Cosima raised an eyebrow as Sarah pulled up to a field house.
"This is where you met Leekie? I was expecting...actually, nevermind." Cosima glanced hopefully at Sarah as the Brit parked the car next to the house. "What do you think of all this, Sarah?" The punk sighed as she gripped the steering wheel.
"Honestly Cosima, I don't know." she sighed, hesitating with her answer. She glanced out the window at the approaching car, then back at the scientist. "If you're right..." Sarah shook her head as she continued, "I still trust DYAD about as much as those bloody biohack freaks that are after us."
"So I should stay on the quiet side?" Cosima grumbled.
"Cos-" Cosima shook her head and unbuckled her seat belt.
"Let's just get this over with."
"Je suis...où?" asked the blonde haired woman as her eyes adjusted to the brightness of the room, slowly regaining consciousness. She could sense another presence but could not get up from where she rested. It didn't seem like she was in a hospital, or part of DYAD's facilities, but wherever she was they had access to enough medical technology to monitor her.
"Dr. Cormier, I suggest that you try and relax. You've lost enough blood as it is that you'll be here for awhile." Delphine could smell the smoke of a fresh cigarette after hearing the sound of a lighter being lit. "Ferdinand will come by to pay his respects and catch you up with project LEDA and those Neolution antics as you recover- or so he says." Her heartbeat quickened as a woman came into her view, recognition flashing in her amber eyes. Amused dark brown eyes, like warm dark chocolate, seemed to chuckle at her apparent fear. "That bullet was one hell of a thing to remove in time." Dr. Virginia Coady tilted her head as Delphine slowly regained control of her expression. "I'm not surprised that you're experiencing slight memory loss from right after the incident. That will pass." she flicked her cigarette away from her patient's face and then she adjusted Delphine's bed.
Her back ached as the backboard was raised and she was left in a semi-sitting position on the bed. Delphine was able to see the room more clearly, noticing other medical supplies and a few vanilla files scattered around on metal racks and tables. She vaguely remembered Ferdinand's suggestion and cursed him for changing that part of their deal without her knowledge. What did he promise her? she wondered as she mulled over the possibilities. Am I safe to stay here? Before she could come up with anything coherent, her mind flashed back to Cosima.
Please be safe.
"Cameras around the area were wiped, but a vehicle remained in the facility." Marian Bowles pressed a photo across the table, featuring a white car splattered with blood. "Forensics from the local police department shows that she was standing," Marian indicated a spot on the picture, "here and that she was shot near the left renal artery given the amount of blood. There was no blood or anything else that left a trail, so her body was left to bleed before being transported to hide the evidence."
"How were you able to get that information?" questioned Sarah as Cosima felt a lump grow at the back of her throat. She imagined Delphine on the concrete, clutching her wound while soaking the ground with blood. She, most likely, was wearing the same outfit that she saw her off in.
"DYAD has many sources," smoothly replied Marian as Cosima blinked back tears. It's not possible. Come on, there's ways around everything, she chided to herself, gathering her strength to believe in her convictions. "Cosima, I understand that Delphine was- or at least, used to be your monitor. I am sory for your loss." Cosima hardened her gaze and met Marian's coffee-black eyes.
"What is it that you really want from us?" she asked, sparing any formality. Marian Bowles seemed to consider her statement before answering.
"Neolutions have Rachel Duncan," she said, earning mixed glances from the clones. "They have...taken Charlotte from my custody a few months ago but since they are both in the same location as proven by Dr. Nealon's footage we have been able to track them down."
"Where are they?" asked Sarah before Cosima could interject. She nudged Cosima with her foot under the table, earning a scowl aimed her way. Marian passed the rest of the folder to Sarah, who glanced through its contents.
"It's a small tropical resort in Mexico, and we have a team on the way to their location."
"So what does this have to do with us?" Cosima inquired, raising an eyebrow.
"More likely than not our team will fail." Marian shrugged. "It's meant to draw them out of that location- it's too risky. We want to use you two as assets to draw some agents in and extract intelligence from them in order to know where the Neolutionists are based and where they ."
"So you're using us as...bait," Cosima sighed.
"Why just the two of us?"
"We have signed an agreement with Alison Hendrix and Helena...well, Helena has proven rather difficult to come to terms with and has successfully avoided most surveillance. Krystal Goderich is seeing a psychiatrist after Dr. Nealon posed her as Rachel, and the others are either not self-aware yet or are unable to provide assistant at the moment." Marian explained. "All precautions will be in place to ensure both of your safeties and we'll be one step closer to tearing down the Neolutionists. Deal?"
"It's up to you, Cos." Sarah crossed her arms. "A bit of revenge to knock out those damn buggers." Cosima glanced at her sister, before turning her attention back to Marian.
"Let's go and get them," she shrugged.
A/N There's a theory on tumblr by saveoursestras that I'm (pretty much) going off of so that's where credit is due (for the most part) for Delphine not-being-dead. I've fixed a few bugs in the previous chapter and I'll hopefully crank out another chapter or two in the next month (that's the plan at least). I might do little Cophine fluff on the side if anyone is interested- just PM me or something.
