Childrens hospital room
Dudley Dursley tried to close his eyes but the image wouldn't erase itself from his brain. It was just an after image of the barren desert that he was stuck in. He walked as far as he could- and looking back it was much too far that he could normally. He could run longer too, but he only ran because of the shadow haunting him. It was threatening for the first while but changed and seemed to wait for him to approach. He didn't and finally stepping out of the shade the thing spoke. It was man from legs down and wolf from the chest.
"About time, Brat- we don't have much time!" it growled.
"What... who are you?" he asked.
"No one now, brat, no one. My name is Aaron though and I am your future and you are my past," he said.
"Where are we?" he asked.
"In your mind- I thought mine was bad at first but this..." he trailed off motioning around him while he shook his head.
Dudley blinked and as the man attacked with a single claw that cut from finger to wrist and he watched as it healed, "You could have killed me!"
"You're already dead- or near dead brat unless you put yourself together. Your magic core has reached it's limits and is destroying itself. Stop and you'll live- don't and you'll die," Aaron said.
"And how would I stop it? Why can't you do it?" he asked.
"I can't because it's your body- and as to how... well everyones process is different. You can't do anything to make it worst- so why not try to fix it?" Aaron said.
Dudley blinked and focused. It seemed to take forever to find it but he finally saw it- three balls trying to destroy each other. He felt the closest one and it seemed to be his own but it was dirty then the second one was more beast like- tainted like a dark mass in the middle- the final one was pure. It sang to him like a pure classical song. His own was punk and the third was rock. Eventually he pushed the three together and it shrunk. He could feel the power become more compressed as something rushed through him.
He was in his mind again with a laughing companion who spoke as soon as he appeared, "You're lucky you didn't die but I didn't expect you to manage to force them all together. Your forms will be strong- but I guess you're protecting a nexus point so you would have to be."
"Nexus point?" Dudley asked panting.
"Yes, your cousin. Your magic was corrupt that while you'd be able to cast magic- it would be difficult by the end- my own is pure but tainted by the curse I passed onto you. Your cousin on the other hand- he's powerful- but other than a skin deep scar it's pure," Aaron said.
"What did you mean by I am your past and you are my future?" Dudley said.
"Well, assuming you live through this- my beast form will become yours after a fashion and I went through the same thing you're going through now," the man said simply.
"Does that mean I will be able to cast magic now?" Dudley asked.
"Yes, that rush you felt meant that you will be able to use magic outside of your body. If before it was just to your hands- now there are coils all over your body. Congratulations Dudley, you're now a warlock- or wizard."
"What's the difference?" he asked.
"To the british- nothing. To the americans- a lot. Warlocks are weaker of the two with a focus on offensive and very little defensive. Wizards are warders and learn a more general skill used to aid in defense, offense, and healing."
"So what am I in the American sense?" he asked.
"Warlock- your natural talents lean towards more destructive nature. However you now range as a wizard/protector now because of this. I wish I could tell you more but we're out of time now..." he trailed off as he disappeared and Dudley fell into awareness.
"He's awake, Aunt Petunia" A sullen voice said above him.
"Get out the the way, boy!" His father yelled and his parents appeared above him.
"Are you okay Duddy-kins? Can I get you some water? Are you hungry?" his mother shot rapid questions at him then moved to get some water for him.
"I knew you'd be okay, Dudley. You should be more careful though they honestly had no clue what as wrong- useless hospital!" he spoke low until the end became a hostile mutter.
"I'm glad your okay, Dudley" Harry said as he looked up and watched to see it his mother would come.
The doctor came and checked him over. Muttering softly for a few minutes he then left asking to talk to his parents when his mom came back. She came back shortly and leaving the glass on the side table she left to see what the doctor wanted. Harry looked over his bed ridden cousin who wasn't glaring or seeming hostile at all. It came as a shock when Dudley smiled at him.
A knock came at the door and one of Dudley and Harry's classmates came in. Leaving notes and homework for them both he shuffled away before Dudley could say thank you. Staring at the notes with no comprehension as to what it meant he looked towards Harry and asked if he could help him. The shock on his face was expected but bringing out the past packages he explained the work and he finished some of the work that was piling up in his absence at school.
Eventually his parents came back and saying that they would be able to bring him home in two weeks. Harry was left as he had missed three weeks of school and they had only managed a few days worth of make up homework. There wasn't much for him to do since they hadn't brought any toys with them.
