children play at a playground. "You think my dad is weird."
A shock Midoriya begins to stutter, "I-uh-no? It's not that-" "Liar." She said as she took another lick at her ice cream.
He sighed. "I'm sorry, okay?" "No, please, don't be. He's not my biological father anyway. Just someone who adopted me." Toga then gets up from the bench and Midoriya looks up at her. "I'm only telling you this because I don't want you to look at him differently from everyone else. He's a good man who is just trying to give me and my brother a good life."
Brother? Midoriya thought to himself. Could it possibly be the guy sitting at the driver's seat?
"We should head back to your house. Dinner is almost ready." She suggested. "Good idea." He gets up from the bench and walks alongside her while not saying any word. Although he still find it awkward being around her he did enjoy her company.
The two of them were silent during the whole walk back to Midoriya's house. When they've arrived, Midoriya noticed the same black van he seen from earlier next door parked outside his neighbor's home.
"I'll be right back." Toga said, taking a step back from Midoriya. "Are you okay?" He asked with concern in his eyes. "No...not really. I don't feel good." She close her eyes shut. "If you want, you can lie down in my room." "But what about dinner?" "I can just bring it to you."
She then opens her eyes and gives him a smile. "Thank you, Midoriya." He puts his hand in his pocket and fumbles for his keys to open the door. Once they were in his hand he inserts the key in the key hole and opens it.
As the two teens quickly run upstairs to avoid confrontation from their parents who were in the kitchen laughing Toga begins to cough. "We're almost there." Midoriya said while holding her forearm. "Please don't worry about me…" "No, really, it's okay." Toga misses a step and hits her knee on the last stair. "Shit," she muttered underneath her breath. "Come here."
Midoriya picks her up bridal style and heads towards his room. When he got inside he place her down on his bed and then went back to close the door.
"No, please don't leave me." She muttered as her eyes stayed close. "Um, I'm not leaving? But wouldn't you want water?" "No, come here." Midoriya slowly walks towards her. "I have to tell you something…"
A/N: Suckish ending but that will be it for this chapter! I should just stick to one shots.
