Iron Fire Reforged
Chapter Two: Mark Two, A Godly Introduction.
Clean, Safe Energy.
I woke up rather early today, I was secretly dreading it and I wanted to go into my shed and work on Mark Two. I was making good time and progress on it, the entrance exam for UA was only a few months away. I needed all the time available to finish it.
The reason why I was dreading today was that Momo invited me over to her house. The reason being to meet her dad. All I knew about him was that he was nice, nothing much to go off of. Also, I was beyond nervous, because the person I was meeting, if he was anything like Momo I could end up with something broken…
I got into the shower, wetting down my hair and washing all the gunk out of it. I washed very thoroughly. Basically, I wanted to make a good impression as I styled my hair back to the odd mohawk-ish style that I liked. The red part of my hair was at the top as it soon fizzled out into small splashes towards the bottom, is dominated by the white.
"Aw, my little brother's gonna go see his girlfriend's parent! Good luck and make a good impression!" Fuyumi cheered as I adjusted my glasses and pocketed my phone.
"Correction: my FRIEND'S parent… we're not there, yet," I sighed, as Fuyumi gasped.
"Oooh! You said 'yet'!"
I realized as I left that I said that and immediately felt like I wanted to die. 'That was personal! What was I thinking?!'
I followed the directions Momo wrote down for me, seeing her house. It was WAY bigger than Fuyu's house and definitely way fancier. I went up to the door, whistling as I rung the doorbell.
*Ding… DONG!* the bell chimed.
I waited for a bit, checked my watch, and kept whistling.
"I'll get it!" a powerful, manly voice boomed from inside. It made my hair on the back of my neck stand on end. It was like thunder incarnate, which I was soon to confirm to be so.
The door opened, and I saw him. Thor, the God of Thunder, wearing casual clothes and drinking a soda. His golden blond hair pulled back in a ponytail as his beard was trimmed short. He was muscular, his body practically rippling with power, but his eyes were kind.
"Ah! You must be Sido Todorokisson, right?" he greeted, his ocean blue eyes shining with good humor as he pulled me into an odd hug.
"Uh… sir?" I mumbled.
"Oh! I apologize, was I getting too familiar? I was, wasn't I?" he asked.
I nodded as I peeked behind him, seeing Momo striding down the hallway.
"Papa, you already met him?" Momo said, smiling as Thor nodded.
"Come on, Sido, let me tell you about how I first heard about you!" Thor said a smile on his face.
"I was on Knowhere, you know that giant skull floating out in the middle of space? Well, I got a message from my wife, my darling Momo's Mother, and I heard about how you and my little Momo bonded at a gala! I was so relieved, I thought Momo would never find anyone to be friends with..." Thor signed as he recalled the hopeless feeling he once had. He wanted his daughter to have friends so she wouldn't grow up lonely and isolated from the world, and to suffer so many different types of trauma, especially at a young age. So when his wife told him the news that their precious daughter had made a new friend at a Gala, Thor could not be any happier for his daughter, so much so that when Momo had returned home, Thor immediately hugged his little girl and asked a flurry of questions about her new friend.
Thor's expression turned firm as another thought entered his mind, "What's your power, anyway?" Though Thor had settled down and had become a father, that did not mean the warrior within him was gone.
"I'm working on it… it's a suit of armor, sir," I gulped, feeling that warrior spirit radiating from him as he stretches out his hand, a low metallic whine echoed through the house as an ax flew into his hand It was heavy-looking and had a tree like a grip and a shaft. The blade was wickedly sharp as the blunt end looked like it could flatten more than just walls, but skulls too.
His eyes narrowed, "Momo, can you excuse me for a moment? I'm going to have a talk with your friend here," he snarled dangerously.
I started to mentally plead for my life as he cleared his throat.
"Are you in love with my daughter?" Thor queried as he laid his ax on the table. He had a wry smile on his face, his blue eyes shining warmly. He went from threatening your life to being a plain old guy again.
"I'm not angry… you can tell me if you want," Thor reasoned, smiling.
"Yes sir, I am in love with her. I know it's sudden, and I know it wasn't my intention… but, allow me to explain my reason!" I said, closing my eyes as I took a deep breath and prepared to tell him a tragic backstory.
"Your daughter was the only person who showed me kindness outside of most of my family… she worried about me when no one else did… When I met her, I felt so lonely. I couldn't really go anywhere without being reminded of being born quirkless. Then, Momo changed that… but don't tell her! I wanna tell her myself!" I prattled, holding up my hand as Thor chuckled.
"I won't, but first…" he faltered, "Take up Stormbreaker and I won't tell her!" he commanded as I looked down at the ax cautiously.
"Okay then! I'll pick this up!" I cried, putting my hand on the handle and shaft, pulling at it. It didn't budge at all.
"Hrrgh! Hrrrrrgh!" I groaned, pulling at it harder.
It shifted. I forced it upwards as I held it up before it clanged back onto the table.
