I hope Hope you all enjoy. Without further ado, here's the next chapter.
The planet was called Corona, and it had a ruling monarchy that was kind enough to believe my cause. My plead must have been really weird, barging in there, asking they not arrest me, but help me find parts for my flyer.
I must not have realized I had never been to this planet, so they wouldn't think me a thief. And because they were so unequipped for flying, they wouldn't have any sorts of parts.
But besides that point, and the fact they didn't seem to take anything of me pleading they wouldn't arrest me, they decided to help me. The King and Queen gave me an offer I couldn't refuse, just like every other offer I was given in my life. If they helped me rebuild my flyer, I would act as their ambassador and travel the Galaxy using my flyer to improve their relations. And of course, that came with every luxury it calls an ambassador to have. Home in the castle, servants, exclusivity and treatment as royalty, the food, I could go on for a while.
I mean, I was essentially going from rock bottom to mountain top castle! But it only got better. I met the King and Queen's daughter. Her name was Rapunzel, and they told me she had a magical property in her that made her golden blonde hair grow to the longest length possible. I've never been one for magic, but even so, she was the most beautiful, kind girl I ever met.
She was so innocent and nice, and I was some orphan-slave-crook-teen.
I distanced myself from her because I thought I honestly was just there for the luxury of being important. You know, being ambassador and all. But as she stayed near me more and more, I started to doubt my thoughts. And soon, I thought I was there for her. As if there were some invisible thing that brought us together. And I inexplicably fell for her.
It took me years to fix that darn flyer, so I was basically stuck there. It was no problem, because I was a fifteen year old in love with a thirteen year old princess. I could not stop thinking of her, of showing her the Galaxy when I finished my flyer. When I told her of all that I had seen, I, um, conveniently wanted to leave out the whole thief thing, but even then, she was so eager to go with me! I think it was when she turned fifteen that she told me she loved me. I remember that reaction. I felt like some sort of sap, but deep in my heart, I didn't care, because she loved me back. We were still kids, so even though I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her, and her with me, we waited. We were best friends. We were engaged in her 17th year and my 19th when I finally finished my flyer.
I wanted to test it for safety before letting her or any one aboard, so I decided to fly it out of the atmosphere, around the planet and then back. I was actually doubtful. I didn't want to leave her there, but she told me it was okay. "Eugene, go. I know it'll work. Come back soon so we can see the Galaxy, like you said," she said to me.
"What if it doesn't work? I can't risk loosing you!"
"Eugene, I know it will work. I have complete faith that you did an amazing job and it will work. You are an amazing person. I love you."
"I love you, too. But Punzie-"
"Shh. Just get over there and test it, silly. For me." She made those adorable puppy eyes, and continued. "Besides, I know you would never leave me intentionally."
She said that as a joke. The flyer worked perfectly. It flew and glided greatly, and would have continued to do so for years, if the black hole that brought me there hadn't sucked me back in again.
This time, as I flew jarringly through the black hole, my ship remained unharmed. A cruel trick of fate. As soon as I came out the other side, I turned around and flew right back through the black hole. It was not what I expected, I was really shaken up, but I figured it wouldn't really affect anything I hadn't set out to do. Boy was I wrong.
When I arrived back on Corona, I found a then shocking, now horrifying difference. Instead of a quaint village, I found skyscrapers surrounding the castle. And the news that the new King and Queen sitting at the throne were in fact my granddaughter and grandson-in-law enticed an emotion I have yet to describe. When I asked about their grandmother, they told me Queen Rapunzel died at one hundred and fifteen years old and that was 39 years ago.
The full weight of what had happened hit me. Rapunzel had died... Waiting for me. One hundred and thirty seven years had gone by in the time disruption of traveling through the black hole. And now, my fiancée, my Rapunzel, my Blondie, was gone forever.
I left Corona, went through the black hole, and I never returned. I was in despair. I just sailed around, sitting in a horrid contemplation of my time. Once again misfortune had struck in my life. I was completely convinced I was going to continue having bad luck, too.
After my provisions ran out, it seemed to dawn on me that I had to eat to live and steal to eat just like Al used to say. I wanted to just give up, but something compelled me to live, and I started stealing again. That's where my life made-it's third-great turn.
Yay! Now for the story to begin.
Thanks for reading! I hope you all enjoyed and any comments/questions are welcome.
