Chapter one: Two kids and a School Project. How hard could it be?!

"Is this kind of stuff the academy pushes out these days, dattebayo?" Naruto lets out a low whistle and crosses his arms. His brow was furrowed and his eyes were closed tightly.

Hinata laughed a little as she joined her husband at the table. She passed Naruto the cup of coffee and folded her hands in her lap. The woman always thought her husband looked rather cute when he made this face. It reminded her of a fox spirit, which she found ironic.

Naruto took a sip and reread the instructions printed on the paper.

Students must recreate a detailed family tree detailing their clan's respective heritage. Any and all Clans must be detailed.

Naruto looked at Hinata and sighed. His mind still replaying the conversation he had with his children before they went to school.

"We know all about Mommy's family. And anything we don't know, Hanabi Obe-san or Hiashi-ojiisan will tell us." His daughter said. Her voice was very energetic. Himawari always seemed excited for something in the way she spoke and the way her eyes sparkled. Her endless amounts of energy, probably due to her ungodly amounts of chakra, did nothing to weaken her gentle nature.

"But we can't find one damn thing about any 'Uzumaki Clan'." Bolt finished crossing his arms. "What the hell gives, dad?" There was a pause as Naruto groaned. Not particularly at the situation, but with his son. As twins, Bolt and Hima-Hime would always finish each other's sentences. It just when Himawari would start off cute and innocent, Bolt would finish in such a brash and non-polite manner.

"Well...my parents died when I was born." He wanted to tell them, but one look at their smiling faces made Naruto hesitate. No reason to sully the mood with melancholy. Maybe when they got older, he'd tell them the tale of Naruto Uzumaki. For now all they knew were the one shots of them hearing that their father was the hero of the leaf village their whole lives.

"I see. Well, leave it up to me. I'll give you notes that will undoubtedly produce the best project in the whole academy!"

Bolt nodded and exchanged fist bumps with his father. "Then its in your hands."

"I knew Daddy and Kuu-chan wouldn't let us down." Himawari said grinning at her brother. Himawari had a (in Naruto's opinion) bad habit to referring to her father and Kurama as two people sharing one body. Kurama thought it rather endearing and he clearly had a favorite human in 'Daddy's little princess, Hima-Hime'.

At first he thought it odd, that Himawari could call her father Kuu-chan when she was younger. It wasn't until recently, Hanabi had concluded she had the Mind's ability, while she training her and she was able to identify where everyone in the Hyuga compound was despise being blind folded. It must have strong for her to see Kurama. This was a feat only Sasuke with his Sharingan could achieve. Hinata thought it was some strange match up in between the byakugan and the chakra properties his mother, as an Uzumaki had. Bolt had not received this gift, but he lacked in sensory skills, he was a much greater fighter than his sister. Whatever the case, Himawari had grown to associate her father with Kuu-chan's chakra and learned to love them both in her own way. This made Naruto a little jealous, much to Kurama's amusement..

Hey, I'm doing all the work here, Princess. Naruto utters mentally with a nervous chuckle and somewhere instead his mind Kurama snoats rudely.

From downstairs Hinata's voice started urging the children to hurry before they were late.

His female twin would kiss him goodbye and the two would race downstairs. Naruto would overhear Bolt saying "I hope he doesn't fuck this up." to his sister. Despite the sweatdrop at his son's unfilter language for his age, he was right.

Naruto hoped he wouldn't fuck this up either. How hard could it be? He thought falling back into his bed. He looked at the 'No Ramen, no Life' poster he had printed out all those years ago and thought if he could seal Kaguya, then he could do school work! He'd probably have it done before Hinata had gotten done with breakfast in fact! With a sense of determination, Naruto raced downstairs to greet his wife and get some food.

The kitchen table was good thinking spot for Naruto. One of his favorites in fact. Only he had finished breakfast hours ago and he was rapidly running out of steam as far as ideas went on the project.

Quickly he wrote out his father's name on a piece of paper. He had heard from Jiraiya that Minato's mother wasn't even a ninja. His father was positively mediocre and it had been sheer dumb luck that the pair would produce such a excellent example of a shinobi. If there was one thing Naruto knew is that 10 year olds didn't have high attention spans. They needed something amazing and full of adventure. Something like...I don't know...the survivor of a forgotten and royal family with incredible power that is still a mystery to this day….

Naruto scribbled down his mother's name and circled Uzumaki.

Family? Did he have any family left? Who is to say someone didn't survive? Even Sasuke, who was thought to be last Uchiha in the world, had company. Not very good company, but company nonetheless.

"I have no idea where my mother came from." Naruto admits sadly and he watches as Hinata gets up and crosses over behind him. She leans in and wraps her arms around his shoulders and rest her head on her husband's left shoulder.

"Well you are Hokage. You have the top most clearance to access the library of Konoha. I'd start my search there, Naruto-Kun." She says as she writes down part of the dewey decimal system that might include Naruto's heritage. Much unlike her husband, Hinata spent a good long time reading. Almost as much as she did knitting. It was abundantly stunning to Naruto that such a quiet and shy creature would also be one of the Leaf's top echelon of hand-to-hand combat.

"Beautiful and Smart. The whole package…" Naruto says under his breath. He locks eyes with Hinata and before the blush would appear on her face he catches her in a kiss.

The kitchen is normally quiet, but is now filled with the tiniest grunts and moans. Naruto had always been one to get a jump start on his daily routine, but he'd be a little busy for a while. After all, how important could a child's school work really be?

Meanwhile in another part of the village the Uzumaki twins would be getting ready to pass the very old and noble looking building when a thought would pass into their minds…..

Author's note and Friendly reminder that Bolt has a potty mouth and Himawari is a little Karin with her mind's eye ability. :) That is all