Thor gaped at me in shock, he gasped.
"Pfft…" he sputtered.
"Heh. heh. Heh." I laughed nervously.
I laughed as Thor smiled.
"I like you, you have my word that I won't ruin the whole surprise..." he chuckled.
When it was time to leave, he gave me something.
"This is a charm called Gjallarhornid, I'll heed its call… should you all have need of me!" Thor explained, ruffling my hair. It was a small, horn-shaped charm, black and white. It was on a cord and I noticed another one on Momo's neck too.
"Welcome to the family, Sido Todorokisson!" he finished, smirking and opening the door for me.
Momo pushed him gently aside, "Papa, I need to talk to him real quick, okay?" she asked.
Thor nodded, grinning and winking at me.
"My Papa is something else, huh?" Momo asked rhetorically.
"I'm just glad he didn't kill me!" I chortled.
"Yeah… listen, you just keep going no matter what, I think the suit helps with that, what version is it on?" Momo asked.
"Uhm… Iron Fire Mark Two is still in progress, I have the armor plates on… the challenge is trying to find a good energy source. I can replicate an arc reactor with the resources I've got… but I don't know how to energize it," I sighed.
"I'll help! Now hang on!" Momo exclaimed as she spread her hand out towards the door as a small hammer flew into her hand. Lightning struck her as a cloud of smoke billowed around her. Once the smoke cleared, I felt my jaw hit the floor.
"WHAT THE HELL?!" I gasped, seeing Momo in dark gray armor, with a long white cape and it was open enough for her to use her other quirk. Her hair was its usual black with gold highlights, her eyes were an electric blue like her father's eyes.
She strode towards me, wrapping her arm around my waist, it was strong and comforting. Her body seemed to tingle with power. She started to swing the hammer in a tight circle as I shut my eyes.
We left the ground.
"Okay! We're in the air! Open your eyes and look around!" Momo cried as I opened my eyes, seeing the city far below us as she flew towards my house. Now my brain would normally rationalize the situation… but now my feelings for her grew.
'Not only is she a great friend, but she's also beautiful and powerful and always there for me!' I thought, a blush coming to my cheeks as we landed.
"Now then, shall we?" she asked, raising an eyebrow as I jogged ahead of her and opened the door to my shed.
She stepped in, seeing my new armor sitting there on the work table and my computer on.
"Isn't that a waste of energy?" she pondered, looking over at it.
"I try to turn it off, but it always comes back on!" I huffed as Momo saw my replicated Arc Reactor. She saw the plug and the cord that went in.
I rummaged around for my welding goggles, I had two pairs so I gave one to Momo.
I snapped them on as she did too. She fired up Mjolnir.
"Okay! On three, you'll gently tap the reactor, then we'll put into my suit!" I ordered as Momo nodded curtly.
"One…"
"Two…"
"THREE!" we yelled the three in unison. Momo tapped the hammer on it as it glew brighter. I grabbed it with my tongs and dashed carefully over to the armor's chest port, setting it in as the cord magnetized it into the suit. It floated peacefully into the port.
*BWII!*
*BWII!*
*Shoom*
*Shoom*
The suit's eyes lit up as I gasped quietly. The world seemed to fall away as I cupped the cheeks of my armor's helmet. My heart bubbled with excitement as I shot up.
"We… we… did it!" I squealed.
"We did it!" I continued, grabbing Momo's hands and spinning us around in joy.
"We did it! Haha! Suck on that, Father!" I cheered, we lost our balance and fell to the floor. My arms were wrapped gently around Momo's body.
"Thank you! Thank you so much!" I cried, squeezing her tightly. My face was inches away from hers as she smiled up at me. I still don't know why I did what I did next, but I'll remember it always.
I kissed her. Right then and there, and all I felt was a tingling sensation from her lips. Her eyes were closed as mine were too. I separated from her as my mind was sent reeling from the ensuing supernova. Her lips tingled with her inner power over lightning, I heard my own heartbeat.
"S-sorry! I-I… that was in the heat of the moment!" I scoffed, my welding goggles fell to my neck as Momo got up and grabbed Mjolnir.
"I-I'll see you later! I apologize!" I sputtered as Momo turned back to me.
"Don't apologize… I know you do reckless things when you're excited. It… it was nice, actually," she complimented.
"Uh… does this mean…" I mumbled as she smiled.
"We'll take it one day at a time, Sido!" Momo called, whirling Mjolnir around and flying off as I watched her leave.
"Thanks… Momo," I sighed, turning back to the suit and grabbing some paint they use for cars. I set to work, painting my suit white and leaving the silver bits untouched. I kept working, running system checks on the suit. I sighed, putting my hand on my suit.
"This time, this time I won't give up! What does he know? I struggled for so long… and I worked on this for so long," I huffed. Leaving my shed as I trudged up to my room and tackled my bed.
Sleep didn't take long to find me.
