Sasusaku Month 2015! I'm so excited to be participating this year!
Day 3
Prompt: Carnival
Rating: T
Summary: Sasuke would have given up tomatoes for a week to not here, but no. His mother insisted he had to come, so now he's blushing at a girl with too bright hair and eyes while his brother is on the verge of being sick. What a night.
Disclaimer: Naruto and the other characters are not mine, only the plot is.
Enjoy~
There are some things Sasuke Uchiha has never been able to handle in his short five years of life: crowds, bright colors, bright lights, loud noises, and stupid people. Of course, none of those annoyances of his were good enough reasons for his mother to not drag him to the local carnival with the whole family. He even said he would give up tomatoes for a week, but his mother still refused saying "family bonding at a traditional event is important."
Hence why Sasuke Uchiha is currently frowning with his arms crossed as he walks between his mother and father into the loud, crowded, and bright carnival filled with stupid people. He thinks Naruto would fit in amazingly here and wonders if he'll see the blonde here at all; that would just make this day so much better he thinks. His frown unconsciously deepens at the thought, but he lets the frown drop a little as he sees his mother give him 'the look.'
"Sasuke, this will be fun! Your father and I had our first date at a carnival!" Sasuke stops his pouting to look up at his mother and father sharing a sweet little moment, but the frown is back in place when Itachi pops in to ruin the moment.
"Yeah Sasuke, the clown of your dreams is probably waiting for you over there." Itachi had just pointed at random clown at a booth near them, but as Sasuke follows his finger he finds that his eyes are attracted to a blob of pink standing next to the ridiculous clown instead. At first he can't tell what it is, but as he looks closer he realizes the bright pink is hair on top of a girl's head. He scoffs once he realizes what it was, having hair that color must be a curse he thinks.
"I was only joking, Sasuke. You don't have to stare and think about what your kids are going to look like." Sasuke 'tches' at his brother and his parents as they laugh along with his brother; it isn't the clown Sasuke can't take his eyes off of. He turns back to his parents with a pout, and reading his sour mood of wanting to get this little trip over with, they stop laughing.
"Well then, what should we do first?" Mikoto chirps as she grabs her youngest's hand.
"Make Sasuke sick on a ride."Itachi offers. Sasuke sticks his tongue out at his brother as Itachi leads the way to a tall ride, and as his family is facing forward he takes once last glimpse at the booth the pink haired girl had been at, only to see the hair with the annoying color of bright pink is gone.
Sasuke smirks smugly as Itachi comes off of the tall rollercoaster with a slightly green face. He had talked about trying to make Sasuke sick, but sadly for Itachi, Sasuke was too short when the ride attendant measured him. Therefore, Sasuke couldn't get on the ride and Itachi is now the one on the verge of being sick instead of his younger brother. Sasuke silently thanks the universe as their mother leads Itachi over to a bench to sit down for a second.
Fugaku had left to go the restroom and as Sauske is looking for his father to avoid sitting by a sick Itachi, he sees a dash of bright pink a few yards away at a cotton candy booth. Grimacing at all the bright colors in one place, Sasuke turns his head away and stares at his mother still doting on his brother. It's not as easy to see them now as more people have started to walk in the space between the bench and Sasuke. Just trying to find a different view, Sasuke turns back to the cotton candy booth just because and finds the girl with the annoyingly bright pink hair is still there. And looking straight at him with annoying bright green eyes.
Sasuke turns around immediately when he notices the girl and him locked eyes for a moment; embarrassed he had been caught looking at her directly. Sasuke can feel his cheeks burning and focuses back on his mother and brother a few seconds before he peeks back over his shoulder towards the book the girl had been at. Contrary to last time though, Sasuke's eyes do not see the bright haired girl.
With the girl gone Sasuke's blush fades and he finds himself turning back around, only to come face to face with the girl he thought had annoying bright hair and eyes. Sasuke's blush is back in full swing instantly and he stumbles back a step trying to put some distance between him and the girl holding a cotton candy stick.
"Uhhhh." Sasuke blurts out lamely as he watches the girl tilt her head slightly to the side at his mumbling.
"You don't seem as sad as before." She takes a bite out of her cotton candy after stating her observation and Sasuke is left staring blankly at the girl, wondering why she paid attention to him and his mood swings.
"My brother got sick on that ride." Sasuke points at the ride his brother was on a few minutes ago while looking the other way to hide his blush. He can feel her gaze shift from him to the ride and back onto Sasuke once again.
"I know how nice that feeling is!" Sasuke can hear the laughter in her voice and as he turns to look at her, he sees a big smile on her face as her body is framed by the light from a booth shining brighter than before, and for a moment, he thinks bright colors and lights might not be all bad.
Sasuke ducks is head into his shoulder at the embarrassing thought and listens as the girl calms her giggles and crushes grass as she takes a step forward towards him.
"Hey you know-" Sasuke had started to turn towards her as she addressed, but stops halfway as a deep voice behind him cuts her off.
"Sasuke! Your mother is worried about you!" Sasuke sees his father walking towards him and the girl with haste. It only takes a few seconds from Fugaku to get from the spot Sasuke first spotted him and to where Sasuke is now, and once Fugaku reaches Sasuke, he kneels down to Sasuke's eye level.
"Are you okay? Your mother lost sight of you and thought someone had taken you or you had wondered off. She texted me on my way back from the bathroom and told me to look for you and said this was the last area she had seen you and-" Sasuke cuts off Fugaku's ramble.
"I'm fine, dad." Sasuke says as he tries to focus on his father and not the girl standing right behind him watching his rambling father. Even at five, he knows it's embarrassing for parents to act so clingy to their kids in front of other kids thanks to Itachi.
"Then let's go to your mother before she starts calling your name through a megaphone." Sasuke smiles slightly and nods, grabbing his father's hand as Fugaku stands up. Sasuke sees the girl is still right beside him, looking at him over her cotton candy, and offers her a little wave. A little wave bringing her into the present and creating a smile on her face as she waves back and tells him to enjoy the carnival.
Sasuke and Fugaku reach Mikoto and Itachi shortly after leaving the pink haired girl, and Sasuke is greeted with a suffocating hug from his mother and a short 'why did you leave my sight' lecture. Sasuke's mind ignores both though as he remembers the smiling girl who just waved at him moments ago, and as he parents lead him and his brother away for more carnival fun, Sasuke decides he will try to enjoy the carnival and not be a debbie-downer as he was when his family first arrived.
Just a cute little story. I actually plan on adding to it later on, so look forward to it!
Happy summer!
